A new owner has changed the menu. Bland, below average food. We won't be coming back. Thank you to our waitress. You were great!

If you find yourself with time to kill at Oakland Airport before a flight, Vino Volo is one of…read morethose cool little surprises in the terminal that can actually make you look forward to any delays. Well, almost. I do not fly through this airport often, but after a short work trip I found myself here with three hours to waste. I was so happy to see this cozy little wine bar tucked into the airport and it looked like a great place for a solo traveler like me to hang. I wasn't rushed at all and the staff invited me to hang out longer and enjoy more wine, LOL! The vibe is relaxed and surprisingly inviting, and Vino Volo seems immune to the usual rushed airport chaos. There were plenty of other women sitting solo and having a glass of wine, as well as the usual line of business travelers with whom this wine bar seems to be the most popular. There's a surprisingly decent selection of wines by the glass or in tasting flights if you're feeling fancy, and the staff are friendly and actually know what they're talking about. If you don't know a lot about wine, ask them for recommendations. If you're a professional wine lover like me, you'll instantly see the standouts on the menu. The small plates and snacks (think charcuterie, sandwiches, and cheese boards) are good quality and pair nicely with your drink, and they aren't super heavy but are just right. They're perfect if you need something satisfying (and healthier than fried fast food) before hopping on your flight.  Vino Volo is victim of inflated airport pricing, and you may have some sticker shock especially if you know your wine prices. But for the nice spot and friendly service, it feels like the upcharge is mostly worth it. It's a nice little oasis in a place where everything else feels like grab and go chaos. I would definitely stop by again on another layover.

Duplicate review because they have two Yelp listings…read more Quality/Quantity - Too many glasses of wine... My few glasses of Sauvignon Blanc from Chili. And my buddy's Malbec, a few glasses also. Atmosphere - Airport... Nice to have a decent wine bar in an airport. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 7pm or 9pm. Service - 5 stars today. Professional and never felt rushed. And closed our tab right before we had to rush to catch our flight. Thank you. Price - $72 + generous tip. Expensive, but that is the cost for airport prices and decent wine. The sad part is that my buddy has lounge (plus guest) access, but we/he chose to hit a bar instead for "better" quality wine. Owner Comment - Congrats on your company's success since 2004 with your 34+ locations.

Might I suggest visiting Club House in the Oakland Airport instead? This was a sad overall experience, and I really wish I had walked to the other side of the airport before settling on this. The other wing had a few decent looking options, and this side had Club House. You order off a QR code and pay at the table, and the options are pretty standard sports bar fare. I went with a chicken sandwich and fries, which ended up costing nearly $25. It was two chicken tenders slapped between bread and some Applebee's quality fries. Everything looked like a generic meal hatched from the back of a Sysco food truck. My chicken breading was coming off and revealed a grayish chicken that I would've pitched had I not been starving. It really was just not that good. Vibes were weird, service was fine, and it's a bit below expectations which are already graded on a curve when it comes to airport restaurants. Again I'll reiterate there are some decent looking spots on the other side of the airport and I wouldn't recommend this spot.

You seat yourself which is great bc I picked a beautiful view on the window bar. See picture. I started to download the bar code for their menu when the waitress came by and asked if I prefer a menu. I gladly said yes, I am not a fan of the bar code menu. She took my order and it came pretty quick. Stopped by a few times to make sure I was ok. I really appreciate it. I gave it a four because of the small tray provided, it got messy and was hard to keep my food within the small tray along with fries. The truffle fries were good, they just added crumble pieces of cheese which made it hard to grab on fries. The food and service were great. Food was super tasty aside no mayonnaise. Pricing is high but it's the airport. Also saw an extra $2.75 fee as well added. My total with $5 dollar tip came out to $35.

I took a seat at the bar and was welcomed immediately and directed to the QR code to place my order. I ended up ordering an Old Fashioned through the bartender as the app said it was sold out. The drink was well-made, generous with the bourbon, and filled almost to the top of the glass. The guy next to me ordered chicken strips and fries and the smell tempted me to order a side of truffle fries! For the price, I expected a bit more fries but they were good. Overall, a decent spot for a quick drink and snack before flying.

Too bad this restaurant doesn't provide any better of an environment. Having 1-2 workers in the front means tables are left dirty and unbussed for long periods of time and slow service. The bartender was nice and quick, but there is only so much 1 person can do with a full restaurant. There's only breakfast available in the morning, and there are only 4 choices. I had a bagel and fruit with a drink on the side. It got me fueled up for my trip, which was the point, but man it was a pretty sad meal. From submitting the order to having it on the table was ~2 minutes and the chicken had steam coming off it, clearly showing it was "throw the chicken in the microwave to reheat for 90 seconds". I should have immediately sent it back but I'm a fool who's too nice. Below is how it was served vs what I sent back. The server was nice and polite, however it was clear from the full plate sent back that I was unhappy with the food and he never even asked. Not cool. I've been to over 60 airports in my life. And hands down this is the worst airport food I've ever had. Slop.
