My husband contacted HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling after normal business hours concerning our A/C…read moreunit at our personal residence was ONLY blowing warm air!! Now the previous evening, my husband contacted a large local competitor to check our HVAC system. Technician from local competitor came out and looked out HVAC system, didn't test any components and stated "our compressor was locked & leaking refrigerant and quoted my husband $6k to replace it or we can purchase a brand new HVAC system for $25k!!!" (NOT TRUE!!!). The tech even left our outside power switch unplugged so we couldn't test the system!! SMH!!! We won't contact them for any service ever again nor recommend them to any neighbors, friends and family!!! Joe K, Service Technician at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling contacted my husband within 20 minutes of him contacting the office the next business day and scheduled a visit that evening. He came out to the house, checked the compressor and quickly diagnosed the capacitor as the problem & replaced it. And Joe K. even showed my husband how he diagnosed the capacitor as the issue NOT the compressor leaking refrigerant as stated by local competitor!! No refrigerant leaking at all!! Compressor in good condition!! In addition, Joe K., checked the wiring, fan, all associated parts and cleaned our a/c unit. No issues at all!! Just some cleaning needed!!! HVAC in excellent working condition AGAIN!!! In addition, he checked our furnace, cleaned some our internal components and showed my husband some DIY things to do to maintain our HVAC system throughout the year!! Amazing work & Professionalism by Joe K!!!! I returned home from business travel to a COOL & COMFORTABLE HOUSE!!! ALL Work completed in an HOUR!!! (less time than the large local competitor spending 2 1/2 hours trying to sell my husband a new HVAC system)!! Joe K. was amazing, excellent communicator, knowledgeable and very professional!! Highly recommend HVAC Direct Heating and Cooling!! Great Pricing for Service Plans & Parts, Excellent Technicians!! You can't go wrong with Joe K. & Scott at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling!! 5 Stars*****!!!

The Electricians - Photograph of the owner, Joe Skidmore

Joe must be one of the last "good guys" because if there's a better electrician I haven't found one…read morein the 20 years that I've owned a home. Everyone know the story. You call 5 electricians, you get 5 voice mail boxes, you leave messages, you never hear back. Or you finally hear back from one and they act like they're doing you a favor by responding to you. They won't be available to come to your home for days, there are tons of fees, and you have to promise your next born child if they fix the issue. It must be nice to have a job where you have so much demand that don't return customer calls, you pick and choose your jobs, and treat customers like dirt! Here's how it went with Joe, the owner of The Electricians. It was winter and about 45 degrees. Our furnace stopped working. I called Joe around 5pm and he answered on the second ring. I told him about the problem. While on the phone he had me walk down to the furnace and he literally walked me through troubleshooting steps to see if it was a minor issue that he could help me fix over the phone. When we couldn't fix it he asked me if we would be okay overnight and he could come to our house the next morning. He said that he could come over immediately but it would cost extra and he'd rather not charge me extra if we were okay. I told him with blankets and the heat already captured in the home we would be fine until the next morning. In that explanation alone there are 3 ways that Joe proactively saved us money and didn't look for ways to gouge us. The next morning, Joe arrived at the time he committed to...he was actually early and waiting outside so he would be on time and ready to start. Joe was VERY personable. Just a really nice guy. He went to the basement, looked at the furnace, and determined the issue pretty quickly...a part went bad in the furnace. He started making calls to get a new part but had no luck because it was an older part. Once again, he thought about the customer. He gave me the make, model, year, and serial number of the part. He told me to do a Google search and to check on eBay for the part. In the meantime, he was going to check his sources. He left and didn't charge me anything. He said he would charge me when he came back to repair the furnace. I started looking for the part online and found it. I called him and he told me that the part was a really good price and to go ahead and order it. Again, he didn't find the part on his own and then mark it up and charge me for parts. He told me that when the part came in the call him and he would stop by and install it. The part took a few days to ship(luckily the weather warmed up). When I got it I called Joe and he came the next day right on time. Joe took the part from me, went in the basement, installed it in about 30-45min, tested everything, and it was all working. He charged me $50 to install it and $70 for his time over the two visits. When I made the first call I thought I would be paying $300, $400, $500 for the visit, the part, and the repair. Since then, I've had AC problems. Twice Joe came to our house, looked things over, fixed a few issues, and charged me a VERY reasonable price. BTW, Joe is also a really nice guy. He's fun to talk to and has a fantastic attitude. I don't like having HVAC issues but now I don't dread having to call an electrician. I can't stress enough how fantastic of a job Joe does. He's honest, he's fair, he answers the phone and responds to texts, he's on time, and he's an all around nice guy. If I could give him 6 stars I would. I highly recommend Joe if you have an HVAC problem!!

I am a dentist and entrepreneur practicing in Silver Spring, MD. Throughout my 10+ business…read moreendeavors I have worked with many different contractors and HVAC companies. Doing so I realized how difficult it would be for a lot of people to choose a good HVAC company that is honest and knowledgeable in their field, while professional in a first class manner. Our cooling system went kaput during the heat wave of 2012. We contacted dozens of companies and received bids from at least six major HVAC companies - we looked not only local but nationwide. Fresh Air Concepts gave one of the best bids and we decided to do a contract with them. After signing a contract I was so impressed with their professionalism and how they worked and operated in the building. Because of this I decided to write a review and give them credit, and to help people find a honest HVAC company Fresh Air Concepts worked in a 30,000 sq ft building for two months but we hardly noticed when they were working, even when they stayed crazy hours from 4:30am to late evening. There are always available to help issues that were non-related. The owner, Joe, was always available to answer my questions and respond to issues. Any calls hardly ever went to voicemail and someone usually picks up the phone - I would say 6 out of 7 times I called someone picked up. Their business operation is impressive with their professional fleet with standardized logos on work vehicles and their crew, from engineers to installers, wearing standardized and recognizable uniforms.

It took a 15 days to get the parts, but that was not a problem. I called to schedule maintenance, but after scheduling the appointment, I realized my upstairs unit wasn't working. In fact, instead of cooling, my bedroom was getting hotter. He came through as scheduled, conducted diagnostic tests on both of my units, and unfortunately gave me the bad news. He presented some options, and both were costly, but what can you do? The invoice broke down everything he had presented. We decided on a way ahead and scheduled the fix for the coming days. On the day of service, he arrived early and got to work. It took him a little over 4 hours and he explained what he was doing along the way. I'm back in service! Today is expected to be a 90-degree day, it's right on time. I already feel the difference and am looking forward to a reduced electric bill (based on some of his explanations). I'll continue to use his services going forward.

To my surprise, he promptly arrived at my residence to inform me of the issue and provide a solution. Due to unforeseen personal obligations, I was unable to be home during the repair process. However, Mr. Michael kindly provided me with a time frame for his arrival and promptly notified me via text message upon completion of the repairs. Upon returning home, I observed that all systems were functioning optimally. The sole minor inconvenience was an oversight on my part regarding the timely submission of payment. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Mr. Michael to anyone seeking professional assistance. I intend to utilize his services for future repairs. I pray and hope this service will saved me some money for 2026
