My friend and I did a little shopping at the Manner Shop in Innere Stadt, while we were exploring Vienna for a few days earlier this month. Even if you think you don't know the brand, you might recognize Manner wafers when you see them. Their classic Neapolitan wafers were introduced in 1898 and are hazelnut-cream filled wafers. Josef Manner opened his first stop next to St. Stephen's Cathedral. I'm not sure if the current shop is located in the same place as the original shop, but it's certainly close by (just across from the cathedral). The shop is tiny, but it's well stocked - full of the classic Manner wafers but also additional flavors and a million other items related to Manner. Given the company's history, Manner wafers make a perfect souvenir from a trip to Vienna. Stop by and take some home - whether you love them already or not. read more

Yelp Review 2023 #268: Every time I or anybody in the family go to a Duty Free shop in Europe, a big box of Manner has to be brought home. Crunchy wafers with chocolate and hazelnut cream in between. Located across from St. Stephen's Cathedral, I had to come visit this shop. You can get Manner in different flavors and shapes, and packaging: giant box, small bag. They have chocolate-covered Manner. So many options I didn't know exist. My mind was definitely blown. Keep in mind, these wafers have a rather short shelf life. Be sure to eat them within 6 months after purchasing them or they'll be expired. I've actually eaten expired Manner before and it was rancid! They also have Mozartkugeln (chocolate ball with marzipan and pistachio in the middle), individually wrapped chocolates and pralines. For serious Manner lovers, you can get liqueur, a t-shirt, a bag, and a hoodie, teddy bear, flash drive, snow globe, and all kinds of little accessories. read more

A must stop if you're in Vienna. You have to get the Viennese Manner waffer brand. It's offered throughout Austria but this is the flagship store with a one stop shop of all the flavors and sizes from mini to giant. Some items are pricey but some are only offered here. I actually purchased the original flavor standard size pack of 4 at a local grocery store and it was cheaper. But if you want the different flavors and giant size, get it here. They also sell Mozart chocolate balls. read more

Was so excited to see this store opened on a Sunday. My daughter loves Manner so had to go find some treats to bring home. Not only cookies and candies but cute souvenirs with the Manner logo. You can see people carrying Manner bags all over Stephanplatz! Small store but filled with a lot. Be patient. read more

Don't miss this delightful wafer shop which serves up a biscuit/cookie/wafer that has been around since the 1880s. As a bit of trivia - you'll note that the classic Manner packages feature the Stephansdom on their packaging. This means that they also sponsor a worker on the restoration team. He wears a pink Manner vest to distinguish himself. read more

I was probably the only person in Wien who didn't know "Manner". When I saw so many people in the Mannershop at Stephanplatz I entered aswell... People from different nationalities were buying big quantities of Manner waffles and also other goods in the shop - like the chocolates with Mozart. Triggered by the "Manner mania" I decided to try very small, by buying 3 flavors of waffles : hazelnut, chocolate and lemon. As Belgian I can compare the Manner waffles best with Cent waffles but with many more choice of flavors. As Manner has so many fans they also sell shirts, mugs, umbrella's and other goodies. Afterwards I have also bought a retro box in a typical Manner pink color - nice souvenir :-) Premium location, good marketing and good waffles ! read more

These chocolatey/hazelnutty delicious little wafer beauties originated in Vienna back in the late 1800's and they still got it! Light, crispy, and a perfect little treat anytime I saw the sign in the square outside of st Stephan's church and I knew we'd have to make a stop. Once inside this semi small shop I was in a wafer cornucopia. My eyes reeling back and forth from pink package to pink package, I wanted it all. Because of baggage weight restrictions I knew my options were pretty limited so I grabbed some old classics and a few things I never tried before and we hurried out so that we didn't break the bank or our own waistlines. Flippin' obsessed with all manner of Manners (geddit?)! These wafers are light, but also not dry...I dunno, man, I just am REALLY into them. Their classic is a chocolate-hazelnut (think: Nutella) filled wafer, but they also have straight-up hazelnut, vanilla, "milk" and lemon. I DO NOT DISLIKE ANY OF THEM. They come in snacker-friendly packs of 4, and they various tricked-out versions with commemorative tins and other more "touristy"/keepsake versions. Manner wafers are sold around Vienna, but this is where to go for the most complete selection of the various sizes and flavour combos. Yelp note: no, but actually: the local supermarkets have better prices on the standard wafer bar (though not the selection). Just a heads-up if you are looking to economically bulk-buy a brick of wafers to bring home. read more

Oooh the land of chocolate... This little shop is a must see for anyone who is a fan of Vienna waffers or chocolate in general. The Mozart chocolates, which seemed to be available everywhere, including the palace, were delectable. Pretty decent prices, buy a good amount for friends as gifts, they'll appreciate it. read more

Followed the crowds into this chocolate shop. Very cute with a variety of chocolate wafers and Mozart balls. The wafers were nicely crispy but the chocolate filling was too sweet for my taste, and also not very smooth. But it was a nice stop in Swedenplatz if you are passing by. read more

This is a nice cute Manner chocolate store, in the corner. They also sell their Manner family brand such as Casali and Napoli. It would be a good place to buy reasonably priced chocolates for your friends. Most of which are chocolate wafers, by the way is pretty good. They don't skim on the chocolates. If you're fan of Manner, they sell shirts, mugs. It's a cute light pink store that you should visit. The location is very close to the St.Stephansplatz church. read more

My advice: Go to Wilhelminenstraße instead (in Hernals, 17th district). Prices are certainly lower in Hernals compared to the shop at Stephansplatz ;) read more

I'm definitly a Manner Fan. I have loved it from the first time we went to Vienna 10 years ago and buy it whenever I see it outside of Austria, which isn't that often, I think they may have strict export laws about Manner as it so pervasive here, but you rarely see it anywhere else in Europe. It's really a national treasure! If you don't like Hazelnut the lemon ones are great, they are always a hit with family in the US. read more

Manner is almost a source of national pride which is great. I take truckloads home for presents and people love it (although it is harder to transport the big packets as they are easily crushed). The flagship store is good fun. Manner is one of those businesses that is still doing superbly in the current economic environment. Fun, friendly, complete sugar and flour fix, enjoy and watch the waistlines! PS It's probably cheaper to buy it in supermarkets but you also get more variety in the Manner flagship store so go figure. read more
