Ever since I quit my job at Adidas Originals, I've been saving up money and limiting purchases making this store's development a serious spending problem. The GF promised me I could go wild at the end of the year for Xmas should I restrain myself. I did, but I guess it wasn't necessary. If I had walked in, I wouldn't ever have cared to spend money. I walked into the store, and was met with a pretty icy reception. I made a circle and picked up a few sneakers. I even held one for about 5 minutes hoping to get a size, and to no avail; no eye contact, no greeting, no chance. Someone was wiping down a counter, and someone else was fixing someone else's hair. Maybe I just didn't look like someone worth helping? Maybe it was culturalism or something. It was cold and not only did nobody help me, but I genuinely felt like they thought I shouldn't even be there. Much of my anger is just pure disappointment in how I was treated. I'm not looking for hand-held service, but some acknowledgment would be nice. I will say that on this side of town, they have the best selection of Nikes I've seen in one place. Could've used more Adidas' and Reeboks', but that's preference. There's really only so many Air Force Ones that I give a shit about.

I walked into the store and one of the young ladies greeted me and i asked her where the hats were. She then walks me over to the hats. I had just left from Ross Dress for Less so i had a bad in my hand. One of the items i purchased at Ross was gummie bears. I was eating a gummy bear when this security guard (very huge guy) walks up to me VERY AGGRESSIVELY and tells me that i am not supposed to be eating and my bag should be left at the register. While those are not unreasonable requests, the delivery was totally unappreciated. I feel like the young lady working there could have told me that when she greeted me and i would have given her my bag and retrieved it when i was done shopping. I was treated as if i was in a night club breaking a rule and the bouncer was throwing me out. Nonetheless, i decided to just leave because their "bouncer" was literally touching me with his chest. Way too close for my comfort. Needless to say, because of how i was treated i did not purchase the hat and WILL NEVER step foot into another Mr. Alan's, ever again. Oh and the store was completely empty! That should have been a sign to me but I'm one of those people who gives everyone a chance and i like to experience for myself. Well, if you're reading this and still decide to visit this store, you better not eat a gummy bear or the bouncer will BOUNCE you right out of there.

Was "helped" by a young man cashier number 649221. Very unhelpful, didn't seem to have any product knowledge on how to customize the hats when working in a HAT store. I wanted to add TWO initials to the side of the hat I purchased which he seemed very confused and honestly annoyed about. He had a slight attitude and it felt like we were bothering him. He told us to come back in 20 minutes which we did, when we came back the woman working there asked why we were standing there and if we needed anything, and we said we were waiting on the hat.. even though we were the only people in the store and were just in there 20 minutes ago. Both of them seemed confused and annoyed by me and my sisters presence. The man then said, after us waiting another 15 minutes, the machine was "acting wonky" which has never happened to me at ANY other Lids location. Also- I only wanted two letters on the hat.. not hard. He then asked if I could come back the next day for it- I live 30 minutes away and told him that would not be possible. He then refunded me for the embroidery.. and kept my recipet which I thought was odd. He then tried giving me back the hat that I paid for, as I saw them pulling out the stitches they had messed up, which had holes and misaligned stitching on it.. I don't want a messed up hat that I paid good money for? Also when I came in they were finishing up a customized hat.. so not sure what happened to the machine within a 20 minute time frame. Again, I have bought plenty of hats and customized hats from lids and have never been treated in such a rude way or had any issues with customizing. Not sure if I trust lids now to customize anything! They then didn't have another hat in the same size, which he annoyed- again- offered a full refund. Luckily, my sister asked if we could pick out a new hat that was the same price which he allowed but it was unfortunate I could not get the original hat I wanted. I understand I came in an hour before close but this was the only time I had to shop for christmas and I was very disappointed and upset with this whole experience, the lack luster customer service, and the annoyed employees. Will not be returning.

Wow! I hadn't heard of Tori Grace Outfitters until I was wandering the Apple Fest this year. Her…read morestudio is just down the street from me (it's literally two or three blocks away), which makes me wonder what other gems are hiding within the industrial buildings in Ravenswood. First things first: Whilst she does have a studio at which you can shop (the address listed here), I don't think it keeps regular hours so you'll need to text or call to visit (number is also listed on this listing, or on her website). Alternatively, Tori Grace merchandise can be found at several shops in and around the suburbs, including Andersonville Galleria a few blocks away on Clark. You'll also find her at festivals and events throughout the city. The business began because she made some bows and headbands for her daughter, and it's certainly blossomed from there. Onesies, hats, coasters, t-shirts, hoodies, pillows... she's got a bit of everything. Most of it is Chicago-related, which makes for great souvenirs or gifts. I bought my Chicago baby a couple onesies (she's ready for her first Cubs game next season!), a hat for myself, and I was eyeing a couple of bolster-style pillows that I suspect I will own at some point. Prices are very reasonable and I love supporting a local business! At a local festival, I saw that she had her portable sewing machine out and was actually making additional items in between sales. If you're looking for gifts, items for yourself, or your dog (yes, she she has dog clothes!), you'll find some really great things at Toni Grace Outfitters.
