Lisa, took the time to listen and meticulously sectioned my hair to meet the LAYERS that I love and and is obsessed about. I'm new to the area and learned about Lisa via yelp. As my way of appreciation for this app, I'm writing my very first review in efforts to help other "yelpers" out there who are in search for quality service.

To be honest, previous experiences with Vanessa kept me away for a long time, but having Marisa at the helm changes everything. Marisa is a true master of her craft--her skills, attention to detail, and overall approach are second to none. Thank heavens for the new ownership! I couldn't be happier to be back in her chair.

Updating my review from last year and I'm retaining my 5-star rating. The owner, Vanessa, is one of…read morethe main reasons for this rating. She truly cares about her clients and makes sure they are properly taken care of, either by her or her staff. I get my Aveda hair and skin products here and when the Mint does not have an item in stock, they order it for you and contact you when the product(s) come in. This was the reason I visited the store today. Vanessa also informed me that Aveda is changing its skin care product line, and she should know the results in December. She said she would inform me of any changes and if any of my favorites were being discontinued, she would let me know so I could "stock up". Now that is great customer service! Also, I noticed the sign at the front counter stating "American Express was no longer accepted" was missing. (During my last visit three weeks ago, the receptionist confirmed this per the sign.) I asked Vanessa about this, and she stated she is accepting AmEx again as she discovered this was the primary credit card for so many of her customers. Now, that's listening and responding to your clientele! Vanessa was working the receptionist station today as she is looking for a someone that is mature and has some professional experience as a receptionist or a salon team member to take over this position. I said I would keep an eye out and if I had any recommendations, I would let her know. As a satisfied customer, I like to help out our small business owners any way I can.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at InStyle Salon. I went in for full highlights, but…read morethe results were chunky, uneven, and the highlights started 1-3 inches away from my scalp. When I reached out to have it fixed, the stylist (Jessica) attempted a "root touch-up," which only made things worse--the top half of my hair ended up a completely different color from the bottom, with strong orange tones. When I contacted the salon again, the director (Lisa Reule) was unapologetic and only offered for me to return a third time so they could "fix" it. At that point, I had lost all confidence in their ability and went to Mosaic Salon instead, where they were able to repair the damage. Mosaic has always done beautiful work for me, and this experience reminded me it's worth the extra drive to go somewhere with real expertise. I do not recommend InStyle Salon, but I highly recommend Mosaic for professional, consistent results.

My first hair appointment I was notified last minute it needed to be pushed back 30 minutes and it didn't start till 1 hour past the time. My second appointment she last minute asked to change from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. I told her quickly that wouldn't work and I waited to hear back. By the time I heard back, it was too late for me to make it to this appointment. I had to organize my whole week around this appointment and I feel like the repeated tardiness and last minute notification was unprofessional. Then she said I had to pay for the entire service and she is threatening to take it to court. I thought she was a professional and would be respectful of peoples time. But now she is wanting to charge me $300 for services not rendered and threatening legal action. Response To Owner: I have screenshots showing the text exchanges with her which shows I was never 45 minutes late, to the initial consult. I was 1 minute late to the 6/26/2024 1:30 pm consultation appointment due to issues finding parking and where the entrance was located. You can see where I texted that I was parking, along with the timestamp. Then my first hair appointment on 6/27/2024 I was on time, but had to wait an hour past the appointment time for it to start. I attached the text communication to show that as well. I have also attached the text exchange on the last minute communication for today's (07/02/2024 1:30 pm) appointment and you can see the timestamps on those exchanges as well.

She reached out via text instead of calling, which to me was very considerate and convenient. The work I had done (color and cut) left me very happy, and I actually had compliments on it after, so yay! The salon is super cute and they even sell clothes and accessories there, so definitely check out their reception area while you wait. The "stylist" coloring skills are HORRIFIC, Her lack of skills(in both cut and color) and behavior throughout the agonizing ordeal proved EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Not only did she not "hear" what I wanted, she preceded to color as she wanted. She applied only base color to areas that i asked for highlights and that base was the WRONG SHADE! She also became more concerned with the client and conversation happening next to us to where she was constantly dropping tools, losing her foil placement to the point she left foils open on my head to grab her phone to show photos and engage in their conversation. Then tells me im done after her time from chatting(foil still open) proceeds to wash(fastest wash ive ever had after a foil, my shirt got so wet i had to ask for a dry cape)After the dry showed she not only missed the most important TOP of my head with foils(to her quote "the foils didnt take up top and im not sure why") Im not a stylist but maybe cuz you left open along with starting at the bottom of my head instead of top??? The base color blend job looks like a child finger painted blotchy spots the wrong shade of brown on the top of my head, not a drop of color on my bangs, left me with color smudges all around my face(that she tried to hide in blow dry) my scalp burned and was irritated for a week after(hence she didn't bother to thoroughly shampoo or condition) and destroyed the shirt I wore to appt with brown dye that bled down my back. I told her I wanted the highlights that she was suppose to give me. She agreed. Day of that appt I came in stating my scalp was still burning and asked to resched a few days later to which she agreed. I then showed her my destroyed shirt. Her reply " oh yeah, that happens sometimes" No apologies, nothing. I showed up to the rescheduled appt, building was locked up at 3pm on a Saturday, no call no explanation. Also, they have a GROUPON out now and it's only for this particular girl. BUYER BEWARE

She's new to Fresno and so to anyone who is looking for someone to do their hair or makeup or hair&makeup prior to a photo shoot (done by Leslee also) you're in serious luck! She is a jack of all trades, incredibly talented in so many different ways, and smart enough to create a business that incorporates all of her abilities. She did my hair and makeup for an event I had this past Friday night and I have never felt so flawless and stunning in my whole life. She made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in the door and she also does eyelash extensions (which is the reason I initially contacted her) then once I realized that she can do the most perfect beachy curls I set up a last minute appointment with her to get my hair done before the event I was attending, when I discovered she does makeup too I instantly booked an appt with her to do that as well. So in addition to my hair, she also did my makeup (exactly how I asked, very natural looking and not too intense, with glue on lashes for a naturally effortless glam effect) as we sat there chatting she shared with me that not only is she a hair and makeup pro, she is an incredibly talented photographer too (don't just take my word for it, check out her photography Instagram--i put her ig accounts below)..this is a genius and the most unique business model I've ever heard of and I can't wait to spread to word to all my friends and family and to the Yelp community. For photo shoots, wether it is an engagement photo shoot, baby's newborn shots, one year old baby shots, family photos for holiday cards, graduation pictures, you name it--she has a special package where you arrive an hour early and she will do you hair and makeup ensuring you look and feel you best for your special photos...you don't have to worry about a thing because Leslee will make you look flawless and feel gorgeous--which will make your photos turn out even better because you only have to worry about smiling and enjoying yourself; because you will know without any doubt you look perfect due to Leslee's talents. I just had her style my hair but as I went through her Instagram dedicated to doing hair I realized she is a truly talented colorist as well as stylist. I learned that she loves what she does which is what makes her so talented at what she does!!! I would give her more than 5 stars if I could. If you're looking for someone for hair, makeup, style consulting, photographer, eyelash extensions--you've found the best in Fresno. We are so lucky to have her talents and passion in town. I highly recommend that you give Leslee a call or send her a message in order to book an appointment with her to see for yourself you can also check out her Instagram accounts- @looksbyleslee (for hair and eyelashes) and for photography @lesleehousephotography ! I am looking forward to seeing Leslee in the very near future for my eyelash extensions and will be sure to update this review with some pictures afterwards. For every event I have from now on--she's my go-to girl! Thank you for making me look and feel gorgeous! You're such a talented hair stylist and expert makeup artist who listens and then applying makeup to meet your specific needs. I left looking better than I ever thought was possible! I'm so grateful I found Leslee!

She has done my hair before which came out good hence why I went back for braids this time. But the first time and only time I went to her I got a sew in (NOT BRAIDS). She tells me the last time she did my hair I got braids.... She said that I expressed to her " they were too tight and needed to be taken down". (WHICH WAS NOT TRUE) Therefore this time around she told me she did not feel comfortable doing my braids. I then explain to her that she's only done my hair once and it was a sew in. I never had braids done by her. And I never would ask for my hair to be taken down or out because I am not tender headed at all. Even if I was it's just not something I would say. I even showed her a picture of the hairstyle that she did on me a couple years ago. She then look's me in my face and said that wasn't her that did it....and she feels uncomfortable braiding my hair. Because she braids too tight. But like I said I never got braids done by her. I have got braids done for many years By different people. Never had to deal with someone refusing to do my hair. She is the only person I've seen working there and for me to be lied to when I had proof was mind blowing. All I wanted was 2 braids but she refused to do my hair.
