When I declined "upgrades," I thought that meant things like anti-glare or scratch-resistant coatings -- not something essential for actually seeing clearly. The staff were friendly, but clearer communication about prescriptions for first-time progressive wearers would be very helpful. I hope this feedback improves the experience for future customers. Everyone was friendly, engaging, informative, caring and helpful. The reception staff were cheerful and prompt. I felt that the technicians taking my eye measurements and pertinent information were competent and thorough, listening well as I described what I was experiencing or what I needed. Allison helped me specially on several occasions--she has to be incredibly busy, and yet I always felt her friendly attention, interest and helpfulness to be very focused on meeting my needs. My experience with Dr. Kullas was beyond... I cannot recommend Dr. Christopher Kullas more highly: I could not have found a better physician and surgeon for my cataracts. Anywhere! On the technical and operational side, rarely have I met a person so meticulous--a quality so necessary in this work when you are dealing with measurements in microns or something like that. I felt confident by the information he imparted that he truly was expert in this area. He was very forthcoming about potential complications in my situation, and he involved me in his decision to diverge from his original plan to potentially increase the likelihood of the most optimal outcome based on my needs and wants, explaining his rationale and giving me choice. His plan worked! On the personal side, I found him to be a very caring physician and one invested in good communications. I found him easy to talk to, comfortable, genuinely pleasant and highly personable. He takes his time, ensuring you get what you need from him as he considers reasonable options. He explains well and checks-in with you. I felt informed, plus I felt wholly attended to. He is responsive. I never felt pressed or rushed even when extra time was needed for checking my specifics or optimizing strategies for my case. It was made clear to me on several occasions--and not all involving me--that he is dedicated to best outcomes for patients. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I trusted him with my eyes--I would trust him with a lot more.

I went into LensCrafters and had such a great experience. Customer service was excellent, no one was being pushy about trying to upsell anything, and the selection was overall pretty good. Amber, I believe her name is, was a total sweetheart and helped me figure out the best options with my insurance and just made me feel very comfortable. When I asked her about warranties, she was very upfront about the 30-day return policy or they have a one-year scratch/damage warranty for only $45 extra. However, after seeing an ophthalmologist I was told my corrected vision was deteriorating, I was developing Strabismus, and had a central scotoma. All of which wasn't detected by them. It was completely useless or detrimental for me to see them. I also mentioned I though I had a "scotoma" he erroneous corrected me and said "it's not called scotoma; it's called glaucoma" and referred me to the wrong experts. I really feel like I was completely let down by them. I feel even though assessing someone's vision may just be a job to them. However, their incompetence or lack of care may negatively impact their client's quality of life.

He is a big proponent of blue light filter lenses for people who use computers for many hours each day and he has spoken to me many times about the importance of having children's eyes checked early in life so as to detect potential problems. He always seems at ease and comfortable as he explains various technical terms in a way that is easy to understand and retain. Jill, the optician, is friendly and personable. When I picked out my frames she took a lot of time to help me find ones that I truly liked and that flattered my bone structure. I don't think that most opticians would be so thorough and honest with their customers when it comes to picking out their frames. I didn't feel rushed through the process at all and I love the way my glasses turned out! Tina is kind and has a very calm manner about her. She is certainly a pro with all the various eye testing machines around the office. But what stands out about her is the rapport that she builds with her customers. I hadn't been in to the office in many months but she remembered details that we had talked about during my previous visits. She knows how to make a customer feel valued. When I picked up my glasses, asked again if I owed anything more - again 'no'. A month later, I'm told 'you have an outstanding balance of $128 - When I asked why, the response literally was 'I don't know, you just have a balance.' Now it turns out that the amount my insurance covered was 'less than we assumed.' None of that was ever explained throughout the process, until after I got my past due notice. Fact is, the cost is now as much as it would be for new frame and lenses anywhere else - Had I known that, I wouldn't have agreed to the transaction. Add to that the whole 'insurance paid less than we thought' thing - I've bough many a pair of glasses under the same insurance I have no - Never had an outfit pull that one on my before. When I complained, the office manager paid lip service to waiving the $128, but literally when I got home, my wife said she'd paid the bill - When I emailed that fact to the store, twice, I received zero response or acknowledgment, and still have not a few weeks later. Me burned is a lesson learned - NEVER again will I do business here, and I'll make a point of letting anyone and everyone know that when the subject comes up.

However, I recently tried to get a set of prescription lenses in my sunglass frames, and they were completely unable to get them right. I was told verbally that there was a 1-year warranty against defects (there was nothing written down). The first pair of lenses had sections where there was no polarization. The second pair had visible stress marks that made for very noticeable discolouration when you looked through different areas of the lens. The third pair is clear if you look down your nose, but completely blurry and distorted straight ahead. The owner of the shop refused to deal with me after this point, basically telling me there was nothing wrong with the glasses (implying, I suppose, that there's something wrong with me), and "I just need to let my eyes adjust to them". He refused to provide a refund of any sort. So, I'm now stuck with a pair of glasses I simply can't see clearly out of, and will have to go to another optician, paying out of pocket for a proper pair of lenses. I am beyond disappointed with both the quality of the lenses and the owner's unwillingness to make things right. EDIT: to follow up, I took my frames to another optician. They got the lenses perfect on the first try, and for a better price than LensMaster, too.
