Have you been to the folsom library? Here, on my busiest day, I come with my little ones holding tight to my hands. When I'm here, I feel my eyes meet the window and books. Few days ago, although I was so exhausted but my little ones needed to borrow books no matter how tired I had to put on that mommy energy and get them here. I sat next to the window, watched through the window cars passing and enjoyed the outdoor lush beauty. There was a magic, no phones, library silence, row of books that stand like silent companions and each holding a world within the spine of books. At least the books are silent not like manager's, they don't ask how fast can you work on this. I feel library is a safe space, read, wander with imaginations, crave for more and eager to read next book from the series and let your brain learn new words or emotions through the book. Growing up, I was happy whenever the library trailer book bus came to our school. We never had library while growing up, so I looked forward to borrow book's when the library bus came. I clearly remember one time, my favorite book was dinosaur book. I renewed twice because the story was my favorite. And I'm glad my kids enjoy reading and thanks to the public library, we've borrowed thousands of books. And without the library, this wouldn't be possible without breaking the bank. And thanks to the library, we can borrow from different branches. They make it possible for kids to read and grow. All I want to say, thank you! The Folsom library is bright and comfortable. The natural light coming through the windows makes it an enjoyable place to read for a while.

This libary is the best of all the Sacramento libary branches. It has 3 sections, one for kids, one for teens, and one for adults. It also has a giant bookstore, which was my favorite part. read more

The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library. -Albert Einstein. Hermione Granger would probably agree. I do too. In my childhood, we didn't have the World Wide Web. So the library was not only a source for information but also for entertainment. And most importantly it was and still is free. FREE! Anyhow the Folsom library building is modern and updated with free WiFi and computers with free internet. The library is sectioned into a children's area and the other area for all other materials. There are study areas and lounge seating areas. The building also houses a Friends of the Library bookstore and the Einstein Cafe. The cafe has been closed since COVID hit. The parking lot is shared with the Folsom Lions Park and Zoo Sanctuary. Plus with your library card, you can electronically access eBooks. The catalog includes textbooks. You don't even have to step into the library to check out books. I love libraries but not this one. Plain and simple, the staff gives me heartburn. Unfortunately the majority of the library staff I encountered are not friendly nor helpful. At least to me. But I have hope that maybe one day they will be. read more

This is our go-to library, you can tell by all the check ins, in fact my fiancé, my 5 year old and I stop by weekly to pick up Books, DVDS and games! Books and DVDs are due in 3 weeks and games are due in 1 week. Items can be renewed when you log into your account online! You can also place items on hold through your account and the library will place them on their hold shelf once they come in! Keep in mind some DVDs may be do in 1 week if they are sent from another library. If on the rare occasion they arrive scratched, one of the librarians can repair them if you bring them to the counter. Some books may be tattered or torn as well, but it doesn't faze us! I would definitely recommend visiting this local library that was built in 2007, conveniently located next to the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, Folsom Public Library and Veterans Memorial inside Folsom City Lions Park! Make sure to pay a visit to the Friends of Folsom Library located just down the hall, we'll be stopping by this morning to donate some gently used children's books and purchase some Handmade Father's Day Cards as well to help support the library! Why not make a whole day out of it, with so many things to do all in 1 park, honestly I think it's one of the best/affordable things Folsom has to offer for families alike! We continue to come back, as well as recommend it to our friends, family and visitors! Besides the Natomas North Library, I would have to say this is one of my favorite libraries. Why? 1) They are stay open late (Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10am-8p) 2) The adult section is huge and is quiet for the most part in the areas where people are studying/reading. 3) There aren't as many homeless people walking around, so you can trust to leave some things out - without the worry someone will take your stuff. There's a nice honorary system, because you see a lot of the same people there working/studying and everyday. 4) This facility is clean; within the library and the bathrooms. 5) There is a coffee shop that sells snacks and sandwiches. 6) Customer service folks working the information desks are nice. ONLY bad thing is at night, the parking lot lighting is very dim so unless you're parked under a dim light, there are sections of the parking lot that are dark. Be mindful if you are staying late. read more

I love that this library is very large in size and the chairs & sitting areas are not beat up and worn out. Also the inside looks new and computers are in good shape. When I first walked in, I saw a line of people waiting to check out the books and non of the self checkout stations were being used. My two biggest complaints (hence I took off 2 stars) are: 1) the way they organize the children's books is very confusing. The books are placed in 2 separate rooms from each other. Most of the popular Disney books are checked out. They do have a big collections of other popular books like Pete the cat, llama llama, etc, but there were only less than 5 books to select from. I guess if you put a hold on the book that's already checked out, then you can be sure to get the exact ones you want. 2) defective self checkout machines: I thought I was being smart by using the self checkout machine instead of waiting in a long line. Wrong!! the "self checkout" machine was very slow which I didn't mind, but it's faulty since it froze and did not scan books properly when placing the books on the cheap thin scanning pad. I tried it the first time and it scanned 12 of the books then on the last book the computer screen froze and said it was processing. I waited patiently for a while and the screen kept saying it's processing. So I eventually had to bring all the books to the checkout counter (waited in line for 10 minutes after I spent 10 minutes at the self checkout machine) and the receptionist said "nothing was checked out at all" after the self check out screen said 12 of my books were checked out. I could see why there was a long line waiting to check out the books when I first walked in now. read more

This is my favorite library to go to. It is located on 411 Stafford Street in Folsom, CA, conveniently by the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, Folsom City Lions Park, Folsom Valley Railway (small train with a big umph) and Rodeo Park. Johnny Cash trail intersects here too so there is much to do around here. This public library features many books from children's, teens' to adults'. Also has vast dvd collection as well and periodicals. This public library also has two huge meeting rooms as well as study rooms for students. Friends of the Folsom Library has a small room for themselves as well. read more

She is five and she doesn't know how to read, but the library is a great place for kids, but there are some downsides because there is a book today that we couldn't find and it said somebody like had it but on the computer it said it was on shelf so I'm a little confused read more

I had a fun time. Well organized lib with loads of kids offerings. Large, with previous green lawns surrounding, a pretty gazebo, a Friends bookstore, library cafe, and lots of books and crannies rooms. A kid and teen friendly kind of place that abuts a park. Love this location, considering I have a kid: it's in a park. Near the Zoo with 2 playgrounds and swings in walking distance plus picnic tables and American River trails right there...not to mention all the BOOKS CDs DVDs and computer stations inside!! But really they have a ton of programs and extras above and beyond just checking out new books for 3 weeks at a time. We love this place on cold days and hot ones alike! It's a lovely little library, it looks like they have a lot of nice books. But they really need to keep an eye on the homeless that wander in there. A disheveled looking man with a thousand yard stare and smelled horrible was pacing back and forth around the library for hours. He wasn't doing anything destructive... but he was definitely unwell. A lot of kids come to this library, and the fact that homeless can just wander into the library is a bit unsettling. read more

This is a very nice library! I normally go to the one closest to my house, but even after their update it is dreary. However this library is dreamy! A bit confusing to enter. So many doors leading to so many places. But once inside it is nicely laid out. Private study rooms with a door for those dreaded group projects. Multiple information desks (on the kids wing and in the adults wing). Yes, multiple wings for your brains to fly, friends! They have a cafe attached as well as the Friends of the Library store where you can purchase used books for low cost and the money goes right back into the library. Self check out holds only two kiosks, but the lovely librarians are quick and friendly should you need to have a human check your books out for you. I'm steady planning my next trip out to the 'burns to give this library another visit! read more

I've been coming to the Folsom Public Library for some time now to see some of my speech clients for services and I can't get over how nice this library is! Not only do they have ample parking in the lot and on the surrounding streets, there is a cafe on site that serves up tasty, simple food (Einstein Cafe). They have both kid's and adult's sections of the library, lots of computers, desks, and every private study rooms that you can reserve in advance. The space is clean, well-lit, and everything a public library should be. read more

I visited this library on a hot August day to cool off a little in the late afternoon. The staff seemed helpful and there were a lot of books and media available. The building itself is nice and there was plenty of parking. The main negative I observed was the climate control. The A/C felt like it was barely running, it did NOT feel good sitting inside. I don't know if this is intentionally done to dissuade unhoused individuals from congregating but it was the warmest library I've ever been in. I did end up checking out some books but not sure if I'll use this library regularly. read more

What an interesting place. It's quite beautiful inside and outside. I actually decided to study here today because it was the closest library waiting for someone that needed a ride home. It was a great spot to study instead of waiting at a Starbucks. The outside showed a modern architecture. When I first entered the first thing I saw was a lobby area that leads to a cafe, the library and meeting rooms. The Cafe had Gunther ice cream, coffee and other things you need to snack on. Once you enter the library main area, you first see these tables that reminded me of a lounging area at Starbucks. The only thing is that if you decide to sit in this area, there are no plugs for your laptop. When you enter the book area, you can find various areas in the library where they have those desks that give that semi cubical feel. The desks all each have a plug outlet for your laptop. The library's environment reminds me of an entrance to a family doctor's office or maybe like going to the dentist, but with a mix of that Starbucks feel. Or maybe it can be like a Barnes and Noble Bookstore. It feels like it. That's as best as how I can describe it. The outside is also beautiful. There is a beautiful park that has a nice Gazebo and right near by is the Folsom Zoo too. I also saw a movable miniature train that kids can ride. A great place to hang out with the family. It's not part of the Sacramento Public Library System. At least if they are, I didnt find them on the directory under Sacramento Public Library. They also have Free WIFI. Two Group Study rooms. The bathrooms were clean. I can now definitely say that it does look like a book store in the entrance area. I hope I didnt fail to mention important things. This Library is so comfortable, I almost felt like crawling in the corner and fall asleep. NOPE wont do that.....I need to get cracking and study for my Exam. I'm really impressed. This library is beautiful and wish I could come here more often but it is not near my home at all. Too bad....Im getting attached to this place. read more

This library makes my heart sing. We recently moved here from a large metro area that had gorgeous libraries (even the regional ones were lovely) and great online services. I don't live in Folsom, but in a nearby area, and was allowed to get a library card in Folsom. This library is gorgeous - new, great selection for both kids and adults, and has great programs as well. I have read SO MUCH since we've moved thanks to Folsom Library and my kids have attended Story Time, Lego time, and also played in their fabulous play area. I can borrow e-books from Sacramento's collection as well, so I can always find what I'm looking for. What a gem! read more

Came in here today for some quiet time and sadly had to deal with some loud talkers. I asked the lady at the information desk if there was anything she can do, and said "This is a library." After about 20 minutes she came in and asked the people to quiet down. Then the library manager comes up to me and asked if I used profanity. I was like Whattt? Um. No. I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service.I'm temporarily in the area, and every time I've visited have had a good experience. Apparently according to the library manager people can talk in the library, and it's ok to ask someone who is trying to study crazy questions. Alright --so it's like a free coffee shop. Need a book? Save money and borrow one from the library! Really love coming to Folsom Public Library! You can access your account online and reserve books to get out. The people here are super friendly and I usually find what I'm looking for. The library itself is family friendly, there is a children's area, a teen area and adult books everywhere! Love being able to reserve the books online and pick them up when they're ready. You can also renew books online as well. The only thing is that I wish this library was closer to my house!!! I have not been inside this library in years. I am an avid reader and I have had a very difficult time finding a few books so I decided to check in there. In just a few minutes, I came out with a library card (first one since childhood) and one of my desired titles was ordered from another library. I also plan to check out the electronic version of some books that are no longer in print. Getting a library card was very short and sweet. I turned in my application and was immediately given my card. I also received an email confirmation with a link to their site. They also have computers available for guests, a book store full of used titles and a cafeteria, though I did not go in and check it out. All of the staff I met were very personable, caring and helpful. It just made me wonder why I have stayed away for so long. read more

My kids and I enjoy going to this library! We visit it quite often! They have adventure kits free of charge including gold panning, disc golf, star gazing, juggling, hiking, and more. They have board games that you can check out free of charge also. They have a great selection of books! They also have fun events throughout the year! I highly recommend this library! read more

Great space! I visited to buy books at the Friends of the Folsom Library semi-annual used book sale. The building is modern, clean, and located in a beautiful park. I'll definitely return. Whoever the supervisors and managers are of this library need to take a serious chill pill. I came in here this afternoon wanting to quietly resolve a $17 library fine. And some lady comes out and publicly berates me about it, which is totally unnecessary. Especially when we've been unsuccessfully trying to call/come in and resolve the issue. It's not about the fine. It's about a person's manner and approach, especially to patrons of the library. Could really use some work there... read more

This is such a lovely and quaint library. I travel for work often and occasionally get some work done on this side of town next to library. During my downtime, I pop in over here and take a peek at the latest books out. Or catch up on work before my long drive begins again. Folsom has one of the best small libraries I have seen. Things that make it great are: 1 - you can order from the greater Sacramento area libraries and they ship it to you. I don;t even browse the books anymore, I just order books, CDs, DVDs (did you know you can get DVDs from the library?) and you get an email saying "it's here, pick it up!" 2 - it's clean. I have been to libraries with homeless people, creepy people and who knows what else just hanging out. I guess Folsom is nice enough that "those" folks have somewhere else to go. So you can actually sit and relax at the library without having to worry about your kids being approached by the weirdos. 3 - they have a whole wing dedicated to the kids section. My kids love it! There is a pretty big "small tots" area, with picture books and big sturdy books they can eat, then, there is a very large "tween and teen" area with gobs of both fiction (lots of chapter books and classics) and non-fiction (remember, the kids reading at the library today will be the Facebook clone app creators of tomorrow). Although I have never attended, they have movies monthly for the kids. 4 - There are computers you can sign up to use (if you don;t have a computer at home, I suppose), lots of study areas and a fascinating reading rooms with magazines on the shelf and a fireplace (which I have wondered about since they opened). The only downsides are: A - the staff are kind of bitchy. Yes, I wrote that. I don't know what it is with their attitudes, but they could use an adjustment. They seem put out that they have to help you. B - there are phenomenal meeting rooms that the city will not open up for people to use. They are reserved for the bourgeois and they only get used a few times a month, it seems. Kind of a waste of tax dollars. So, go check out your library! It's awesome! read more

I really enjoy this library, the employees are always very helpful and it's kept clean. The hours are great if you are trying to study. Parking can be pretty full depending on what event is going on near by but there is overflow parking down near the baseball field. read more

My four year old and I are regulars here! It's a new-ish building, so it's fairly nice and very clean and un-smelly! There's a few perks here that I think make this library more desirable than some other libraries I've been to in the past: -The close proximity to the park -Einstein cafe (see my review!) -Self-check out (Love that because I have a librarian phobia--I'm weird, I know!) -Clean bathrooms -Nice rotunda with a water feature On the negative side, parking can get hairy--esp. during story time when it seems every mom and her baby in Folsom shows up! Also, I have to mention that I lost my wallet here once and I went to talk to a librarian and she could not have been any less helpful(!) I came back with my husband and all of a sudden she magically cared more--even taking my info in case it surfaced! (I ended up finding it, no thanks to any staff there!) read more

I dig this library. I especially love it during the Summer when FREE live musical performances occur in front of the building. There's a nice selection of books and DVDs, as well as plenty of public computers for use. My only complaint is that some library staff members are reluctant to help, whether it be looking up a book title/author or answering a question. :( In the mood for a coffee, sandwich, ice cream, etc.? I should start by saying my review of this library is mostly applicable to the review of the environment as it relates to studying. I am not speaking to the book selection. I have been searching for a good study area in Folsom and within the general area. I have been to a few other libraries in and around Sacramento area and the Folsom library is one of my favorites. Folsom's library is very spacious, has plenty of seating for studying, and study rooms for groups with whiteboards. There are no shortages of outlets to be able to charge a computer or charge a phone. The adult and children's areas are opposite. My main reason for four stars instead of five is because occasionally you can hear the children in the other area. However, the library has great children's activities if that is what you are looking for too. Overall, the environment is really clean and a pleasant place to be despite hours of studying needing to be accomplished. If you want a study break, there are tables and chairs outside with nice views to get outdoors. read more

Really nice library. I especially like their huge lawn area and the giant gazebo. The lobby of the library is circular as you pass by the cafe and the book store before you hit the library. The layout of the library is very intuitive and I like how fast their WiFi is. Study carrels line the windows with ample outlets for everyone (I'm charging my phone as I type on my laptop). It is a smaller than other libraries but definitely a gem. Their two study rooms looked quite nice as well. read more

The Folsom library has a great selection of books for children, teens, and adults alike. They also have many computers available to use, audio books, CDs and movies, etc. They often host small reading related events, story times, and more. There is a cafe and small used book shop inside the same building too. The library is affiliated with the Sacramento Library system, so they can get access to almost any book you can think of through their library exchange program, you just need to be patient to wait for the book to come in. I will say, though, that there are often many kids in the library, and it gets a bit loud and crazy for a library. I still love the place, and am glad to have such a great library in our town! The Folsom library is a great place to spend a rainy afternoon. read more

Although not a huge library it is beautiful with tons of natural light surrounded by nature (and the zoo). They also have a cafe- with very tempting ice cream! Outside is a beautiful large gazebo with lots of grass (sometimes wild turkey) and a veterans memorial. The bookstore is neat- they have a bunch of books & some movies for sale for a few dollars each! The Folsom libraries other positive attributes include; great study rooms, a fireplace room, computers and very friendly librarians! read more

I love the newly, renovated Folsom Librbary (actually located on Stafford St), but whatever. Has huge windows, lots of cushy chairs to read, study and lounge on. It's very peaceful and quiet, well except for when Folsom Zoo choo choo train goes by. Also, features a cafe and a bookstore, which is a plus. And I like the fact that the library is open seven days a week and late. Totally convienent for people like me that have crazy schedules! read more

I came back to give it another shot...knocking it down a star. This place isn't a library its a coffee shop with no coffee. Too loud even with headphones/earplugs. A baby was crying for at least ten minutes before it died of neglect in that place. read more

For years, I visited the Fair Oaks library, but had to finally stop going because it got too loud there. The last and final time I went there, they had out a beer pong table (minus the beer) with teenagers cheering each other loudly. And in one corner, a permanent video game station where you could hear the noises coming from the game. That drove me to this library, which is actually better! The library is set up for both quiet and noise, without the two bothering each other. For noisy patrons, they have a kid's section, private rooms, and the outdoors. For quiet patrons, like me, they have a separate reading room plus plenty of open seating throughout. One time a mother brought her noisy kids to the quiet section and the librarian informed her that the kid's section would be better for her kids to play. When I saw that, I knew I found my library. Oh, and they also sell Gunther's Ice Cream at the attached Einstein Café. :) read more
