I can not imagine there is another school that knows each individual child as well as they do. The school believes in intentionality and authenticity in all that they do and it is a blessing that permeates the community. My children as well as my husband and I are being loved and served each and every day by the staff and head of school. The education they are receiving is top notch while also rooting everything they are taught in Biblical truths in a simple and approachable way. Daily chapel and the invitation to attend anytime make the school even more special. I asked a long time teacher at TCS and who has also taught for many, many years elsewhere if she liked her job. She didn't hesitate to say, it was the hardest job she had ever had but also the BEST most rewarding job she ever had. The administration has high expectations of their teachers from which the students benefit daily and I would guess the teachers do too. It is a cultural of excellence with a foundation in God's word and truths. Come take a tour and see for yourself!!!

In the last year, some of the most involved parents at Eakin pulled up stakes in public education and opted to shell out 10K to escape the increasing physical tensions and gaps as Nashville fails to invest in public education. I digress....so, you'll be paying more for education than you thought you would!! And SBA is a good balance between the crazy expensive USN (20K) and your kid joining either the Bloods or the Crips in 4th grade (I jest....sort of). The school is Catholic, but truly more accepting of other religions than Catholic schools use to be. They have mass on Holy Days and religion class, but often religion class is writing notes to sick school mates or families. The high points of the school are location, curriculum and and administration. The math program is particularly strong and they have opportunities for kids to do advanced work in smaller classes. The school is small and mostly clean. The small footprint makes it hard to have too many large group meetings. Areas that could use attention IMO are gym/health, getting rid of some of the old school teachers and the aftercare program needs an overhaul with some actual activities. Parents are generally pretty involved and the school does a really good job of having a unique identity in spite of the fact that kids come in with Vandy parents from many neighborhoods. They offer buses for a fee and a summer program as well. All in all this is a great school for a fraction of the cost of many other local private schools. The teachers and administration have a real 'can do' attitude and the kids seem to flourish is almost all arenas.

We visited many, many schools before deciding on SBA and we have never regretted our decision to enroll our children. They have many wonderful extra-curricular activities such as art, lego club, boy and girl scouts, cross country, volleyball, swim team and the list goes on. The staff, teachers and curriculum are absolutely stellar. Our children are excited about learning again! Plus, every grade level gets TWO outdoor recesses during the day which my kids love! They have had great transitions to a new school and have made many friends. The parents and staff are welcoming and there is a general sense that they are glad we are there and want our children to excel. If you are in the market for a K-8 school in Nashville, it just doesn't get any better than SBA.

It's a great best kept secret of Metro. The teachers are the bomb, programs are amazing and my kids leap from the car with excitement to get to school. But don't kid yourselves....it's still a public school, so you you get out what you put in. The PTO requires 2 gallons of blood, but once you surrender it, invest yourself in your children's education by going to meetings, helping on committees, and being an all around involved parent, this place will rock your world. As icing on the cake, there is ECP - the aftercare program where you will NOT find death by dodge ball and fighting kids, but crazy good staff, science stations, group gym activities, an art station and Friday bingo that makes my kids FREAK out with excitement. An excellent school, but be prepared to be an excellent parent and do right by the teachers and students -they are busting it and live for involved parents.
