Was there for jury duty (again). The building itself looks new and clean, did not have to wait too long to get through security (I got there about 7:20 am, before they opened the door). There was a lot of hurry up and wait - so bring reading materials, tablets, etc. There are also drinking fountains if you need to refill your water bottle and a cafe where you can get coffee and snacks (but I brought my own). In other words, bring whatever, within reasons, to make your wait comfortable. Even you were not selected, expect to be there till at least noon, or later. Two complaints/suggestions: 1. In addition to water fountains, would be nice to have water bottle filling stations (like those at DIA). I dislike spending money on bottled water and absolutely hate generating plastic waste. (Recycle takes energy, too). 2. I was with the group of "backup" jurors and did not sit at the box. There were TONS of room in the courthouse and somehow the clerks jammed six people into each bench. The woman sitting next to me was disgusting - coughing and hacking and eating with her mouth open and smacking and burping, and in general making all sort of bodily noises. I was summoned for jury duty and this review is so people have an up to date idea of how things are in light of COVID. I entered through the side entrance about 20 minutes before the time on my summons and there were only 2 people in front of me in the security line. They have the spots marked where you're supposed to stand while waiting so people aren't too close to each other. You have to take your laptop, keys, and cell phone out of your bag and open any water bottles. It's not really well marked where to go after security, but I eventually found a sign for jurors. That check in line also had spots marked for socially distancing. I was checked in within about 5 minutes. They give you an assigned seat number and all of the chairs in the waiting lounge are spaced apart. The one challenge you might have if you want to work while you're waiting is that you're not sitting at a table or by a plug in with the assigned chairs. There were vending machines in the lounge with disinfecting wipes for the keypad. You can't take your mask off in the lounge, so you need to step out to eat or drink. I didn't make it to a courtroom, so can't speak to that, but I was satisfied with the steps they took from what I saw. read more

Being in this place, even just for jury duty, is a real struggle. The actual process of being selected as a juror is redundant and in my experience (a trial over alleged spit on a door) a complete waste of time and taxpayer money. More effort is spent on having a "pretty building" and "nice, modern facilities" rather than on making the process more efficient and time worthy. I went here for jury duty the other day and was actually super impressived by how clean and modern this place was! They have plenty of bathrooms and the coffee shop even serves good coffee. I would recommend getting dropped off, taking the bus or light rail because parking can be tough around here. read more

Visited this place for the first time ever for jury duty and it's super clean and spacious. Everyone working there was so kind, helpful, and patient so it made my civic duty a lot more likeable. Came in for the sentencing portion of a trial I was a juror on in January 2016. Am so glad I did to see how the process went and to meet the family members and friends of the victim. It was great to hear how much he had an impact on their lives and what a great person he was. I was happy to see one of the other jurors attend the sentencing phase with me. It was nice hearing the victim's brother speak and give us some insight on his life and how the death of his brother has impacted him. There are so many dedicated judges, bailiffs, assistants, lawyers (defense and prosecution), security, admin staff in this courthouse--I really admire these folks that have to see so much of what is wrong with our society today!! I commend them and I was grateful for the privilege of serving as a juror. read more

Super easy and about as comfortable as a courthouse gets. I was called for jury duty so I'll be speaking about that. Arrive early. Don't play games with that. If you are in the 8am group, there is the discounted parking garage across the street. You don't need to put the receipt in your car... you put in the stall number. Enter on Fox street for a shorter line but no matter what be prepared to stand outside in line. I got there at 7:15 (for the 8am call) and there wasn't a line (very thankful) but I have heard of many folks who stand outside in the rain or snow. It is like airport security. You have to pull out your laptop. Keys, belt and jacket into the xray machine. If you bring coffee, they will make you open it. Then you go to the jurors lounge for check in. Be sure you filled out the bottom half of the summons. Otherwise you have to get out of line, do that, and get back in line. Then you sit and wait. Bring your ipad, kindle, or laptop for use in this room. There are nice bathrooms, vending machines and a back section with tables. I could NOT find plugs anywhere (but the bathroom). If you are a nursing mother and need to pump, there is a lactation room. Pretty much everyone in the 8am group got called to go to a court room. Listen for your number. Then you follow your people to the courtroom. Once in the courtroom, you can't use electronic devices. So bring a book or a word search. Better to have something that allows you to listen and doesn't take too much focus because it's easier on you, if you have to go to the box, if you know what's going on. This is the long part. I was in a felony trial. That's 13 jurors. We had 14 in the box then another 14 or so in front of the juror box, then the rest of us on the benches. They talked to the jurors in the the first to sections and when they dismissed people, they called others up from the benches. They obviously have done research beforehand because certain people were told to go to certain places. Be calm, answer honestly (you are under oath), and just relax. I was dismissed after a few rounds due to a time conflict but not before we had to go get lunch then come back. Just be prepared for a whole day thing if you are called. All in all, not awful... doing my civic duty and all but a little intimidating. read more

For a jury duty summons it wasn't too bad..the waiting room is really nice and has a coffee shop. I only waited like 30 min before I got called with a group for a trial. Jury selection took around 1.5 hours. Wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I ended up getting dismissed completely after answering a series of questions. read more

Hopefully you are here for jury duty or you work here and not because you are in the process of being prosecuted for a criminal charge. The building is open, airy, and modern. Tip #1: enter from the entrance on Fox instead of Colfax. No line. Tip #2: use public transit or get here early enough to take advantage of the free offered parking for jurors. That means getting here before 745a. Tip #3: bring something to do (a book, crossword puzzle, etc) Tip #4: all liquids (water/coffee) need to be brought in sealable containers. Tip #5: just because you have the consideration of showering doesn't mean everyone else will. Bring some essential oils to dab near your nose in case this happens to you, too. Extra: bring a travel coffee mug and leave yourself time to stop by the Starbucks at 14th and Speer. You'll be glad you're caffeinated. read more

I had the lucky privilege to be sent a summons for Jury Duty earlier this month for the city and county of Denver. The building itself is actually a lot nicer than I was imagining. Not having spent a lot of time in courthouses, I would guess it is nicer than most - partly due to the fact that it is a newer building and is fairly easy to navigate. The security lines, though were long at the time I needed to re-enter the building after lunch, moved through at a steady pace. I was amazed at how fast a line of 40+ people could get through security without any hassle. The main jury duty room where everyone is first herded into is fairly large and can hold a surprisingly good crowd. They make everyone watch an incredible, top notch video about what to expect in jury duty and the importance of serving your civil duty to society. I had a seat that happened to be directly below a television so I didn't get to see the awesome digital effects and all of the hard work that was put into the video except for what I could get out of my squinting to watch a screen on the other side of the room. After the video has concluded, a woman comes to the front of the large room and stands at the podium instructing that she will be calling out jury duty numbers to go to whatever trial is going on. After she rambles off about 70+ numbers and instructs everyone who's number got called to the back of the room, you wait a good ten minutes before the process starts all over again. I was lucky enough to have escaped the first round, but alas, my number was called in the second bunch of numbers. If you are one of the lucky few (such as myself) who had their number called, you get to then go wait upstairs outside one of the numerous courtrooms where attendance is called. The courtroom clerk picks the super lucky to line up in a line outside of the door (those who will be on the jury panel first). The rest is pretty self-explanatory, although I will admit that compared to my previous jury service in Weld County, this one seemed to take a lot longer to get little accomplished. I don't know if it's because there is such a large number of people to accommodate, many of which don't understand what to do, or if they are really busy and unorganized - maybe it's a bit of both. While the building itself is actually quite nice and comfortable, I am hoping to not enter this building again for quite some time. P.S. If you are called for jury duty - bring a book or iPad or something to entertain yourself. I could see how exhaustingly boring it would be if you didn't have anything as such. read more

This place is always so clean but security lady i delt with today was totally having a power fit. After clearing my pockets of everything and removing my belt all i got on me is my coat and clothes at which point i wait for instructions to walk through detector , the lady never did so i walked through no issues at which point i have now been yelled at to take my jacket off(btw the detector didnt go off clearly unnecessary so i take it off walk back through again no instructions. If you wanna give attitude for an item be sure you doing your job 100% dont just stand there with the wand up your ass js your the first person people deal with why fuck up everyone else day behind with the attitude you give off. Other then that my jury duty anticipation is growing with excitement lol. read more

A beautiful building. I was there for jury duty and arrived 15 minutes late at 8:45am. The clerk was unbelievably rude and told me that there was now a "warrant" out for me since I had missed jury duty and I could come back tomorrow or Wed. I've attended jury duty many times before and I've never been late until now due to a sick kid. I understand they have a job to do but wow, that's harsh! I can't really afford to come back Wed since I'm self-employed mom of 4 kids. But on the other hand, a "warrant on me" sounds pretty bad too. Lesson learned. Be on time for jury duty! read more

Advice: security lines are long and run outside the entrance - though move quickly. Bring hat for sun or rain slicker if there rain etc. Once inside the juror call room, there's two vending machines which were well stocked. One took credit cards, the other cash only. Water sodas or snacks. They have wifi and after getting the "agreement" page to appear, was remarkably fast. There's a lounge off to the right where u can set up at a table (wasn't too crowded when I was there). Bathroom are in the gathering room too - as well as a private lactating room which u just have to ask access for. I was on the 10:00 call list and my number wasn't called. The 8:00am shift will mean you're more likely to be called. One women on the 8:00am shift was on the last group to be called at 11:40...agh! Number calling ends at noon - everyone not called is dismissed. No service for another 12 months at least. read more

ugh no one wants to go to a courthouse. i went for jury duty and it sucked, but sucked less than if i had to go for legal reasons i'm sure. the problem wasn't because of the courthouse itself, but because of jury duty. i had a bid to get done at work at it was just bad timing. I am almost 30 and this was my 4th bout of jury duty. Someone i work with who is 52 has never once received a juror summons. How is that possible? lol... The courthouse itself was very beautiful inside. This surprised me. Security had a very long line but it went extremely fast which was nice. I have been to other courthouses where the security lines are not fast at all. The room where they put all the potential jurors was huge and had a lot of seating. just a warning- if you sit by a window it will be chilly if it is during the summer as the air conditioners are lined up around the windows. they also have vending machines. juror room had bathrooms but they were out of order. we were asked not leave the room unless it was a break. fortunately i did not need to use the restroom but i'm sure there were others that suffered. i am no stranger to jury duty- it's always the same no matter where you go. they make you watch a video that explains the juror selection process and court process. you will be thanked a dozen times for doing your civic duty. unfortunately, my juror number was called. :( :( hope to never be back, for jury duty or any other reason!! read more
