I've been coming here since I moved to Bellingham in 2003. I have always been very happy with their…read moreservice. After Dr. McEathron retired a few years ago, I have been seen by Dr. LeClaire. Dr. LeClaire is very thorough with her exam and spends so much time with contact lens fitting. Every time I go in for an annual eye exam and contact lens fitting, she looks for what's best for me. She usually sends me home with trial lenses with a new prescription to try out for a couple of weeks. A couple of years ago, I tried out three different prescriptions until I found what works best for me. She had me back for quick follow-up appointments to make sure of proper fitting each time, and there was no charge for them. It really shows how much she cares about her patients. The staff in the office are very helpful and very pleasant. They always checks my insurance benefits, and there's never been a surprise. I highly recommend Dr. LeClaire and her staff at Binyon Vision in Bellingham.

The first (local and trusted optometrist) told me there was no reason he couldn't see, he was making up the answers he was giving and that he must just want glasses. The second clinic was a vision therapy clinic where 4 of their optometrists did exams on my son at various points before, during and after participating in vision therapy. They continued to recommend vision therapy even though there was literally no improvement in my sons vision after 12 weeks of vision therapy and about 12 additional weeks of phototherapy. I took my son to Northwest Vision Development Center because I decided that if he was going to need ongoing therapy I would need to find someone closer to my home. Both myself and my sons pediatrician had trusted that the optometrists he had seen would let us know if they had concerns and since they had not indicated they believed there were any related medical conditions neither of us realized there might be something else going on. During the visit at NWVDC my son was evaluated for vision therapy and then seen for an eye exam by Dr. Charron. After the exam Dr. Charron told me that my son should be seeing better, that he wasn't going to recommend vision therapy because he didn't think it would help and that I needed to find out what was causing my sons vision issue. Fast forward 7 weeks to my sons appointment at Children's Ophthalmology. It turns out he has juvenile onset macular degeneration. Thankfully the length of time it took to get this diagnosis had no additional negative impact on my son, but I give Dr. Charron a huge amount of credit for 1) Not taking advantage of a parent who didn't know any better by recommending additional vision therapy, and 2) For setting me straight by letting me know there was more to this than I realized at the time. Had my son ended up being seen by NWVDC originally I would have saved myself close to $3000 and I would have saved both myself and my son a lot of time and frustration. I can't speak to the vision therapy done in this clinic since my son did not end up being treated; however, I would recommend this clinic to anybody because I saw how thorough they were in evaluating my child. After this experience I trust Dr. Charron 100% to do what is best for his patients. I would recommend Dr. Charron to anybody that asked for my input.

He is a big proponent of blue light filter lenses for people who use computers for many hours each day and he has spoken to me many times about the importance of having children's eyes checked early in life so as to detect potential problems. He always seems at ease and comfortable as he explains various technical terms in a way that is easy to understand and retain. Jill, the optician, is friendly and personable. When I picked out my frames she took a lot of time to help me find ones that I truly liked and that flattered my bone structure. I don't think that most opticians would be so thorough and honest with their customers when it comes to picking out their frames. I didn't feel rushed through the process at all and I love the way my glasses turned out! Tina is kind and has a very calm manner about her. She is certainly a pro with all the various eye testing machines around the office. But what stands out about her is the rapport that she builds with her customers. I hadn't been in to the office in many months but she remembered details that we had talked about during my previous visits. She knows how to make a customer feel valued. Jackie is always sweet and efficient and seems to enjoy her job and her coworkers. It is always a pleasure to come into the office for my appointments. When I picked up my glasses, asked again if I owed anything more - again 'no'. A month later, I'm told 'you have an outstanding balance of $128 - When I asked why, the response literally was 'I don't know, you just have a balance.' Now it turns out that the amount my insurance covered was 'less than we assumed.' None of that was ever explained throughout the process, until after I got my past due notice. Fact is, the cost is now as much as it would be for new frame and lenses anywhere else - Had I known that, I wouldn't have agreed to the transaction. Add to that the whole 'insurance paid less than we thought' thing - I've bough many a pair of glasses under the same insurance I have no - Never had an outfit pull that one on my before. When I complained, the office manager paid lip service to waiving the $128, but literally when I got home, my wife said she'd paid the bill - When I emailed that fact to the store, twice, I received zero response or acknowledgment, and still have not a few weeks later. I felt that the technicians taking my eye measurements and pertinent information were competent and thorough, listening well as I described what I was experiencing or what I needed. Allison helped me specially on several occasions--she has to be incredibly busy, and yet I always felt her friendly attention, interest and helpfulness to be very focused on meeting my needs. My experience with Dr. Kullas was beyond... I cannot recommend Dr. Christopher Kullas more highly: I could not have found a better physician and surgeon for my cataracts. Anywhere! On the technical and operational side, rarely have I met a person so meticulous--a quality so necessary in this work when you are dealing with measurements in microns or something like that. I felt confident by the information he imparted that he truly was expert in this area. He was very forthcoming about potential complications in my situation, and he involved me in his decision to diverge from his original plan to potentially increase the likelihood of the most optimal outcome based on my needs and wants, explaining his rationale and giving me choice. His plan worked! On the personal side, I found him to be a very caring physician and one invested in good communications. I found him easy to talk to, comfortable, genuinely pleasant and highly personable. He takes his time, ensuring you get what you need from him as he considers reasonable options. He explains well and checks-in with you. I felt informed, plus I felt wholly attended to. He is responsive. I never felt pressed or rushed even when extra time was needed for checking my specifics or optimizing strategies for my case.
