This was the best meal I've ever had in Amsterdam. In Europe. In the world. Everything was just absolutely AMAZING.

It doesn't seem like much but I had a great solo experience at Craft & Draft. I was ending the More…read moreBeer tour at Craft & Draft, which is the last stop where you pick up your free t-shirt! The bartenders were super nice and friendly (always a pleasant surprise) and were talking to the other regulars about what they did last night and what they plan to do after work. Super casual. It seemed like they were also very knowledgeable about beer so if you're not sure, you can consult with them to get recommendations. The beer was great and there were a lot of options. The location is near the park and also near a tram stop if you want to take public transport after your beers (or beer tour, in my case). I hope to do the beer tour again when I'm in Amsterdam and therefore come back to Craft & Draft.

Wooden tables and finishing, black chalkboard, 40 taps and a pleasant bar man who is knowledgable about beer. This is a good place for a pint and there will be options to fit whatever taste you have. I got a lovely IPA recommended to me and really enjoyed it. It's quite far out the centre, but that's actually a good thing and it's worth the walk. If you like craft beer and find yourself in Amsterdam you should make the effort to visit craft & draft.

The menu's are in Dutch for the most part, but the staff speak English to help you navigate the menu. The have a nice variety of micro-brew beers, but not extensive. The Zeebonk IPA I had was tasty. The service is slow, at least when we were here at the lunch hour. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the decor is eclectic.

The food was delicious, the beers were excellent, and the service was wonderful. The young man who took care of us was probably one of the best dining experiences we've ever had - you could tell he was not only thoughtful and attentive, but he knew the beers extremely well and even was nice enough to give us a peek at the brewery. We tried all of the beers they had on tap. Our favorites were the Tripel, the New England IPA, and the Russian Imperial Stout, but everything we tried was delicious. Even the Session IPA, which I normally don't go for, was impressive. The food was tasty - we started with the Charcuterie Board, and for dinner opted for the Catch of the Day (Cod) and the Steak. The charcuterie board was very unique, with house pickled vegetables, a nice whole grain mustard, and four different types of meat. This included rabbit (so tender, our absolute favorite), deer (native to The Netherlands, it wasn't quite to our taste, but still cool to try), and two others, I believe a pork sausage which was really good, and one more meat that I don't recall. For our mains, the steak was so impressive. Perfectly cooked (we requested medium rare) and juicy...it was probably one of the best steaks I've tried. The fries were nice, as was the salad that accompanied it. The cod was the star of my dish - cooked perfectly, buttery and falling apart at the touch of a fork. The potato triangle that came with it was nice as well. The spinach salad was nice, but as I'm not really a fan of fennel, I tried to avoid that. The foam/sauce served with the cod was alright but wasn't really necessary given how nice the cod was on its own. My dining partner enjoyed the little fried prawns more than I did. I would highly recommend checking out Pension Homeland for dinner, beers, or both. I'm a little bummed we hadn't opted to stay at the hotel there, as the building was nice and had a beautiful harbor view, including the Martime Museum ship. The feel of the building was a little outdated, but in a pleasant and cozy way. I definitely would have been drinking their delicious beers at the bar or playing pool at the end of each evening! Thank you to the thoughtful young man who took care of us that evening and provided a great dining experience. Do yourself a favor and include this as a stop on your visit to Amsterdam.
