Was so excited to see this store opened on a Sunday. My daughter loves Manner so had to go find some treats to bring home. Not only cookies and candies but cute souvenirs with the Manner logo. You can see people carrying Manner bags all over Stephanplatz! Small store but filled with a lot. Be patient.

I was probably the only person in Wien who didn't know "Manner". When I saw so many people in the Mannershop at Stephanplatz I entered aswell... People from different nationalities were buying big quantities of Manner waffles and also other goods in the shop - like the chocolates with Mozart. Triggered by the "Manner mania" I decided to try very small, by buying 3 flavors of waffles : hazelnut, chocolate and lemon. As Belgian I can compare the Manner waffles best with Cent waffles but with many more choice of flavors. As Manner has so many fans they also sell shirts, mugs, umbrella's and other goodies. Afterwards I have also bought a retro box in a typical Manner pink color - nice souvenir :-) Premium location, good marketing and good waffles !

    Fun lil stick!

These chocolatey/hazelnutty delicious little wafer beauties originated in Vienna back in the late 1800's and they still got it! Light, crispy, and a perfect little treat anytime I saw the sign in the square outside of st Stephan's church and I knew we'd have to make a stop. Once inside this semi small shop I was in a wafer cornucopia. My eyes reeling back and forth from pink package to pink package, I wanted it all. Because of baggage weight restrictions I knew my options were pretty limited so I grabbed some old classics and a few things I never tried before and we hurried out so that we didn't break the bank or our own waistlines. If you're in the area stop by you will be in for a real treat.

Don't miss this delightful wafer shop which serves up a biscuit/cookie/wafer that has been around since the 1880s.

The chocolate is still made by the same family that has owned the shop for generations. This chocolate shop has drawers of chocolates to sift through. This used to be a button shop for the royalty. The drawers were full of buttons that the royalty could pick from to be on their clothes. Now the drawers are filled with buttons of delicious chocolates. The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant. Besides, who could be sour in a chocolate shop. It was some of the best chocolate we have ever had. We are keeping the hot chocolate mix for our trip to Tahoe later this year. It will be a way we can relive our amazing trip. I wanted to say thank you to the staff for being so friendly and helpful in selecting our chocolate. I gave it one Euro sign, but you could easily get carried away in here. We spent over $40 of chocolate because we knew we weren't going to be back anytime soon.

We were directed to go upstairs and found an open seat in no time at all. Just passing by all the display cases filled with desserts and pastries triggered the cravings. We did a quick menu perusal but really knew that we wanted to try the kaiserschmarrn which was a traditional Austrian dessert made up torn up pancakes, served with a plum compote and dusted with powdered sugar. It was light, had a nice caramelized flavor from browning in the pan and little pops of more sweetness from the raisins. It was so delicious that we came back the next day for more but shortcut the line and got it to go from the takeaway window. Same kaiserschmarrn but around 3 Euros cheaper for a larger serving. After eating we wanted around the restaurant and towards the back you can see just how the cooks juggled making many pans of Kaiserschmarrn at the same time. Yes it's a bit pricey but so tasty to try at least once.
