Came for a birthday party & what an experience. The consultants were super energetic and informative. All were super glam and accommodating to the group of 15 with easy and poise. We had the whole space to ourselves and we all got the minimum required for the event ($65) and came out with our own personalized gloss or lipstick or linar. They were down for taking pictures (and the esthetics in there are a vibe). My consultant got a little frustrated becuase my group had a little ADD but it still was great experience and I recommend for a solo experience or group. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK

The actual experience of making the lipstick and the cheek stick was very fun and love the concept. I will say they were definitely busy and they have a 10 minute late policy that they wont seat you if you are more then 10min late but we got there on time for our reservation and waited 18 minutes to be seated for two of us and then when we were seated the person that was doing it with us was told she had to take a break which we understand but it was a little frustrating after waiting so then another person came up and started doing things with us and then right after that somebody else took over and that person we had the rest of time until the end when somebody else bagged our stuff and gave us everything. But I saw like a bigger party come in right after us and got seated immediately and I just felt like we kinda got a lesser experience than others. In all we did have fun and it was a great idea for a birthday outing.

Lip Lab Soho was more of a visual experience than immersive. From the moment we walked in, we were hit with bold pinks and a setup that felt more like a beauty showroom than a retail space. I loved all the pink! I went as part of a birthday celebration with six friends, and even though we were a bit late for our 4:30 reservation, the staff got us seated after a bit of shuffling. My color expert, Monee, was the highlight of my experience. She was patient, funny, and gave honest, helpful feedback while I tried to choose the right shade of fiery red. I don't usually wear lipstick, but I ended up naming mine Phoenix Flame (inspired by my love for Harry Potter, lol!) and the boldness of the shade. Watching the mixing process behind the scenes was cool, though you're not the one making it, which I think is important to know beforehand. My biggest issue was how steep the price of this experience was. Between the $25 deposit (which doesn't count toward the $65 minimum spend), I walked away with one lipstick and a branded bag. At nearly $100, it's definitely a luxury experience. And with only one bathroom for all guests, the setup wasn't quite as elevated as the price suggests. Still, if you're going for a special occasion--birthday, bachelorette, girls' weekend--it's a memorable and super custom way to mark the occasion. Just know that you're paying for curated fun, that could very well be duplicated by simply lipstick shopping.

I visited Lip lab and I had good experience making a lip balm and lipstick. I took off the expiration sticker off my lip balm and there is a big hole. There is nothing protecting the lip balm besides the sticker. Their customer service team stated that the hole is their company's standard. This is odd considering any lip product in the pharmacy does not have this issue. Their lipstick container does not have this issue. Their solution to this unhygienic issue is just don't remove the sticker. They did not offer any solution, declined to provide a replacement or credit. This gaping hole was not brought up by the sales associate at the time of purchase and it is not shown in their website so there is lack of transparency. Had I known that their lip balm product is unhygienic, I would not have spent $35 on it.

This is a fun activity in NYC especially on a rainy day. We booked a spot the day before when we saw rain in the forecast and we booked one of the first appointments of the day which I totally recommend, because when we got there it was only one other group and a few others came in after we were seated (this was on a Saturday morning). There were two of us! It was only the pricier side for sure $90 for a lip balm and gloss, but it was fully custom and it was fun to interact with and watch the process! The woman helping us was Angie and she was great, very friendly and definitely knew what she was doing- I really appreciated her ideas and recommendations! I was really happy with the experience and love the products I left with, I've already used them a few times! Definitely a fun stop and we chose the gloss and balm combo but they have tons of other options!

Cute store, cute experience! Staff were nice, but a little disorganized. We were greeted and "checked in" for our reservation by one person, and then another person comes up to ask for our information again, but then seats us at the makeup bar without giving us any further detail. So we waited there for about 10mins before grabbing the attention of the woman who sat us to inquire what was next. She apologized and another woman came over to start our session. She thought we had chosen what we wanted, but as it was our 1st time and no one had instructed us on the process, we didn't know what to do. Aniya then apologized as we were supposed to have been explained how to choose what we wanted to make (gloss vs lip stick), matte/satin/sheer, color family, and other details. It is about $85-150 per person, depending on what options you elect. She was very knowledgeable and made the rest of our experience awesome. The lipsticks and liners are vegan and very creamy, even the matte. It was such a cute process, and we loved the way our cosmetics turned out. Despite the initial snafu, I would definitely return. 8/10

My friend decided to bring me to lip lab in nyc in The village. Encouraged to make an appointment because It was packed. It was a fun experience creating our own colors, name of our own lipstick and design. The Staff was really nice And patient. It was a $100 per person so a little pricey but you get a lipgloss and lipstick with it. You can actually order in the future as well because they saved your information. I reccomend to do this with your girls or a mommy and me day. I feel it could have more exciting if there was good music playing and or snacks or drinks offered.

Sucha a fun and cute experience with ya girls. We were a party of 7 but we didn't feel rushed during our time picking our perfect shade. The engraving is a nice touch to the lipstick you make. Kinda wish there were more selections for the font engravings and scents.

So fun with our teen and tweens
    Roxy H.

This was so fun!! Took our tween and teens for a Sunday day of fun. The first step was that you tell the "chemist" what color you want and if you want a gloss, balm or lipstick. You name your custom product and they label it for you. It's very cool! They mix your color to your liking. You can add a scent or sparkle to your product too! I would advise it's pricey! But worth it! It was super fun to do this with my teen!

My experience at lip lab was extremely lack luster. The technician that worked with my sister and I was very dull and very unwelcoming. She messed up several times making my lipstick. First she did not mix the correct amount to make the lipstick so she had to do the mix over, then when putting the lipstick into the bottle she did that incorrectly so the lipstick went into the bottle slanted. Because of this, she had to complete the entire process over. When she was engraving the top of the lipstick bottle the name did not go on completely so she had to do that over as well. I did not use my lipstick the day it was made I used it the following day. When I opened it the following day the entire lipstick broke off and fell out the bottle now I can not use it. Also I asked for a matte finish and was given a sheer finish. When I reached out to costumer service they told me to take it back to the store or mail it in which is now an inconvenience for me.

Came for my birthday last night and it was the most fun!! Will be back for sure. And love that they keep the info in the computer in case you want to reorder

A fun experience with your girl friends! Is a bit overpriced as others here have mentioned? Yes you can definitely get lipstick for cheaper but you pay for the experience and for the precision of the color you want. The entire process is fun and the "chemists" really want you to leave with a color you are happy with and they work with you to make it work. Often they nail it on the first try!

the laser pointer to engrave the tops to lipsticks and lip gloss. and the employee who's energy was off/negative.
    Princess April S.

so the experience was great! the only thing i felt was off was the energy of one employee who had an issue with the toilet not working after i told her someone else before me used it and told me it wasn't flushing. from then her attitude and energy was very odd. other than that, those who served us and helped us with our glosses and lipsticks were beautiful and helpful and great!

I am going with a friend to have 2 lipsticks done for each of us. Is it better for us to each book our sessions individually (x2 lipsticks for one person) in adjacent seats, or to book once (x2 lipsticks for two people) for the same seat?

Hi Ella! Best to book once (x2 for two people) to be seated together automatically. We look forward to seeing you. :)

Can two people split the Bespoke service? And if so, can a "Custom" appointment that's already been made be changed to the "Bespoke" service?

Hi there! The Bespoke service is meant for one person only, therefore, can't be shared. We can make adjustments to any booked service. I recommend calling or emailing the Lip Lab directly.

What's the difference between the custom and bespoke service? And can you purchase physical gift cards in the store?

The less expensive custom option is when you choose a color that already exists. Then you choose the finish (matte, satin, etc) and the scent. The bespoke option is when they… Read more

How long is the entire process? I'm going with two people and we're doing the $150 service.

There were two of us. Our rep took about 2 hours with us. We choose from existing colors. We never felt rushed, in fact there was quite a bit of joviality and laughter. I was even able to look at color choices in true sunlight!! An experience I plan… Read more

When scheduling an appointment online what does it mean when it gives you the option of Artist A, B or C?

It's meant to designate which Lip Artist you're booking but I believe the individual it represents changes. This is just likely for Lip Lab's benefit to help them with scheduling.

How much does a custom lipstick cost? Is making a reservation recommended?

I did the 2 shades per person it was 80$ one shade is 55. They also have some more expensive one that also includes a lip kit which is 150. Definitely make a reservation they are booked usually and turned ppl away who didn't have reservations.

How old do you have to be because my 11 yr wants to go?

    There isn't an age limit.

Are gratuities expected after services, like at a hair salon?

    I tipped!

I walked into a space that covers a lot of ground, from snacks and drinks to beauty products, home goods, and collectibles, and the density of what is on display makes it easy to spend more time browsing than I planned. The snack selection is the strongest draw and covers an impressive range. I saw Asian versions of familiar American snacks sitting alongside Japanese and Korean originals, and the drink section downstairs is broad enough that finding something I have not tried before is a near certainty. The variety of drinks, many with anime or character branding, reflects a buying approach that goes beyond the standard convenience store selection. The beauty and skincare section upstairs is well stocked with Korean and Japanese brands that are not widely available at American drugstores. I browsed through everything from face wash to sheet masks and specialty treatments, and the prices are competitive for imported products of this type. Blind boxes occupy their own significant section, and the selection across different series is one of the better in the city, with reasonable pricing relative to what the same items cost at specialty toy stores. Home goods, toys, collectibles, and kawaii accessories fill the remaining floor space. For a one stop shop for Korean and Japanese lifestyle goods, snacks, and beauty products in Koreatown, TESO Life delivers a broad and browsable experience that rewards repeat visits.

I walked into a store that is essentially one large room, and the density of product on display meant navigating it during a busy period required some patience, but the selection within that compact space was broader than the size suggested. The Korean literature section covers both Korean language and English language editions across a range of genres, which makes it genuinely useful for anyone studying the language or looking for titles that are difficult to find at general bookstores in the city. I saw children's books in Korean, well stocked. The K pop side of the store covers albums, photocards, posters, keychains, stickers, and merchandise across a wide range of artists, with BTS having a particularly strong presence historically alongside newer groups. Pricing runs higher than what I would pay ordering online or finding the same items at a larger retailer, which is the standard trade off for a specialty shop in Manhattan. Album prices in particular can be steep, though sale events bring them down to more competitive territory. Individual accessory items like stickers and bookmarks are priced at a premium relative to their size, so going in with a sense of what I am willing to spend helps avoid sticker shock at the register. The store is a reliable stop for anyone looking for Korean books or K pop merchandise in a physical retail setting in New York, with the caveat that the pricing and the crowd level are both factors worth knowing about before I go.
