Yes it's pricey but worth it for tourists like me. Definitely check it out if you're in the area. The staff is friendly and will happily answer any questions and point out their suggestions.

The chocolate is still made by the same family that has owned the shop for generations. This chocolate shop has drawers of chocolates to sift through. This used to be a button shop for the royalty. The drawers were full of buttons that the royalty could pick from to be on their clothes. Now the drawers are filled with buttons of delicious chocolates. The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant. Besides, who could be sour in a chocolate shop. It was some of the best chocolate we have ever had. We are keeping the hot chocolate mix for our trip to Tahoe later this year. It will be a way we can relive our amazing trip. I wanted to say thank you to the staff for being so friendly and helpful in selecting our chocolate. I gave it one Euro sign, but you could easily get carried away in here. We spent over $40 of chocolate because we knew we weren't going to be back anytime soon.

It is not only a retail chocolate shop but is also a full manufacturing facility as all the equipment is behind the counter in a small factory setting. What really matters however is the taste and the taste is wonderful. We bought and sampled filled milk and dark chocolates as well as some truffles. All were delicious. We even bought some to munch on during our train ride to Prague. Friendly service also as we had trouble deciding but the girl behind the counter was patient and gave us some good suggestions.

I decided to surprise her on my way back from Austria Post and got her a box of one of each. One disappointing thing: if you buy the truffles in a bag and get at least 100g, the price is 6.50 euros, but they put the truffles in a bag. This is fine if you are buying 12 pieces or less. I bought 64 and you cannot put those in a few bags especially when you are bringing them back overseas. If you get approximately 8 truffles per 100g, then 64 truffles should cost about 52 euros. I bought a box of 64 and it cost an additional 20 euros for the box, although the presentation was very nice. I would absolutely recommend this wonderful chocolate shop and I am going to Switzerland in a week.

Even if you think you don't know the brand, you might recognize Manner wafers when you see them. Their classic Neapolitan wafers were introduced in 1898 and are hazelnut-cream filled wafers. Josef Manner opened his first stop next to St. Stephen's Cathedral. I'm not sure if the current shop is located in the same place as the original shop, but it's certainly close by (just across from the cathedral). The shop is tiny, but it's well stocked - full of the classic Manner wafers but also additional flavors and a million other items related to Manner. Given the company's history, Manner wafers make a perfect souvenir from a trip to Vienna. Stop by and take some home - whether you love them already or not.

Yelp Review 2023 #268:…read more Every time I or anybody in the family go to a Duty Free shop in Europe, a big box of Manner has to be brought home. Crunchy wafers with chocolate and hazelnut cream in between. Located across from St. Stephen's Cathedral, I had to come visit this shop. You can get Manner in different flavors and shapes, and packaging: giant box, small bag. They have chocolate-covered Manner. So many options I didn't know exist. My mind was definitely blown. Keep in mind, these wafers have a rather short shelf life. Be sure to eat them within 6 months after purchasing them or they'll be expired. I've actually eaten expired Manner before and it was rancid! They also have Mozartkugeln (chocolate ball with marzipan and pistachio in the middle), individually wrapped chocolates and pralines. For serious Manner lovers, you can get liqueur, a t-shirt, a bag, and a hoodie, teddy bear, flash drive, snow globe, and all kinds of little accessories.
