This is my favorite florist when in need of a flower lei, lei po'o or haku lei, or a any type of floral arrangement espacially for Mother's Day and Birthdays. It is a family owned lei shop located in Downtown Honolulu on Maunakea Street just prior to King Street. There is usually street parking but when it does get busy, it would help to have someone drop you off while they circle around. The employees are quick and you can get in and our right away. Everyone who works here are very nice and always so helpful and friendly. As soon as you get there, they are very welcoming. If you need something custom made, they can totally make it for you as well and so accommodating. They also cater to weddings, funerals, proms and any special ocassion that you may have. During Valentine's Day, they have these beautiful special colored roses available at a great price. I have been ordering from them for a very long time and love love their service, the quality of their flowers, and how they arrange everything together. If you are in need of any type of floral arrangement whether it be just a lei, or a haku, or something big or small, this is your spot. I was looking for a maile lei to take to Vegas for my soon to be brother in law . Called around and everyone I spoke to said I would need to double up the lei . When I called the guy that answered was really helpful and assured me one would be sufficient and it's full . He ssaid not me a pic of how theirs look and I was so happy . If I could give them ZERO stars I would. My ELDERLY mother spent almost $500 on leis and their shipping for my twin daughters graduation in North Carolina. They explained that shipping would take 3 days (I made it a point to be waiting at home so I could put the flowers directly in the fridge). THEY ARRIVED ROTTEN!!!! As soon as I opened the box it stunk (like old laulau). The Haku leis were thrown on top of the maile leis which crushed the maile leis. There was brown liquid in the bags with the leis. The flowers were in a NON-INSULATED cardboard box with 1 gel pack (the kind you put in your lunchbox). I'm almost certain that ice pack melted before the flowers even left the island much less made on a 3 day journey ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!!! Everything had to go directly into the trash the moment they arrived. When my mother went to explain the situation and ask for a refund, they only gave her a partial refund?!?! Excuse me?!?! How is my mother even partially responsible for their ineptitude?!?! They should have been ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES, they stole from an elderly woman and should be absolutely mortified by their behavior. There is a metered stall in front of your shop. A younger woman with glasses reproved me for attempting to park in the open stall claiming that your customer, who parked in the loading zone, was trying to reverse into the stall. He did not signal left to indicate what he was trying to do. He had his reverse lights engaged, indicating his would be leaving. I pulled into the open stall behind his vehicle assuming the male driver would be pulling away from the curb. Instead he reversed and would have hit my van if I didn't honk at him. I asked him what he was doing since he wasn't following any common driving courtesies. That's when your employee loudly informed me from your shop counter that he had been there a long time and was reversing. There was no way to know that's what he wanted to do since he didn't follow any driving protocol by signaling. Your employee was rude, speaking to me from your shop in a sharp tone. The other driver also rudely parked his car in such as way as to prevent anyone else from parking in that stall. The combination of both of these actions was very offputting and is something that I will consider the next time I need to make a purchase of a lei. Additionally, he was not there very much longer because in the time it took me to drive around the block and come back to that space he was already gone. Your employees should consider just because they think that they're doing something right, if they don't know the whole situation or if this person doesn't drive and doesn't understand driving courtesy or protocols then they shouldn't be making comments like that to potential customers especially creating an embarrassing situation. read more

I liked coming here because it was close to my apartment and prices were reasonable. I was walking here to purchase a maile lei for my coworker (mind you, I'm not that knowledgeable on these leis)-- I tried to take a picture of the lei and a haku to confirm with my coworker this is what she wanted. BUT, the owner (my first time meeting her) started yelling saying no photography and all of this stuff because she doesn't want to get robbed (which I completely understand) She then proceeded to tell me to just FaceTime my coworker who doesn't have an iPhone and I told her that and she said to make my coworker come down and look herself then. I ended up buying them just to find out it's not a maile lei but a ti leaf lei in maile style! And I can't return it because all sales are final. So in other words, it was a lose-lose situation. Do I want to continue my business here after this experience? No. Will I still come back? Only IF the prices are better and quality is nicer compared to other lei shops in downtown. read more

Sometimes I need to order all greenery hakus, or all white hakus, and if there's a budget, they're always willing to work with me on custom orders. I also appreciate that when making flower girl crowns, they'll ask for the ages to better accommodate the sizes for the flower girl crowns. Leis are pretty much necessary for any important celebration in Hawaii. For my Dad's birthday party, I wanted something classic and beautiful, at a reasonable price. Lin's Lei Shop in Chinatown to the rescue. While their website isn't the greatest, they are simply wonderful to work with on the phone. I spoke to Loretta and she helped me to come up with the perfect celebratory lei, a Hilo maile with kukuna'o'kala ($60). Pick up is a breeze. My beautiful lei was ready to go at the arranged time and packaged beautifully. I also ended up selecting another lei from the case (rather than pre-ordering) simply because they always have beautiful leis available. Loretta was very pleasant to work with and super sweet. If you are unsure of what you want but need something for a special event, definitely give them a call and pre-order to make sure they have the materials and time to make your perfect lei. It also doesn't hurt to familiarize yourself with the different types of Hawaiian flowers used for leis. Parking can be challenging since it's located in Chinatown. Lin's makes it so easy and convenient to pick up beautiful adornments. Called in a lei po'o/haku order a week before it was needed, and they were able to accommodate. Requested custom colors for a bachelorette. $40, and when I went to pick up, the expanse of filled fridges beckon for you to find more lovely beauties to bring home. Couldn't find street parking but there's a parking garage right across the street (cash, stairs only) and a marked crosswalk. I've purchased from this shop before and previous experiences were great. This time, not so. Prices are decent compared to across the street known florist. Selecting is good. Issue this time - no Hala lei and a wasted trip. Pre-ordered late Nov for 12/15. I was asked for a time. Said 10am. Called morning if 12/15 to ask if I could pick up at 1pm instead of 10am. Lady answered said it should be ok. I I asked if there were orange or red hala and she said only yellow. Since yellow hala is better than no hala, I said ok and got there at 12:50. NO HALA at all, and they couldn't find my order in their book. It was recorded for 12/16... Turns out Hala wasn't available anywhere (I ended up calling about a dozen places), so that can't be helped but the time wasted in driving and parking in China Town was frustrating. I said I called that morning and even showed my recent calls - it was the right number so someone in the shop told me they had hala leis, I did not call another florist by accident. They were apologetic and offered a Maile for $5 less so I got it, since Maile is second best lei for a Hawaiian Celebration of Life. It couldn't be helped that hala were not available, but I could have saved myself time and probably a few e dollars by getting a Maile from the airport lei stands. read more

I was looking for a haku lei for my engagement photos, and a co-worker recommended Lin's Lei Shop in Chinatown for my needs. I wanted to call ahead, as the haku lei I was requesting was all white. When I phoned the order in, the helpful clerk let me know that they could make one using white orchids, baby's breath, and fern. She said the cost was $25. Yay! I let her know the day and time of pickup, and she said it would be ready. I picked up the lei several days later on a bustling Saturday afternoon. Like clockwork, the lei was ready and gorgeous. It was full and fresh. The same girl who took my order over the phone was able to assist me in getting my lei. She instructed me to keep it in the fridge. When I asked her if it would stay fresh until the next day, she let me know it would stay fresh for several days. She was really kind and asked about our wedding, giving me advice about flowers. She even gave me a card for the owner in case I wanted to hire them to do flowers for our wedding. The lei itself was gorgeous and looked beautiful in our engagement pictures. I am so happy with it, and I will definitely come back the next time I need a custom haku lei made. P.S. - My lei stayed fresh for a week! I was able to wear it at my engagement photo shoot, then at a Yelp event that evening. I left it out on my TV stand for a week, and it still looked gorgeous! read more

I was on my way home to Dallas, TX and a local friend brought me here to order a dozen plumeria leis to pack for airline travel. Tony was so nice & personable. He did a great job and box was ready to go next day before my flight home. Leis were so fresh and lovely and my father was so appreciative to be able to give a "little Hawaii" to his nurses & techs. Lin's Lei Shop has been my key flower shop for a while now whenever I need flowers or leis for special occasions or when I visit my grandfathers at the Valley of the Temple. Lin's is conveniently located in Chinatown on Maunakea St, near N. King St. Street parking is super difficult, even finding an illegal space outside its store to do a quick stop and go is difficult. But there's a parking garage across the street. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. They have a lot more variety and their flowers are more beautiful and colorful than other stores. It's prices are about the same as other places with some that are a little more expensive. The quality, variety, beautiful arrangements, excellent customer service, and its price is what keeps me coming back to Lin's Lei Shop. read more

Located downtown so parking is a bit tricky but as long as you know/have in mind what you're looking to buy, you can get away with dashing in and out real fast if the traffic isn't too heavy! Their Haku leis are much more affordable than other places, and their standard orchid lei is only $6-8 -- way cheaper compared to the ones sold in grocery stores! As my friends and I were waking through Chinatown, I spotted a Ruby Ball Cactus for sale that was displayed along the sidewalk at Lin's Lei Shop. A Ruby Ball cactus is actually two cacti that are manually grafted together. A short, green stem made from a cut of the Queen of the Night cactus acts as the base with a root system, fused with a colorful albino cactus ball on top, usually found in red, yellow or orange. So why the big deal? My mom recently started a succulent terrarium with unique-looking plants, including an Orange Ball cactus though it recently died. She was so bummed about it and couldn't find a replacement anywhere on Maui, so I knew having this'd make her happy. I, including one of the workers thought the cactus would never pass through security due to the dirt, but my friend insisted she transported a plant to Maui without issue. So, I paid them $5.00 and the worker wrapped the pot in some paper and placed it a corsage container for hand-carried transport, like a piece of fragile glass. The precious cargo passed through security without question and lit up my mom's face as she received it, shouting in surprise with "Where did you find it"?! So thank you, Lin's Lei Shop, for carrying this elusive Caryophyllales that made my mom's day! read more

I hate to give this place a 3 star but customer service is very important to me. This review is based on my experiences on the service. I've been coming here for over 5 years now, they still continue to have unbeatable prices and good quality!!! Unfortunately, I have to say customer service is a hit and missed... Beware, the younger lady (reference to photo) is really rude and she'll yell at you if don't keep the fridge close but if you have the older ladies to help you, they're much nicer and friendlier.
