This is a new(ish) fabric and notions (+yarn / knitting/crochet) supply shop that opened in August…read moreof 2025! I've driven past this shop for months now and it's been discussed at my knitting club so after finally having a new project on hands + reason to visit; I decided to drop on by! StitchStop conveniently has a small parking lot available around back on Moorpark so you won't have to wander the neighboring streets for parking. The pricing of their notions (zippers/thread/needles/hooks) overall is competitive and better than the (sadly) recently vacated nearby Joann's Fabrics also in Sherman Oaks. That said; their selection is limited, likely as the shop is still new and finding its footing + small store room. For example; I specifically dropped in for both circular knitting needles in a size I wanted a longer cm length in for the cardigan project I'm on + a brown zipper. While they had 2 lengths of circular needles for all sizes available; both weren't long so I couldn't pick up what I needed here. However, they had a ton of zippers in different sizes and colors! Yarns here include both acrylics and naturals (both 1 color and dyed). Fabrics are predominantly cotton in fun prints or fleece blanket type fabric, absolutely no spandex spotted, limited chiffon. There are some nicely priced vintage patterns available.

They had a great variety of stuff and I could see myself ding some good fabric for my next project…read morethere. They also have all the extras you need. Now that Joann Fabrics is gone I will be pleased to head the this place. Also the people who work there (or perhaps it was the owner?) were so friendly. Good vibes

Such a cute sewing and fabric store! The employees were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It was…read morehonestly addicting looking through all the fabrics, and it was so hard not to want to buy everything. They even had some fabrics that were sold out online, which was such a fun surprise! They do still require masks, but they have free masks inside made from their own fabrics, which I thought was adorable. My mom has been getting into embroidery and learning how to sew, and she loved the community feel here. She's already sad we don't have something like this back home in Vegas Definitely worth visiting if you love fabric, sewing, embroidery, or just cute creative spaces!

Alright, Sewing Arts is my fabric store - my go-to, my happy place, my "I swear I'm only getting…read moreone thing" (lies!) spot. I could not be more thankful that this gem exists AND that it's conveniently close to my main work location. I've quilted on and off since 2008, but when I moved to LA in 2016, my sewing machine and fabric took very, very long naps. When my boss announced she was pregnant, I knew I wanted to make her a baby quilt. After hours of Googling fabrics, I walked into Sewing Arts thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. HA. Jokes on me. In fact, jokes on me every single time I walk in thinking I know what I want. Contrary to some of these other reviews, the ladies at Sewing Arts are some of the kindest, most patient humans I've ever met. Even when I'm standing there overwhelmed by *gestures broadly* literally everything, they're endlessly helpful. Sewing Arts was my introduction to Ruby Star Society, which has since become my absolute favorite modern fabric line. I swear they carry every bolt from every collection (until it sells out). The selection is remarkable! There's also a bountiful selection of patterns, notions, materials (quilting cottons, linen, rayon), cross point kits, etc. etc. And the best part? The community. On my very first visit, Kathleen asked if I knew about the local quilt guild. I didn't at the time but now the Los Angeles Modern Quilt Guild (LAMQG) is what I lovingly call "quilt club," and I look forward to every monthly meeting (held at Sewing Arts!). The guild nights even come with a lovely member discount on fabric... dangerous for my wallet but wonderful for my soul. The only downside for me has been their long-arming service, which I've tried twice with less-than-great results, especially for the price, so I won't be going for a third try. Also, masks are still required, which you'll see mentioned in many reviews but the owners stand firm on the policy and even provide free masks at the door. There are a plethora of classes also available here (garments, quilting, etc.) so whether you are a beginner sewist, an expert, or somewhere in between - there's likely a class for you! All that to say, Sewing Arts has truly given me both inspiration and community. Five stars forever!!!
