So today was supposed to be a Jack 'O Latern craft day for kids. Instead, as per the library clerks, I personally overheard them say, "The library doesn't want the liability of having a bunch of kids with scissors. Let them do it at home. That's not our problem." The clerks decided to bag the items and send them home with the parents. It's pretty sad that children can no longer enjoy a craft day or an entertaining day without worrying about the underlying issues of liability. read more

I would give the library a 4.5 stars if they had longer hours! They have study rooms, computers and great books.

Loudest library ever. This library has all the basic services you'd expect, except for a quiet environment to study, read, or prepare for anything where you need to focus. During my visit, three unsupervised 10 year olds were permitted to play Minecraft, or other games, on the computers in the common area with no oversight from the librarians. The constant giggling, loud talking, and open belching (followed by more hysterical laughing) were enough to drive me out and try to take my state employment assessment elsewhere. Fortunately, I didn't start it before the kids reached the crescendo. I did attempt to do some studying earlier in the day using one of the private rooms, but that proved pointless as the teenage girl in the room next door was on her phone and squealing uncontrollably during her conversation. There is no insulation between rooms. Entrance is the worst placement I've seen for any business. Are they trying to dissuade people from using it?? Gaining entry requires a shuttle or island hopper flight from the either parking lot...easily 150 meter hike to the only entrance. The physical planning for this library was not thought out, at all. I won't be returning - not because of any of the reasons above, but because the hours make it so difficult to visit. Why a library would close at 5:00pm when a majority of students and guests most likely be able to use it is beyond me. Also..closed on Fridays and Sundays.. ugh. read more

Now this may be a bit off track, but the recycle bins next to the Lincoln Library are awesome! So convenient to swing by on our way to the library. Easy in and easy out! I know they used to be for everything from glass to cardboard to plastic, but now it is cardboard only, no more glass and plastic. Bummer! The library is awesome! It's so peaceful and quiet and the staff is awesome. The atmosphere inside is great for children and adults as well. The book sales are great too. Watch for signs on Twelve Bridges Road for their dates. Thank you Lincoln Library for being a place that my five year old son loves to go. He gets so excited to visit and we think it's great. Oh, and if you have any say in the recycle bins next to you, it would be great to get glass and plastic back. read more

This is a beautiful addition to the city of Lincoln. It's been open for several years now and I've got to admit that this is one of the best libraries in Placer County. It has this wide open feel to it, everything here is so new. This building is Huge! Lots of books here, it seems that each time I've come here, there's been more added to their books, DVD's, music CD's and more. I've noticed that they have a wide assortment of teen and children's books. I've noticed that they have a great selection of teen Manga comics. The libraries hours are posted on their website. They are open from Tuesday- Saturday. You will find the friendliest staff here. They have a homework help club for kids after school, which is great for those kiddos who need that extra help after school. read more

I came here today for the first time since I have moved to Lincoln in January as soon as I came in I got a very warm friendly greeting as soon as I asked the lady where I could get a fax done she responded very nicely right over here and I was able to pay for it right there I also found a lot of cheap books for $.25 which is a great price for books I highly recommend this location to anybody looking for a library they don't just have books they also have CDs you could French and much much more very clean establishment very friendly staff very nice visit altogether they even signed me up for a free library card I will definitely be back here soon for future visits I look forward to my next experience here very friendly staff Very great experience I look forward to see what great deal that you get next time I come in here read more

i give them 5 stars because of how well they treat everyone and not only that but because of the free guest passes.

It's a nice one! This library isn't too big! So just enough for you to not get lost but still find what you need. My daughter and I had a great time here. They have a nice child section with a play and read area for little ones. They have a computer area that is a nice size for you to browse if you need too! The staff was very helpful . I went to grab a few books on nutrition! Yeah I know it sounds boring right. Well right but health is something we shouldn't take lightly! I found a few books that will get me started on this journey of staying healthy and happy! I enjoyed everything here! Especially the self checkout stands! You don't have to wait to check out. If your looking for a quiet place to study, then this is NOT the place to be. The employees are louder than the guest. And don't bother asking for help, they will tell you to use the computers for assistance. I have been coming here for the last four consecutive Satudays to study; I can't believe how many parents think its okay to let there kids scream, yell and run around with the library cart. I guess they think this type of behavior is okay because the staff excepts it. I'd rather go to any other library than this place. read more

While the library has some positive things they are doing, unfortunately there are items of concern, which could be improved. Pros: 1. Beautiful building: the architecture is well done and it is very inviting upon entry. 2. Internal Layout: the internal layout is easily discernible and makes sense to a newcomer. Types of books and sections are clearly marked. 3. Computer Checkout: streamlined checkout process is up to modern standards and, unless something goes wrong, you can check out your books without having to wait in line for a human being. Cons: 1. Library Hours: there's no point in having a fantastic library of no one can use it. The library's hours make sense for the population of Lincoln who has the flexibility to go the Library in the middle of the day, but for households with working parents, the hours do not make sense. The library is closing right about the time most people are getting off work. Rather than being able to spend an evening as a family visiting the library, families in Lincoln must go elsewhere. This is a missed opportunity for the library to do what other libraries in the area have done. Namely, Lincoln Public Library misses out on a chance to be a center of knowledge, discussion, and the arts in Lincoln. 2. Location: the library sits well away from the majority of businesses and the main hubs of congregation in the Lincoln area. Other than the residents of Twelve Bridges, most Lincoln residents are required to drive a distance to reach the library. This means that young people are unable to use the library for study purposes as much as they potentially could if the library had been built closer to main community-hubs. I'm not unaware that there is a new high school being built next to the library. However, if the hours do not change, it will still remain a closed investment in Lincoln's youth who could use the library for study and culture. 3. Staff: the staff is friendly, but not necessarily knowledgeable about the workings of the library payment systems when something goes wrong. Lots of computers; there is always one open to use. The computers can be used without a library card. There are also tables with outlets if you bring your own laptop. For reading, I recommend the magazine/newspaper section; the chairs are comfy. read more

What an absolute delight to have in our little town. This library is amazing for so many reasons. I personally appreciate the private study rooms. I need to read my papers out loud for grammar and content, and having privacy means the world to me. They are first come first serve, however, so come early! The kids' book selection is really nice. It's also a wee bit separated from the larger library space which is nice for the kids to express themselves while not disturbing the adult users of the library. They have kids reading time which looked packed to me, I didn't take my toddler, but I hope to soon. Typical library offerings include reference, audiobooks, public computers, periodicals, and book sales. I've always been able to ask for help from the staff quickly which is nice. The staff are not friendly but thankfully I only had to interact with them to get a library card. On that note, why do they still have paper applications? Also, their website doesn't even send you emails on when your books are due. You have to sign up on a different website in order to do that. The location of the front doors make no sense, why have the parking lot be like a mile away from the entrance. The worst part about this library is the book quality. The board books are taped up and falling apart. I perused the DVDs and they have 10 copies each of the first two Indiana Jones but they can't buy new board books? They have rows and rows of empty computers but no money to put into their book collection? I rather drive further to go to a different library. read more

I was putting in disc 3 to be returned and put it in the drop box. Two weeks later I was informed that disc three was missing. The woman who called me was rather rude and insisted that I hadn't returned the disc. I've read other reviews that mentioned lost books . Some of the desk staff are extremely helpful and friendly. This is a very beautiful library that due to lack of funding is understaffed and is closed many hours of the week. Originally, it was supposed to be shared by the city of Lincoln, the new 12 Bridges high school, and the new Sierra College Lincoln campus. The last two institutions have yet to be built so the city has to foot The bill of operations alone. I have found that the staff are friendly and helpful and there are many local volunteers who also help out. If you would like to help the community, perhaps you would like to volunteer so your time to helping other patrons rather than posting negative comments about the lack of staff. read more

This place is my favorite place. They have definitely changed over the years for the better.they have ver comfortable chairs and a dedicated spot for teens! The library has private rooms in the back if you don't like to be around people or if you have a group you want to study with which is perfect for me. I really like this Library. And I go to a lot of Libraries. I am a complete book worm. But yea the building is great, excellent lighting, lots of space. Never seems to be too busy. Large selection of books, also a very large selection of DVD's as well. Movies and full series of TV-shows. Some great side meeting rooms as well. Beautiful children area. The librarians are very nice and there are a lot of computers available for use. They have not established a way to pay your fines online so that's a bummer, but they said they are working on it. They do have Library Elf that helps you track your stuff and can send you text and e-mail notifications when items are due. Great little feature. Another negative is their hours are kinda funky. I live in Roseville so it sucks to get out there and find out it is closed. So check those before you head out. Current Hours Monday closed Tuesday 1 - 7 Wednesday 1 - 7 Thursday 10 - 5 Saturday 1 - 5 Sunday closed Otherwise it is just a great library. It's a beautiful library, perfect location. Nothing wrong with the actual library itself but with the people working there. They keep saying I didn't return a book or magazine that I have. I always keep the printed receipt and check to make sure each book is returned. I have never lost books before, they made me pay a fortune! The library hours are very odd too. Check out books at your own risk here. Also make sure you check the date carefully when the books are due because their email notification no longer works. I remember when the Library first opened it was a good library, no issues whatsoever, so something changed recently. read more

Beautiful brand new library! Interesting front door location - kind of hidden and about as far as architecturally possible from any parking spots. Lots of quiet study spaces, tables and chairs, computers etc. Not so many books just quite yet, and their online catalogs aren't online yet either. But this place has tons of potential. They are even open on Saturday which is a novelty for Lincoln. read more

Two weeks ago I got my library card. I had to wait about 15 minutes in line to check out my books which was frustrating as my baby was crying on my hip. After I got my 5 DVD's and a few books for my son checked out I never got a confirmation email which I thought was odd. Turns out, you have to sign up for email notifications separately. I returned the DVD's a week late because the whole family was sick for a week. I returned expecting to pay $.25/day in fees. The fee per DVD was $1/day. When I expressed my dismay and confusion (is this standard in Placer County because I've never been charged so much) the clerk seemed uninterested and told me I needed to sign up for the separate email notifications. Useful information after the fact. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the complete lack of service, no sense of urgency to help, and cold response I received. read more

It's a nice library and quiet and quaint but similar to a previous review I too have returned books and they state I never return them and will charge me a late fee. I even wasted time looking thoroughly through my home for the said book only to go to the library and find it on the shelf. When I told the person up front, they seemed very nonchalant about it. Really!?!? Now it makes me nervous to check books here with the common error of being accused of not returning books that have been returned. read more

Like some earlier posters, I too had to pay late fees and replace a book that the library itself lost. I had checked out two books earlier this year. After three weeks, when I couldn't renew one of books online, I drove to the library and dropped off that one book in the library's outside drop off slot on the west side of the library. When returning the second book another three weeks later, I learned the first book was never scanned back in as "returned". I've been using this library for over 5 years and returned books not getting scanned back in right away is a common occurrence. Unscanned books are usually found when someone else decides to check them out of the library. But after four months, the book never surfaced. Since I couldn't prove that it was dropped in the return slot, I went ahead and paid the fees and replaced the book. I suggest that library patrons, when returning books, return them at the checkout desk and ensure that they are scanned back in rather than using the drop slots. read more

My review is primarily based on our experience with the Mother Goose on the Loose toddler program, which is really the only reason that we go to the library. Mr. Mike is the new-ish leader of the program, and is AWESOME! Really awesome. The kids absolutely love him. He's silly, and fun, and does an excellent job keeping the kids involved and engaged. The program previously had a pretty well-known reputation for being strict and serious, but they new staff have completely turned it around and Lincoln Library's story time is probably the most popular program now, in the Roseville area. We love it. My only complaint is the scheduling of Mother Goose on the Loose. The 10:30 group almost always fills to capacity, sometimes 15 minutes or more before start time, which can be hard to manage with a small, noisy toddler. The 11:30 time is much less busy, but is harder to make it through, so close to lunch. Based on the attendance, I wish that the library would adjust these times, or even add another day. read more

The only reason this library gets a second star is because it's conveniently close to where I live and we enjoy the mother goose class there on Thursdays. Never will I ever rent anything from here because they are terrible with book returns for some reason. I got a bill for $60 for books i know for a fact I returned. I've never not returned or lost any books from any library so getting that bill was extremely frustrating. I complained and the staff member seemed to have to deal with this kind of complaint a lot. I even threw out my library card from here to ensure I'm never tempted to pick out a book for me and my daughter to take home. Sad! read more

Quite a few people who work the materials check-out counter are no different then the cashiers at Walmart; people who did not care to pay attention to customer service training. Sure the library looks nice, but if the majority of the people who work there are gloomy, unprofessional, and do not know how to greet customers then you will probably not visit this library that often. I hear that the funding at this library is drying up and that their asking the public to plead with the city council. Hhmmmm...I can only wonder why! I can think of a few workers right now who should get the boot if they do not improve upon their customer service skills. Also, just as another reviewer complained, the entrance to this library is very inconvenient; far from the parking lot and towards the back of the library. This part of the library design does not make any sense. I really hope this library can fix the customer service problem that they have, because if they do then I would say that this library has a future and potential. For now, I would say if you have not experienced this library then go check it out. I can almost guarantee you that you will probably want in the future to drive to the Roseville libraries instead. read more

Every time i think i need to go get books for my kids, i cringe knowing i have to go to this library. been there twice so far. and the 2 times been there, the lady in the kid area wasnt helpful at all, she seemed bored and not enjoying her time. NOT MOMMY FRIENDLY.... for a library to host a story time for toddlers I can not believe that they lock the doors at 5 minutes. This is an activity catered meant to be directed towards young children which you would think that they understand that to be there exactly by the start time isn't always realistic. I mean really how distracting is it for a mom to slide in while they are singing the hello song. I wish that our downtown Carnegie library were still open and not sitting useless, but I'm glad our town still has a library and we use it frequently. I'm glad they are rather old fashioned with their expectations and not catering to the the "customer is always right" mentality which contributes to the type of unproductive self-entitlement that is so rampant in today's society. For the people who are horrible at returning books on time their are a few loopholes, and it also helps to be nice and remember that most of the staff are volunteering or underpaid and overworked. A beautiful building, a lot of great materials, and the people working there have always been friendly and very helpful to me. I am always really impressed going to this library and have learned a lot from the books that I borrowed. Even the movie section has some great finds, interesting documenteries and work out DVD's. The online system is also convenient for me. The library is spacious, the kids part also looks very inviting, you can rent out so many books at a time. beautiful library with growing developing resources. very poor access from both parking lots. the front door is on the opposite side of the handycap parking and out of site on that side. this creates difficulty and unnecessary expended energy for the elderly and many physically impaired that live in lincoln. we have to be greatful for the automatic front doors in spite of the poor planning. without them, many would not be able to enjoy the library. i have heard several complaints that the library is often closed at the posted hours. perhaps this can be addressed and corrected. seljh read more
