Visited Lior's again - now making it my fourth visit. Each time the food has remained phenomenal. The service was good and I was checked on often by both management and my server. I, again, ordered the Shrimp Bombs which have become my go-to dish. The taste is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. I tried something new - the Swim Biscuit. I picked the strawberry flavor. I've never had anything like it. I would compare it to a biscuits and gravy dish but make it sweet. It was truly an experience and I did enjoy it. Lior's has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I look forward to each visit.

This was my first time here.. omg!! I wasn't disappointed. The food, ambiance and staff wow!! I'm definitely coming back and recommend others to check them out. They're a gem in the Roseland community. Appetizer: Acora and Haitian Patty wow!! 1 course: Legume 2 course: oxtails- I got my black card back!! First time trying it.

Great service, clean and inviting atmosphere and they have the most flavorful food you could ever imagine.

Lior's Cafe is a beautiful and culturally significant restaurant in Roseland. Chicago needs more Haitian restaurants. The service was good, attentive but not all over you. The food! Out of this world! Their Haitian Mustard sauce is so delicious and needs go the bottles. The Pikliz was a perfect topping for all the food! I definitely recommend the red snapper and Griot (fried pork). But everything was delicious so try it all if you can.

This place should be packed!!!!! To see native Haitian and Caribbean people eating here always reminds me that the cuisine is authentic and legit. The manager Brandon was patient, kind, and very communicative. The venue is clean and the aesthetic is modern while honoring the culture specifically through original artwork by a local muralist. I hope next time I go on Saturday afternoon I struggle to get a table. The food was made fresh and I wish I could have licked the plate. I've never had oxtails so rich in flavor and I've only ever experienced kale in smoothies but those kale greens have set a new healthy standard. I look forward to going back and trying everything on the menu. Try this place. Tip well. Thank me later!!!

Food - perfect and generous portions. And holy is the food so so so good. Service - absolutely perfect timing of dishes coming out. They do not skimp on making sure you have what you need at all times. Ambiance - very rare. Do you need a chill place? This place can do it. Do you need a party vibe? This place can do it.

I went for the first time. Food: The Shrimp Bombs-delicious! I don't know what was in the sauce but they were so good! I had a 2nd course for dinner. The 2nd course entree comes with Pikliz, Banan Peze and two sides. I'm not a fan of spice but I tried The Pikliz to try it and it was good for someone who enjoys spice. I got The Oxtail, Mac&Cheese and Cabbage. The Cabbage was cool. It didn't wow me but it didn't scare me. LOL. The Mac & Cheese was good and cheesy which is a plus for me. The Oxtail was good! That Oxtail Sauce was so good! Drinks: N/A. As of now, there is no alcohol served. Non alcoholic drinks are available. I stuck with water. Service: Good! The server was great! The owner/manager Brandon was nice and very communicative. He spoke to my friend and I and discussed the restaurant and made sure we were good. Atmosphere/Ambiance: It was quiet. My friend and I were the only guests until we were almost finished eating. Final Thoughts/Recommendations: I'd return. Get those Shrimp Bombs!

So I came here for lunch and didn't know what to expect...ummm I just don't know cause as a fellow Haitian we are our own worse critics for some reason. I called in my order and when I got there there was no one but family and workers in the restaurant, now granted it was lunch time and they been opens for about 30-45 minutes I was the only true customer but whatever. Now the dining area is nice, could had been more organized. It was receipts and paperwork at the host's post, paperwork at the bar etc. Lets get to the food, now it reminded me of a cafeteria at school... which idk how I feel about but I feel something!! Lmao!! All the foods were in different pans over heating stations which makes me feel like you can be eating yesterday meals... Now don't get me wrong, Haitian Food is a labor of love!!! If a Haitian gives you food just know they was in the kitchen for like 5 hours! For real tho! Anyway... food: I got the lunch special griot with fried plantain and diri blanc and sos pwa and some other kind other kind of sos that didn't taste right...so that's like fried pork with plantains, if you know you know with white rice and bean sauce and some other sauce...I also got the oxtails with diri djon djon and plantains. Which is oxtails with mushroom rice. Hunny let me tell ya!!! That griot and oxtail was the sh*t!!! It was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection... although the fat part of my griot could have been fried a little harder for my liking but overall delicious... they were seasoned just right. The oxtail with butter beans were perfect and the meat fell right off the bone! Boy I was sucking on them oxtails like... let me be quiet lmao anyway, white rice was excellent but the mushroom rice I had an issue with, it was salty for my liking and did you guys use the Maggie version of djon djon or real djon djon bc idk it tasted like the Maggie version but either way I was excited to eat it but it didn't do it for me.. and the plantains could have been fried harder.. baby when I eat a fried plantain I need that crunch! It's all about the crunch...anyway maybe I need to come back in the evening when everything booming Yall should still try it and tell me what yall think... I will be back

Lior's is a cultural, comfortable place to be. Food is delicious and seasoned to perfection, and waiters are friendly and informative. Get either the stewed chicken or the ox tails, you wont regret it!

Let me begin by saying the ambiance was nice. The service was a tad bit slow, upon being seated it took our waitress more than a few minutes to come and bring water. As well as take our order. After a while the manager( Bryan or Brandon) came by to introduce himself and apologize for the delay, stating that they had a large catering order to get out. The food upon arrive to the table was horrible, absolutely No Flavor at all. The best thing about this past Sunday's visit was the patte. The goat was tough and unseasoned. Seemed as though the cooking was rushed. Let me also add that we weren't made aware that they served drinks at the bar, there was no even a menu given for that.maybe the establishment can get one the the bar area. Here's hoping they get better with the flavor.

Lior's Cafe is a beautiful in the inside and outside with glorious paintings as well as a welcoming ambience. First, we started off with the Bomb Shrimp. It was literally THE BOMB. We then had Oxtail..I tried for the first time and OMG so good. With veggies ofc theeeennnn the manager was so kind to give us Mac & Cheese on the house!! Me and hubby are definitely coming back!!

I raved about this place to my boyfriend just to be beyond disappointed and flabbergasted with this visit. I made a 7:15 reservation just be ignored for 50 minutes to place an order. The waitress ignored us. The gentleman floating around in a suit didnt acknowledge us. They all continued to run to the back of the restaurant. If you're understaffed and are having difficulties with wait times that should be disclosed as soon as possible. I asked for my reservation deposit back after waiting for way too long and they gave it back immediately, no apology or anything. They had multiple large parties and other people who had already ordered were also complaining about the wait time to receive their food. I wouldn't suggest even trying this place if you don't get here when they first open. I left two stars just because the food really was good my first visit. But their operations are horrible and need a lot of work. My boyfriend said this is the type of restaurant they fix on the TV shows

I grabbed the 2 meat, 3 side special which included: stewed chicken, jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. There's a solid amount of food and I'm going to be eating on this over the next two days. There's rice and peas were incredibly flavorful, moist and had a hint of spice. The stewed chicken's skin was falling off! That's how tender it was and I love anything with bell peppers and onions. The cabbage was solid with great crunch. Sometimes it can get too mushy, but this didn't. The plantains were just right!! Great palate cleanser as I transitioned to the jerk chicken! And the jerk chicken was a hit!!! Good amount of spice and flavor! And juicy! I also had extra jerk sauce on the side. Hmmmm I honestly enjoyed both chickens and would say if you're unsure of which to get, just get both... you'll definitely order from here again lol I ordered through uber eats and naturally was PRAYING that my order was correct and it was. A nice hefty serving and of course I also have a slice of the caramel cake. Mannn this slice of cake is so dang delicious. The two miles that I run tomorrow for this will be so worth it! This hit the spot and was the meal I needed after the day that I've had!

I had never been to the brick-and-mortar location until now. I stopped in one Sunday afternoon to a restaurant that was not busy on the inside. I noticed there was a steady stream of individuals coming in for carryout. Nevertheless, I had a sit-down so that I could try a few items. I ordered the Belizean appetizer sampler. This came as panades, garnaches, and conch fritters. I liked the panades, which were corn patties stuffed with buffalo fish. They were nice and flavorful. The garnaches reminded me of Venezuelan tostadas. I think that what was a miss for this dish was the drizzle of ketchup. Since I stopped using condiments from grocery stores, the flavor of such tends to ruin dishes for me. I liked the conch fritters. I would order those by the bagful just to have for snacks. My main dish was the stew chicken with rice and beans and a side of plantains. Surprisingly, this was more like baked chicken. There was no hint of cumin, cloves, or garlic. There were no tomatoes. There wasn't a sauce or a gravy. There was flavor, of which I give them that, but the same stew that I've had in Belize and in my Belizean friends' home was not served here. It very well may be that the dish prepared here simply differs from that which I have had before. It wasn't a bad thing. Not everyone prepares every dish the same way.

Yam was good to me, but too sweet for my friend. Greens were good to my friend, but needed more spice to me. Overall, sides are solid, but may need to be doctored to one's preference. My wait time on a Friday afternoon at 5pm had a 40-minute wait time. How do I know? Because I kept feeding the meter on the online parking app. There were many delivery people picking up food, including some folks that may have just finished a work shift and was grabbing food before going home. No I didn't get the pizza. I believe because Loyola University sits in the neighborhood, the restaurant is catering to the college kids by offering pizza. I decided to order some food for myself and husband - jerk wings, brown-stew chicken and jerk catfish - both with candied yams, rice and peas, and plantains; plus one slice of rum cake. After 25 minutes I checked on my order and was told there were no more candied yams, and I can replace it with cabbage and select 2 can sodas. When I got home, one of my orders actually did have candied yams, but somehow both included cabbage and macaroni and cheese. OK?! Well I guess I'll get to sample all of their sides! Let's start with the Jerk Chicken Wings. The presentation could have been worked on, however, the flavor was actually good and different from other places I've been. It had sort of a sweet and spicy flavor, but not overwhelmingly spicy. If I was to go here again, I wouldn't get the jerk catfish because they give you catfish fillet and not catfish steaks - which is what I prefer. Plus for the price - $25, I believe there should be more fish in this container. Can you see the catfish in my attached photos? No?! That's because it's in the top right corner underneath the jerk gravy (great flavor by the way). In fact, all the food had great flavors; especially for carryout. The candied yams were my favorite. Second would be the rice and peas. My hubby tried his food the next day and said the rice tasted mushy but had a good flavor. We believe that it was mushy because it had been over 24 hours and various refrigeration at home and his job. The chicken pieces were all dark meat (legs and thighs). On the online menu, it's called Jamaican Black Cake, but in the restaurant, it's called Rum Cake. Well you taste the rum on first bite, after that it tastes like raisins. I don't have to get that again. I've definitely have had better rum cake, and didn't have to pay $8 for a small sliver. I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars because of the enormous wait time, my order mix up and the not so tasty and expensive Black Cake / Rum Cake.

There was a time that I would recommend this place to anyone that would listen but it has gone downhill. With the price of things nowadays you cannot waste money at places that are inconsistent. I recently ordered the jerk mac-n-cheese with a 1/4 jerk chicken and steamed cabbage. The great thing is that they have a short wait time for delivery and the food arrived on-time. That was probably the only thing good about the experience. When I opened my jerk mac it was soupy. I was confused as to why but I noticed the jerk chicken was drenched in a sauce. I have ordered this dish before and it did not have this level of sauce on it. The sauce made the dish like a soup and extremely salty. It tasted like I was eating a spoon full of salt with every bite. The 1/4 jerk chicken was cooked decently but it was mostly bones. The sauce on the chicken was so salty that it overpowered the dish. Not being able to get jerk chicken right when it's in your name and you're a Jamaican spot is a sign for me to stop trying. The cabbage was just as bad. It was so hard that it tasted like the cabbage you get from the premade salad bags but with some sauce on it. I couldn't even eat it because it was undercooked. The cabbage used to be my favorite side from them. I think my time with Aunty's Joy has passed. They have forgotten items when I ordered for delivery and the food is always so hit or miss.
