I ordered 3 fish and one vegan, but they packed in a beef one instead. I don't eat beef, so my loss, and hubbies gain. The hubby got a fish, jerk, beef, and pork. He loved them all, but was meh about the beef, as it was not as colorful looking as the rest. I thought all my fish tacos were fantastic. The tacos also came with lemon, and lime and a side of hot sauce, which was super flavorful and not too hot. I wanted to try the chips and gauc but they were sold out. Churros delish and I really enjoyed the chocolate sauce for dipping. It would be awesome if they had a caramel sauce as well. Opening up the new sleek black packaging made me extremely happy as well. The tacos were so bright and colorful. Seriously, go look at the pics I uploaded of the tacos...WOW! Everything was packed with so much care. I've never been to this place before, and did not do much research beforehand, but if I knew this place is known for the long wait times, I most likely would have skipped coming here, or just ordered online, which a lot of people were doing. That may have caused a back log of orders. Online orders, telephone orders and in person orders for a small food truck, with 3 people working....that is a lot of pressure, and it kind of screws over the customers placing orders in person. Fast forward to a screaming toddler, a person waiting in their car eyeing me for our parking spot (for 20 minutes...eyeroll), and a very slow food truck, we FINALLY got our tacos at 12:45pm. On to the food...everything is made in house, from the chips to the toppings. All platters come with 3 tacos, side of chips and salsa. You are able to add additional free toppings to your tacos like salsa, cabbage, avocado, ect. I am kicking myself in the butt for not doing so. I ordered the fish tacos, and the hubby ordered the pork. He noted that his pork was pretty dry and wish he added salsa to his tacos. Although, he did say they were good (but again, not wait 45 minutes good). My fish tacos were pretty flavorful, but I ran into the same problem with them being dry. The first taco I found the fish on the drier and chewier side. The other two were fine. It came topped with a crema sauce so that helped a bit.The chips were really good, and addicting. Their salsa that came with the chips was awesome and a pretty nice portion. The tacos itself are about 3 bites. The tacos were good, but waiting 45 minutes at a food truck is inexcusable, and left a sour taste in my mouth. I would not rush back, but this place is not a write off, because the tacos were good. The portions are on the smaller side. Their menu is rather limited. They have their chicken sandwich, their tacos, a salad, and sweet potatoe fries. They also had a daily special. That's it, that's all. COST/VALUE And this is my main issue with Red Roasters (which my friend agreed with). At $9 for a main and $6 for sweet potatoe fries (which I didn't try), that too me is about $2-$3 too much for what you get. (If you order a combo, you get the main, the fries, and a drink for $15). This, unfortunately, is a common occurrence with a lot of the new food trucks that opened up last year (Red Roasters isn't the only one). I guess time will tell if selling items at this price is a good decision or not. LOCATION/PARKING Their location on Bank is such that you should be able to find parking on a side street nearby if arriving by car. SEATING There isn't any seating at the food truck but it is on a part of Bank that is less occupied so finding a spot on the sidewalk to eat shouldn't be a problem. WOULD I GO BACK? I love how there were lots of toppings to choose from, and guacamole is included so you don't have to pay extra for it. The chicken was flavourful and I got a decent amount of it. It was a tad too salty for my liking, but still tasty. I like that it's lean chicken breast. For my toppings I got rice, black beans, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, coleslaw, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, and "crunchies" which is just broken up tortilla chips, lol. One of the toppings available is noodles, which looked like chow mein noodles. I passed, but if you want to load up on carbs and have a really filling meal, you can. The small was a good size for me, I was full but not stuffed and feeling gross afterwards. Ingredients were fresh and staff wore gloves while preparing my food (and of course also masks since we are in the midst of this Covid Pandemic). I like that the bowl is cardboard and not plastic. The lid is plastic though. On my second visit, I got the Tequila Lime Chicken Tacos ($10.49 for 3). This pretty much tasted like the burrito bowl I had, but in taco form, and with less toppings, lol. The tacos come with fixed toppings (rice, lettuce, green onions, salsa, sour cream and "crunchies" aka tortilla chips), if you want to add more toppings, you pay extra. I asked them to hold the sour cream, and no green onions. I was permitted to substitute another vegetable since I didn't want green onions and I got green peppers instead. I thought this was very nice of them to offer to replace the green onions with something else because the signage said "no toppings substitutions." The tacos were flour tortillas which I don't like as much as corn tortillas, but they did hold up very well and didn't fall apart, like corn tortillas sometime do. The box that the tacos came in was all cardboard, which I liked. They had this little plastic thing that they put in the box to hold the tacos up and in place. I liked that (even though it's plastic). It's mainly a takeout joint. There were 2 tables of 2, but it's definitely not a place that I would sit and eat. Just grab and go! Service was friendly and fast. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot.
