I had no clue where to get a nice hat and I had no time so I checked out the major department stores' selection online first. Boring, boring, boring. So the search began for a real hat designer. If I was going to the Derby, I was going to do it right! I found Chapeau Creations on Yelp (of course) and took a look at their website. They definitely have a lot of different Derby hats so I called them up and spoke with Elaine. It seems like a lot of hat designers make their hats custom but, thankfully, Elaine told me that, while she does custom hats, she also had some ready to wear hats to choose from. Phew! I made an appointment to come in the day before my flight. In order to get a better idea of what I was looking for, she gave me a password for the website so I could browse the collection and pick out some of my favorites to try on at the appointment. When I got to my appointment, she had a wide variety of hats in all different colors for me to try. She had all of the styles I had picked out and a variety of others available just in case. It was definitely difficult narrowing it down to just one. In the end I liked one style but in a different color. Elaine was able to modify the hat in the color I liked so that I could have exactly what I wanted. She said she was also able to adjust it to swoop a certain way if I would have wanted. I chose to keep it just as it was. The day at the Derby was amazing and I got tons of compliments on my beautiful hat. Now, if I ever go again, I know who to call first!

Today, I walked into this store feeling very sad about my hair loss. I came out of the store feeling like celebrating my new wigs. This place is filled with beautiful wigs and 2 incredible ladies. The wigs are high-quality and stunning. Tammy greeted me at the store. She made me feel so welcome. I calmed down and told her my story. Tammy was so kind and showed me around the store. It is so beautiful. I was excited to see the selection of the different types and colors of the wigs. I was thrilled and felt like an adult at Linda's Headquarters, hoping to find the perfect wig. Gloria and Tammy are knowledgeable and compassionate. Gloria went through several wigs until she found me three perfect matches. I lost my hair to chemo and was very sad. I had some wigs, but they did not feel like my hair. Gloria can do anything you want for your wig. I never felt so connected to a caring and talented stylist. I felt confident that she would make me feel attractive again. he happy ending is that I found 3 wigs for a perfect value. If you need a wig. Linda's Headquarters is the place to go to! Thank you, Linda, Tammy, and Gloria, for making my day! read more

If you are looking for a stylish wig or fashionable hat (casual, dressy or wedding elegant) this is your store! There is such an incredible selection. I just had an occasion that I needed a special hat. Linda's Headquarter's had so many choices to choose from -- I bought three adorable hats and I love them all and will get so much use out of them. Linda, the owner, is very "up" on styles and trends and is so sweet and helpful. I personally do not have a lot of time to shop so it's good to know of such an excellent shop where I can find just the right accessory for the occasion. read more

Definitely deserves the five stars. I walked in to find both a beautiful and vast selection of synthetic and real hair wigs. The prices were so reasonable that I ended up buying two synthetic wigs. The hats, although I did not buy one, were absolutely stunning. I will definately be returning for more wigs and maybe a hat. Lining the walls, the wig styles were seriously endless. I was able to freely try on as many wigs as my heart desired. Linda was very sweet , patient, and helpful when it came to helping me. It was really a great experience. read more

This wig and hat shop is truly excellent. There's a massive number of high quality wigs of all lengths, styles, colours and prices. The owner is extremely helpful and supportive, and works with your budget. I don't think you can find a larger or better range anywhere in the Chicago-Skokie area. I recently purchased a super high-end custom wig from her that was heavily discounted. The European hair is incredibly soft and slightly curly, and the entire wig weighs next to nothing. This was the worst hair appointment of my life. I came in with a brand new unit in hopes for a cut…read morein. I was at this salon for over 8 hours only to get the brand new unit completely destroyed. During my appointment my stylist Chanel said several times that she needed to buy me new unit and that she doesn't usually do these. Here is what went wrong. They did not have the correct glue for lace. The glue was applied to both the lace and my scalp (a huge no-no to the lace). I even mentioned it. Five minutes later the glue had seeped all the way through the lace. This caused a disaster. My hair was covered in glue. I then had to have someone come drop proper glue off (why offer a service if you are not even prepared). Then once it was on she literally cut the hair on the back shorter than my real hair! Between the glue disaster and the cut my brand new system was ruined. My stylist kept apologizing to me says she would buy me a new unit and she is sorry that she doesn't really do these. I got sent home with an awful cut, my day wasted and glue was coated all over my hair! I then stopped in the next day to show them the disaster and no one was at the salon. I had left a voicemail with Debbie and she eventually got back to me. I told her what happened. She refunded me the money for the cut in service but not the unit. She even expressed how she shouldn't have even taken me as they normally only do woman's hair. I told her that I would then like a refund for my unit that her inexperienced stylist had botched. I told her how much my hair cost, she than said " they don't cost that much". Again why would she know if she doesn't use this hair often at her salon. I sent her an email with the invoice. I got no response. The super frustrating part is that I waited 6 months for this hair to come in from back order (350$). I ended up having to wait 2 weeks with an awful head of hair on to emergency fly to New York City to have my unit done correctly. The stylists jaws hit the ground when they saw what hairlab Chicago had done to me. The whole experience was traumatizing and stressful and I wasn't heard by owner! In my opinion if you knew better and even admitted that she shouldn't have accepted me as client, then why make me responsible for your mistake! I would never let a client walk out looking like this and then hold them financially responsible. Over all Debbie doesn't want to take responsibility for the mistake and I'm here to warn any further men to not come here! I am completely disgusted and disappointed with my experience here. Apparently it's my fault for getting my hair done there? I just don't get Debbie's logic. They should really take full responsibility to make this right on their end. I have pictures and videos of the whole experience.

Zero problems at the register. Receipt always right. I know EXACTLY what other reviewers are describing, but it's never happened to me at this store. I used to shop here all the time when I lived in Evanston. I started going to another beauty supply store that was closer to two other retail stores I occasionally shop in. But that store needs serious upgrades when it comes to technology and using Google Wallet. After several tries, I gave up and left. I was on my way home to grab my wallet so I could pay the old-fashioned way (even though I never carry cash) and I slowed down next to my old "regular" spot. I walked in. There was a Black woman cashier smiling at me, who was very friendly and professional. My digital wallet worked there. They even charge less. I told her I was going to start coming to this location more often. The only con I have is it really is cramped in the store. They have entirely too many shelves so they can have more inventory. You're definitely not going to walk down the aisle with another person. Someone has to leave for you to walk in. But I pretty much only go in beauty supply stores for facial cleaners, relaxers, eyebrow razors and headwraps. None of those items would make me have to hang around for very long or need a whole lot of assistance. In all of my in-and-out visits, zero problems. There used to be a dark-haired Asian man at the register who was kinda quiet and laidback. Even during the pandemic when the store required ordering online and picking up curbside, he was usually the person who came outside. No issues. I cannot recall one bad incident in several years of going there, so kudos to them.

Wig was a no. Asked for a 3rd option and she proceeds to say that they have a 2 try on policy. It was at that moment that I look at her, looked around the room to see all these rules and policies, and thought to myself, wow....after everything, ya'll still treat us like this?
