We had an unfortunate experience with Cory, a contractor whose actions fell far below professional and ethical standards. Throughout the project, Cory's involvement was minimal. He only showed up at the house to collect payment, spending less than five minutes before leaving again. The majority of the work was completed by subcontractors, and Cory seldomly and irregularly virified the quality of their work or followed up to check on their progress. We had given clear instructions to Cory: demolition should not begin until all materials were delivered and ready for installation. Unfortunately, this was not followed, and we were left without a kitchen for an extended period--three months, in fact. Our kitchen is quite small, this extended delay of three months was an unreasonable amount of time, causing major disruptions to our daily lives The project started when my husband hired Cory to repair water damage in the kitchen after a leak beneath the sink caused damage to part of the floor. Cory suggested gutting the entire kitchen, even though it had been completely remodeled just a year earlier by my then-boyfriend and with Cory's previous work. At the time, we had filed an insurance claim for the damage, but the process was moving slowly. Despite this, we trusted Cory's expertise and proceeded with his recommendation, believing it was necessary and that the insurance would cover the costs. However, after spending $40,000, we found out the insurance did not cover the repairs. Upon speaking with several of the subcontractors Cory had hired, we learned that only partial repairs were needed, and there was no justification for gutting the entire kitchen. This was confirmed when we found out why the insurance declined the claim. In hindsight, we recognize that we should have been more diligent in verifying Cory's recommendations, and we deeply regret not seeking a second opinion. Additionally, the project experienced constant delays, and I eventually had to personally reach out to the subcontractors to push things along. They regularly showed up late or failed to show up entirely. When I confronted Cory about the delays, he falsely claimed that the project was ahead of schedule and that he had not provided us with specific dates or timelines. To make matters worse, in our final communication, Cory instructed me not to contact him further and informed me that he would only be dealing with my husband from that point forward. I hope this account serves as a warning to anyone considering working with Cory and his company. We strongly recommend proceeding with caution and exploring other options for your construction needs. read more

These guys are good. I needed to have my garage insulated and drywalled. I've worked with many contractors over the years, and what I value most is good communication, being on time, doing exactly what they committed to, and high quality results. Cory worked closely with me to define the work I wanted done, such as the thickness of the insulation and the type of drywall. Within a week he provided a quote for the job. I had already worked out what I thought the job should cost based on materials and labor. His price seemed quite reasonable to me. I accepted his quote, and the crew showed up about a week later to start work. Cory was on site to make sure the crew knew exactly what work had to be done. There were four men on the crew, and the work took 2 days to complete. Cory went over the work with me to make sure I was satisfied. They did a good job and it was nice that they could get it done quickly. I am very satisfied with the final result. read more

They came by everyday during the job and discussed what the schedule was, generally stayed on top of things. They kept things moving along. We had some water damage in our ceiling (the wind had backed up water from our awning). Called Linear Star, the contractor came out the next day, gave us a very reasonable price. Two days later a crew of four men came to the house and started the work. The job took three days from start to finish. Corey (the owner) was on the job every day to assure me that all was going correctly. He took the time to answer all of my questions and put me at ease. We hired Linear Star to remodel our Master Bathroom at the end of February 2021. This was our first major home remodel so we had many questions but Cory was incredibly helpful, informative, and easy to work with through the whole project. The design process was easy and Dean was able to capture exactly what I was envisioning! We had some snags along the way due to materials and subcontractor availability but Cory was quick to solve any issue we had. Communication was great, I always felt I knew exactly where our project was and what was going to happen next. We had to make a few last minute adjustments due to unforeseen issues but Cory offered great suggestions and always resolved our concerns. I had a few of my own design changes that I wanted to make and Cory was very accommodating and worked with us on even the smallest details. Although the project took a bit longer than we originally anticipated (not on Cory's end), I'm in love with how our project turned out and I'm so glad he took on this project! I first met Corey and his team back in March to discuss my stairs repair project and it has been over 5 months, and he couldn't deliver a detailed quote for the project, and the proposal was delayed by months. I ended up spending $1500 just to get a few architectural drawings from his team because he promised in the very beginning that it was a very straightforward job and everything could've finished in the summer, and nothing needs to be worried. I would've never spent that much if I knew he couldn't deliver a detailed proposal. Very unfortunate and not transparent at all! I called and messaged multiple times in the past few months and got no returns. I don't think they are capable of handling this project or just due to lack of resources but wouldn't tell me the truth in the beginning. I have to find another contractor to work my insurance company to start the project. read more

As if 2020 couldn't get any worse, a dust devil mini tornado, decides to make an appearance. Within minutes, it blew off and destroyed parts of our neighbor's roof and the flying debris decide to smash into our window with a super loud bang! Went upstairs and found our double paned window smashed into hundreds of pieces all over the window sill and carpet! Went ahead and Yelp-solicited 4 contractors and Linear Star Construction (LSC) was the only one who called me right away and offered to come out to quote the damage. Cory, the manager, priced out the job and within a few weeks, got our window replaced, stucco damage fixed, and everything painted and repaired in 3 days. Cory was professional and stopped by every day during the repairs and called me with end of day update of what to expect the next day. All of his workers/subcontractors did a seamless job on all of the repairs. Thanks to Cory for answering my request otherwise who knows how long it would take to have our broken window fixed during Covid time.
