He sat us, took our order, disappeared into the kitchen to participate in its preparation and served our four courses to us in traditional style - separately as ready. The food was excellent. We chose from both the lunch and regular menu, which were integrated seamlessly. Fried Pork Chop, Crispy Fried Intestine, Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce from the mains, and Orange Beef from the lunch list. I started with Hot &Sour Soup, which was flavorful and loaded with tofu, sprouts, pork slivers and potent vinegar. Loved it! The Pork Chop was deboned and pressed thin. The result was a crisp sliced Katsu-like cutlet with nice flavor and long crunchy chew. The Intestine was also crisp and filled with green beans that mixed well with the hardened shell and soft innards. Not my fave, but my lovely partner ate it enthusiastically. I don't know when this specific dish is amazing, but I can tell you when it's bad. Green Lake's version is anything but bad. Shrimp Stuffed Tofu: We were given a sample since they were trying something new. The sauce is similar to the tofu hotpot but has a porkier feel because of the ground pork within the dish. The tofu is the same, but the way they fried it is different, so it took a step up. The shrimp was fine, and I think they should have this on their menu. Whole Fried Chicken: It's fine. Didn't love it. There's no batter to speak of at all, and you're reliant on the spicy sauce and ginger sauce provided. Stir Fried French Beans w/ Salted Fish: Crunchy French Beans, and very salty salted fish. Not my favorite, but it keeps things different. Hot prawn salad with broccoli: The broccoli was just boiled. Nothing to talk about. The pawn was fried and bathed in mayonnaise. What's not to like? Pork Chop: This is another Chinese restaurant staple. 85% of the chinese porkchops that you eat will taste the same. This one is no different. Hokkien Fried Rice: My chinese restaurant guilty pleasure. How else can you get a shrimp fried rice bathed in an umami sauce? The one off experience was with the paper plates and plastic cutleries you get from the common area (shared for all restaurants). The paper plate could hardly handle the heat of the food that it started sticking to the table and peeling off when we checked its bottom - speak of quality compromise. The parking can be challenging and can get tight during weekends as it's shared.
