I recently got glasses from this store and wanted to share my experience. After I got home and looked at my prescription, I realized that an ADD was on it. I didn't even know what it was until I looked it up, and I didn't realize that without it I wouldn't be able to see up close because none of that was explained to me. When I declined "upgrades," I thought that meant things like anti-glare or scratch-resistant coatings -- not something essential for actually seeing clearly. The staff were friendly, but clearer communication about prescriptions for first-time progressive wearers would be very helpful. I hope this feedback improves the experience for future customers. Our family has used this store for glasses, contacts, and eye exams for at least 5 years. Service has been adequate, not great, overall. Product selection is good, but they are short on high-end products and notably did not show their entry-level products until asked repeatedly. Service is quick as is glasses turnaround. The benefit is they are local and generally have what we are looking for at a competitive value. I recommend the store, but know that you may need to ask more questions than is usual to get the product you're looking for. read more

Been going to Ferndale Vision Plus for 20 years and always received excellent service from Ann. Went today, after a long day at work and travelling 60 minutes from my normal commute, at 5:50, and they refused to sell me glasses: Ann wasn't there. The receptionist stated that they stop selling glasses at 5:30 though the store is open to 6:00. 5 out of 6 employees were chatting with each other when I walked in and acted like they didn't want me there (the receptionist wanted me to give her my information and come back another day though I stated I wasn't from Ferndale, she didn't care). My wife and I have bought several pairs of Ovvo glasses over the years here and I was going to get another pair. I knew what I wanted and would have been done in 5 minutes. Now we will have to drive further south to a store that wants our business. It's so sad to see their customer service decline so much. read more

I was having some medical issues with my eyes and my general practitioner referred me to an ophthalmologist. They made a mistake and didn't realize this was an optometrist. The issue was getting worse, and I couldn't rebook, as I took time off work for this issue. This was the best mistake I'd ever made. Dr. Walker and his staff were beyond amazing!! He was also teaching a student doctor with him during the exam and I was able to get a lot of information and feedback on what and why things were happening. In my issue, it was something that happens when you age and also tied into a condition I have. It was not the horrible thing I was dreading and it was handled by some eye drops. I was pretty blown away. I didn't know an optometrist can do the same thing an ophthalmologist can do except for the surgery. It was all covered under medical insurance, this was not treated as an eye exam, but a medical exam. I couldn't have asked for a better result or the amazing service this little office in a Haggan's supermarket location. They were in no-way underqualified. They deserve this highest praise I could give them all. read more

I broke my wire-rim glasses and searched for the closest optician's office. That's when I discovered Vision Plus in Haggen's in Ferndale. I called and they said no appointment was necessary. I arrived and within 15 minutes I walked out with not only repaired glasses, but they even put on new nose pads - all for free! While I waited, I tried on frames and their selection was WONDERFUL! Will definitely do business with again. read more

Staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and caring. I've used the Ferndale Vision Plus for multiple pairs of glasses as well as contacts. They put patient health and happiness above profit. I also took my toddler here for his first eye exam, and the doctor was great with him. read more

I decided to try contact lenses. They said I had to be able to remove them from my eyes properly in order to take them home. I couldn't. So they didn't let me leave with them. It was 60 dollars for the fitting and it was uncomfortable trying to do this with my back facing the haggens store, I would have appreciated some privacy, but thats how it was so I went home and was told i wouldn't be charged again if I wanted to come back and try fitting again. Fast forward, my trial lenses arrived and they told me to come pick them up, i attempted to schedule another fitting, but they said no, just come pick them up. So I did, tried them on, and was unable to remove the right one. Called them and asked for help, they said come in and proceeded to try and charge a 30 dollar fee when I arrived. I told them that this should be covered with what I already paid for fitting. When doctor came to me I said will this be a charge? He said well youre seeing me aren't you? I tried to leave and he stood in my way and stated he would not charge, and that he would attempt to remove it. Needless to say he looked and stated there was no contact in and that eye was scratched and do i want him to treat it? NOPE! I will take my business elsewhere! Bye vision plus ferndale! 10 minutes late to an exam, I called and let them know I was running late, they said I had ten minutes grace ,I got there nine minutes late and they told me to reschedule. I said know, im not coming back to this place again. That's cold!! read more

I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. Optometrists try to make it mandatory to dilate healthy kids eyes. This is not medically necessary. The lady who actually ordered my kids glasses had no idea how to process my vision insurance. They tried to overcharge me TWICE. Buyer beware....this place just wants your Almighty Dollar. They do not have sincere interest in the care of your kids eyes. This is the worst vision center I've ever been to. I wish I could cancel the glasses and just go somewhere else. read more

I was prepared for a pain the the tush experience, because the previous place we looked for glasses for my 13 yr old daughter ended up not taking our insurance and my daughter took a half hour to choose frames. I called to confirm vision plus took our insurance, and they did, and our experience remained that simple. It was busy when we walked in, but the receptionist was immediately helpful. Daughter took 5 minutes to choose nicer and cheaper frames than the last place, and insurance calls were made within moments. I'd forgotten the prescription, but was able to scan and email it to them when I got home. Assuming the glasses turn out well, I couldn't have asked for a more user friendly experience. read more

This was very disappointing trip if I could vote no stars I would. I am currently looking to buy new frames. I have been shopping around looking for a good deal. My previous glasses were from vision plus on James St in Bellingham, I loved those glasses. I recently moved to Ferndale so went into this location, plus the March deal was going on but frames get lense included. I walked into the store with my mother, although it looks like we could be two different customers. Three people working one on the phone so understandable she is busy then the other two just chatting away with no care about customer service. I look at the frames and see if there is anything interesting for about five minutes. Not one world is said to me or my mother. Not a hello, not what are you looking for, can I help you, If any questions ask. NOTHING! I get if your busy and don't want to help right away or even just tired for the day. You at least acknowledge the customer. I mean if you doing so great on your sales for day and are done great, then close the doors. I took my $300+ else where, I want to support the costumer service that is presented. read more

After 8 years of not having an eye exam, I was anticipating on supporting our local business, as opposed to driving to Costco in Bellingham. I booked an appointment an arrived on time. Staff was courtesy and helpful. I was quoted an exam price of $79.00... the Dr was helpful and polite. When I asked how long it would be for my contacts would be, he wasn't sure. After the exam, I paid for my exam and what was told to me, my contacts for an additional $100.00. I received a call the following night from one of the staff members, and she informed me it would be an additional $100.00 ($200.00 for both) for Each new contact... I asked her why was I not informed of this when they lead me to believe I had placed the order already through them. She stated, "Oh that was the fee to measure you eye for the contacts". I feel as if there has been a bait and switch. I will take my business elsewhere....back to Costco!!!! read more
