I think Veganista is overrated. The ice cream is way overpriced and not that good. The matcha flavor didn't taste like matcha at all. It in fact had no flavor at all. The pistachio was better but still very underwhelming. There are better ice cream places in Vienna. read more

Can't say I've had a lot of experience with vegan gelato before but I do appreciate good gelato in general. This place was quite a surprise as I was not sure what to expect from vegan gelato (seemed a bit of an oxymoron to me at first). That said, the flavors I tried were delicious, and the texture was light and pleasant. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

They serve vegan ice cream here, and it was actually really yummy! My friends showed me to this place while we were walking around during Pride. The lavender flavor was my favorite, you could really smell the strong scent of lavender in all of it, and it tasted like it had really good quality ingredients. read more

Why you should go to veganista and why I am giving 5 stars despite the taste and price: Veganista uses high quality ingredients AND less sugar! That's why after eating the ice cream you feel less guilty and heavy. So If you've been avoiding calories by eating frozen yogurt. This is your spot. It's clean, it's tasty and enjoyable light. My favorite flavors: dolce vita 100%! and Black Forest It's miles better than Eis greissler. Why the ratings might be lower: It's expensive with 2.40€ for a scoop and if you are looking for really creamy ice cream, you don't care about how it makes you feel or how sugary/unhealthy it is - you might want to skip that and go to tichy or other spots. read more

Loved this vegan dessert option. I'm lactose intolerant but ice cream is something I'll always eat anyways. But if I had this at home I would never eat regular ice cream again! Great selection of flavors. The ice cream has a bit of a different texture then regular ice cream but that would be expected. I ordered salted caramel and pistachio. Both flavors were very tasty. Great stop for anyone whether you're vegan or not. read more

Promises, Promises. You see a place that promises vegan ice cream in magnificent yummy flavors. The place is cute, the servers are cuter, and the customers filling the store are the cutest of all. How can you go wrong? Well - except for the fact the vegan ice cream doesn't taste like very much, the place is great. We had very attractive vegan ice cream cones that photographed beautifully, and had great flavor names. Now, I have been to more than my fair share of soy ice cream palaces where the ice cream is divine - so being dairy free does not mean you have to be tasteless. But here, take a selfie of yourself with the cone - and then try to pretend you are as young and artistic as the rest of the clientele. This will keep you from wondering where the flavor went. read more

Very tasty and high quality ice cream. They have 18 ice cream flavors a day, some of these made with rice, soy milk and also ice cream suitable for diabetes. Unfortunately the special kinds (which are most of them...) costs 30 cents more, therefore I had to reduce one star... For one scoop of regular flavors 1,6€ and 1,9€ for special flavors. Luckily they do fill the cup quite full so it's not that bad... Veganista also, like many other ice cream shops, have a point card system. Eat 10 times and the 11th time is free! The ladies working there are very friendly and will assist you in finding your favorite flavor. You can also ask to taste any flavor before choosing which one to buy. I had dark chocolate and I loved it very much. The chocolate was very rich and just the right amount of sweetness. You can also buy 1/2 litter or 1 litter box to take home. read more

Oh my god. Throw out your ideas that dairy free ice-cream can't taste good -- cause it can. Veganista provides ice-cream made out of soy milk, coconut milk, and rice milk. They have unique flavors like Orange-Saffron, and original flavors like Chocolate Brownie. My husband got a LARGE ice-cream cone with three scoops: Banana, Strawberry and Hazelnut. All three tasted delicious and we were both blown away by how large the scoops/portion sizes are. I ordered the oatmeal-cinnamon (unique but delicious!) and brownie (so good!). I am looking forward to going back next weekend to try out some other flavors :) read more

Finally, a warm spring day in Vienna! I thought to celebrate such a rarity this year, I would check out the new vegan ice cream salon in Neubau. That was def a good idea but I have to admit several other people had the very same idea as the small establishment was really crowded. Vegan ice cream is usually made from coconut milk and though it's not quite as rich as using cream, it can still be tasty in its own way. I had the poppy seed (Mohn) flavor and a friend had the Basilikum (Basil) flavor. Both were good but mine was better. Service was big-smile friendly - the two sisters who own this place were working behind the counter. There is only one bench to sit on outside and it was filled .....but just west on the Neustiftgasse at Kirchengasse are several places to sit and enjoy your vegan treat on a warm day. One note of caution: If you have to take a drug test for any reason, don't order the Mohn (Poppy seed) flavor. You would prob def fail the test. Whether you are a vegan or not, give this new Eissalon a try. read more

This ice cream factory is all I've been dreaming about... Entering in a bright little shop, you'll be greeted by friendly people (always very nice!), and then you will have to order... For the first time in years I had the choice between other flavors than just sorbets! Hazelnut, Oreo, Raspberry, Matcha Green Tea & Soy Milk, Lemmon, Poppy seeds, Pistachio, and so many more... If you love ice cream, then this is a place for you. If you're vegan, then this is a must visit. I'm not vegan, so I'm used to creamy ice creams. Veganista's ice cream met all of my needs for a delicious treat- yummy, creative flavors and smooth, creamy bases. The staff were so friendly and happily explained the different flavors and which milk alternatives were used in the bases. read more

Totally overrated! The ice cream tastes terrible. Blueberry-lavender tasted like a moth ball. Black Forrest tasted like coconut. Rosemary tasted like potatoes should come on the side. Nectarine was ok but also not great. And although we were the only patrons in the shop when we were there, the girl behind the counter seemed super annoyed that we were asking questions about the different flavors. The second girl at the cash register was nicer. I will not go there again. read more

GO. SO SO SO yummy. It is some of the best ice cream (vegan or not) I have had hands down. I had it twice while I was in Vienna for a long weekend. The lavender flavor is to die for. So pure in flavor and a refreshing experience for your tastebuds. 10 out of 10 would recommend. The store is also so cute! read more

It seems there is either love or hate for this place, and not much in between, with love definitely prevailing. As a non-vegan eater-of-all-things-good (and a few bad), I wouldn't have anything against ice cream being vegan - only if that somehow contributed to its taste. But although I didn't want to disappoint a (non-vegan) friend who brought me there and absolutely loved it too, I must admit secretly here in public, that I couldn't fully share the delight. As a dedicated non-drinker of soy milk, I went for the flavours made with other sorts of vegan "milk" (and was grateful for the possibility of choice). Dark chocolate is my usual low-risk option, but here I was badly missing at least a bit of creaminess that only a cow can provide - sorry. My other scoop was poppyseed - it worked much better in its vegan version than choc - but that one was not fully my taste - it was a selection mistake. I tasted a bit of basil too.. hmm interesting but gets too sweet after a few bites - whether the sweetener is some better alternative to refined sugar or not. In fact, those alternatives can be so intense that I would decrease their amount to "found in traces". I figured that the taste generally worked much better with sorbet kind of fruit-based ice cream.. but I suppose I didn't discover America by saying that. I am sure there are flavours which could impress me more, on a different day. They are quite strong in design here. In addition to puristic, minimalist enterior, I couldn't not notice that the ice cream cup is made of cardboard of such texture that you want to keep holding it forever - one fine detail, hope vegans are also such paper lovers as I am. What generally puts me off is a certain statement behind the marketing of such shops that ice cream can only be redefined and made creative and healthy nowadays if you kick out the cow of the equation. By introducing the idea of innovative flavours and "healthy" ingredients (which can also be seriously industrially processed and are disputable at times), it should obviously appeal to everyone as a better option, and extend the target group beyond strictly vegan. However, even though I never drink a glass of pure milk as such, and have a few picky moments myself, I am not a fan of trends, and even less ideologies in food. For that reason, and because I am not vegan, as far as I'm concerned, Veganista can keep targeting the group that its name implies, and I'll happily stick to a few other cool addresses in town, which offer all variety - amazing, creative flavours, with or without the cow included, mainly depending on whether it fits the taste or not. read more

Wow, best ice cream ever that happens to be vegan. Coming from LA I'm used to very good plant-based ice cream. The ice cream that I tried in Veganista, however, was simply outstanding and it went to the top spot of my list because it is not as sweet as the sugary (regardless of whether it is coconut, beet or brown sugar, or agave) loaded vegan ice cream that is available in the U.S. The flavors were also very original. read more

Absolutely scrumptious. We visited the vegan ice cream parlor and were thrilled with the delicious vegan ice cream. I had a three scoop cone of peanut butter, coconut, and hazelnut ice cream. It was creamy and amazing and best of all, vegan. My spouse had brownie, raspberry, and coconut. We could tell it was made with high quality ingredients. This place is not to be missed if you are a vegan and love ice cream. In addition, they have a great shopping bag you can buy that says "I am a veganista." read more

Really good vegan ice cream! I had the basil and the Rosemary/pine nut and both were delicious. The girl who helped us was so sweet and gave us recommendations for our stay in Vienna. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they didn't have any tables to enjoy the dessert (a few chairs by the wall, but that's it). I understand, it's a tiny place. But having that option would improve the overall experience. Other than that, great! read more

A recently-converted vegan, I was terrified at the thought of never being able to find a perfectly creamy, dairy-free ice cream (especially while traveling), but leave it to Vienna to come through on the vegan options. There are so many unique flavors to choose from, with multiple dairy-alternatives (soy, coconut milk, almond milk) and all the flavors I tried did not disappoint :) Even my non-vegan friend said it was one of the best ice creams he'd had. I really, really, really love ice cream and I was so excited to find this delightful place during a 6 week stay in Vienna. Our apartment was right up the street from Veganista and I'm not ashamed to admit that we went every day, sometimes twice a day, to get their delicious ice cream. I'm not vegan and I'm quite picky about ice cream but I found their almond-coconut ice cream to truly be the best ice cream that I have ever had. I also found the owner (one of two sisters who owns it) to be delightful as well as all of the people who work at the shop. Really, this was a very special find! read more

There are now a few Veganistas around Vienna and fortunately one of them is on one of the main shopping street near me. Though I have a couple of wonderful ice cream parlors nearer to me which I love, sometimes I walk a little bit further to eat some Veganista Eis. The ice cream is delicious ... and creative. The other night I walked there to try out one of their famous flavors - Blueberry Lavender. The Eis was totally fruity & flavourful....two thumbs up!! Last year at Veganista, I heard the mother of a family who was there for the first time ask her husband if he thought the kids would be okay with vegan ice cream. He replied, "I can guarantee you they will like this ice cream." I watched the kids eagerly lick their ice cream cones. He was right!
