When we called to inform them, they denied the allegation and furthermore implied that we must have brought them with us and would not do anything about it. The outcome was that we needed a special extermination treatment at a cost of $2000, a new box and matres set of $1500 and had to discard some apparel. along with all the grief, inconvenience and aggravation. We called again to see if their insurance would cover it and it went on def ears. A little google research indicated that Athens Ohio is infested with bed bugs - unbeknown to us at the time but quite sure the locals are aware of it, let along the hospitality inns. My advice is, STAY AWAY FROM THERE!

Each of the cabins had a game table, fire pit and a hot tub so there was plenty to do in the cabins at night. The cabins were clean, well furnished and had most of the kitchen items we needed during our stay. We stayed in Jackson but most of the full group activities were in Rush Creek, both were perfect for our needs. We had one small AC issue in Jackson and the staff responded promptly and fixed it right away. The bed i slept in was heavenly and I got great sleep each night. Im an early riser so it was nice to have a little path off the back of our cabin, I went for a short hike and happened upon a beautiful wedding venue and some small gardens. Overall great experience and will be returning!

We stayed at Springwood Cabins last weekend for the second time, our first being last August. While…read morethere are several cabins on site, we've stayed at The Crows Nest cabin both times. Each cabin is far enough from the others with enough forest between them that you truly feel secluded in your own private site. We absolutely love The Crows Nest and I cannot recommend it enough nor give enough praise to the owners of Springwood due to their attention to detail and the perfect and spotless condition that they keep the cabin in. We've stayed at many cabin rentals throughout Ohio and Springwood Cabins has made us feel the most welcome and relaxed. The moment you walk in, you can feel the love that the owners have put into the cabin. Crows Nest is a two bedroom cabin with a large open living/kitchen area and each bedroom has its own full private bath. The front porch is spacious with four rocking chairs and they've added a brand new covered back deck with a table and plenty of seating and a new hot tub. We spent our breakfast time on the back deck daily. There is also a brand new outdoor grill below. To the left of the cabin is a well maintained fire pit with three sturdy benches, so you don't even need to bring your own camp chairs if you don't want to. Speaking of needs, the cabin is provided with everything you could need, all you have to bring is your food. Seriously. They supply bath towels and wash cloths, hot tub towels, paper towels, extra trash bags, toilet paper, kitchen towels, a fully stocked kitchen of cookware and utensils and plates. The appliances are well kept and clean: coffee maker, microwave, toaster and Keurig (with Keurig cups supplied), even dog bowls for if you bring your pets. And the WiFi is solid as well. When you first walk in, there is soothing music playing and you feel at peace immediately. It is thoughtfully decorated, the kitchen towels are even folded neatly on the stove. In the island counter is a personalized welcome tent card and that little detail made it feel extra special. I am really trying to find something constructive to add but it's difficult because the place is just perfect. If anything, I wish there were some hooks on the bathroom doors to hang my clothes, there is only a towel bar in the bathroom. I eventually want to stay at the Crows Nest in the fall for the changing of leaf color, I can only imagine how beautiful it is. I'd recommend Springwood to anyone who wants to truly get away for some time without sacrificing comfort.

The reason for me giving 3 stars is that the photos posted by the owners are quite deceptive regarding the distance from a busy highway. As you can see from my photos, CO-19 is approximately 30 feet from the cabin. Without the TV on, you can hear constant traffic even with the door closed. Trying to sit on the porch to relax was impossible because the road is so loud. The cabin is basically as pictured on the website, very homey and comfortable, and the other 3 cabins are far enough from Luna's to allow for privacy. We would have definitely had a wonderful, romantic honeymoon weekend if it hadn't been for the constant noise.

Website says no landline phone so bring your cell if you need to have a phone? However there is NO CELL SERVICE AT ALL. No calling at all....not even texting. This was infuriating because some of us have elderly family we have to be able to contact. Your website is very misleading. My father is almost 90 and I really counted on being able to call him when we arrived at Dogwood. Please update your website? If we would have known this we would have stayed elsewhere. One word for the water.....SULFUR. The water was so bad that it ended up turning all our sterling jewelry orange, and that was bad considering we only bathed twice. :O With all the water treatment options available now and with what you had installed downstairs for water treatment it was too bad about our jewelry and the odor. Hope our jewelry can be fixed! No hand towel rings. There are several places to mount a towel holder by the bathroom sink. Also.... no place to set your toiletry supply bag. Hard for the ladies especially. Lack of dinnerware. Only 2 ceramic dinner sized plates and the rest were tin. Really? Dollar Tree has some really nice ceramic plates for $1 each. Light bulb out on ceiling fan and the whole place is dim so you need all the light you can get. Kitchen would REALLY benefit from light strips under the cabinets. No light at all in shower. Could hardly see to bathe! Also need a lighted vent fan in bathroom. No sponge or kitchen dishrag of any kind to hand wash dishes. Need at least a sponge there and more than just one dish towel. The place was nice enough but not $200 a night nice. Honestly.... this was the most expensive cabin we have stayed in and the least nice, and we have stayed in many cabins. Hopefully you will at least consider our comments to make some improvements. And being that we never received any kind of response from several emails to Doug AND to our comments per above when sent to him, wont be staying here ever again.

The hot was broke our entire stay. When we showed up around 7pm, there was a hose in the hot tub overflowing it with freezing cold water. Their negligence to turn the water off before we arrived cause our future issue. We had tried to call the owner but they were closed so we chalked it up to a loss & figured we'd just use it the next night on our last stay. We went hiking all day and came back under the assumption that the water would have heated up, only to find that it was not working at all. Again we tried to call but they were closed. The price point for this cabin is extremely high for a tiny box with no working hot tub. 3. When I was able to get ahold of the owner to ask for a partial refund due to the hot tub being broke - she hung up on me mid sentence and is now ignoring my calls. Extremely unprofessional. Pros: *The cabin came equipped with everything we needed - towels, washclothes, dish soap, cooking utensils, bedding, etc. *Cabin was clean and smelled great when we arrived. *Plenty of room for our group of 7. *No neighbors - our cabin was on it's own plot of land and the nearest neighbor was at least a mile away. It was quiet and we didn't have to worry about the kids playing outdoors. *Hot tub! We chose this cabin in part because it offered a hot tub and we were not disappointed. Their hot tub was modern and wonderful and we used it every night we were there. *Beds were super comfy and bedding was nice and clean-smelling. *Small water feature in the backyard had live frogs and our children had a blast watching them! *Upstairs and downstairs patio - upstairs patio was directly off the living room and had a sturdy railing going all the way around so the kids could be out there blowing bubbles or playing without our having to worry about them. *Great fire pit. *Grounds were very nice and well-kept. View off the back patio was fantastic! Cons: *No bathroom on main floor. You have to go up or down to use the bathroom. This was an issue for us since we had a 2-year-old in our group that had to be walked to and from the bathroom. *Cabin does show it's age a bit. Overall, the cabin was very nice but it could use some updating. One of the windowsills downstairs was covered in some sort of mold and several of the patio chairs (and a recliner in the living room) were broken or in need of repair. The fridge had a note telling us not to overload with items or it would stop working which seemed a little strange. *The stairs were an issue for us as the stairs leading upstairs were open slat and our little girls were fearful when ascending. The stairs leading downstairs were wide open and we were constantly watching out for the 2-year-old so she wouldn't inadvertently fall down. If you're nearby, check out the following attractions: Hocking Hills Adventures (http://www.hockinghillscanoeing.com/) - we went canoeing there and it was great! Pizza Crossing (http://www.pizzacrossing.com/) - Great pizza place suggested by the locals and we weren't disappointed!
