My first time on Jessup University's campus for the National Day of Prayer. The staff was very friendly, helpful, professional, and provided direction to us as first timers. We had the opportunity to hear from the interim president, Bishop Parnell Lovelace, and other leaders in the faith and marketplace communities in the region. I received my undergraduate degree from Jessup (Bachelor's of Psychology) last year and agreed to enter their MACP (masters degree program) shortly after despite having little faith in this "University". The 2 stars are calculated by a few phenomenal people here and their endless support however the Dean will not support you, hear you, nor will she see you as more than a dollar sign. In addition to her lack of compassion and competence there are two other "professors" employed by this "Christian-based" business model who have no business stepping foot in the roles they are gifted. Several instances the instructors shared that they literally obtained their curriculum the week before they were expected to offer their expertise on courses that they never even finished themselves (asking the students questions on the topics for support in class). Do not take Christian History here if you have to attend this place (Western Seminary online would be your best bet) and if you discover this review and you're already invested stay mindful and keep records of EVERYTHING. Submitting a paper you wrote that has been stored a while on your laptop/PC may be subject to an investigation. I had a paper on CBT therapy for extra credit that I never submitted before and when I finally did it was red flagged as being created by chat gpt (There was no AI when I wrote this let alone a system that legally could detect these things accurately at this time). I was academically released from my MA program due to not playing the game of meeting with board members and faculty "trials". The whole idea of 7 week courses for adults is due to scheduling, etc. I was treated like a criminal and I have no issue with mentioning this now because I know how unfair, cold, and un-Christian-like this place really is so letting it go won't help others avoid a wretchedly expensive scam that is embarrassing to the community and higher educational models. read more

Probably one of the more disappointing decisions we've made in recent times. The racism doesn't exactly rear its ugly head, but the tension is in the air. Had us fooled and blindsided. Daughter got supposedly recruited for basketball by the school program that was in complete disarray as far as discipline, coaching leadership, and staffing goes. This was not mentioned to us at the time, but the coach who recruited soon resigned for unknown reasons. The new coaching staff was aware, but had no knowledge of whom our daughter was. Please!........for your child's mental health and wellbeing..........do your research before accepting a spot in this school. They do an amazing "song and dance" job at the beginning. Then they switch in ways you wouldn't normally expect. Education may be of some quality......... but being miserable while being educated can have some horrible effects on the student. read more

I'm not saying the experience I had at William Jessup is one I couldn't have at other universities, but to say Jessup changed the course of my life is the most drastic understatement I've ever made. When I graduated high school I went straight into the local community college. That first year my family went through some major turmoil, I struggled with relationships and work and my mindset completely disappeared from school and the importance of education. I somehow failed out of community college. The brand new president of the university, and then CFO of the school were family friends and heard about my story. I was a kid without a school, working a part-time dead-end job with nowhere to go. Despite my 1.70 GPA, the president of the university decided he wanted to give me a chance, and told me he believed Jessup had the tools, resources and people who could help me get back on track. Fast forward three years, and I graduated with a 3.25 GPA and earned my bachelor degree. Jessup provided me with great professors, who I maintain friendships with to this day, mentors who helped guide me and build my faith, and friends, who I'm closer with now, than anyone I've ever been with. The education was excellent, it deepened my faith, and the required internship component of my degree helped to boost my resume and send me out in the real world with a great chance of landing a full-time job, which I did almost immediately upon graduating. Your first thought may be that it's too expensive, like many private schools all over the country, but when you walk through the process and see the amount of financial aid that is available to students, and compare that with rankings and value, it is easy to see how Jessup can be an instrumental place in the success and building of the next generation of leaders, whether you're a Christian or not. read more

hi-ya! So I wasn't here for any education and I didn't even realize this was a college...let alone what it was all about. We came for a martial art tourney that was here and found ourselves parking in the gravel area in the back because of limited parking...but the facilities is really nice. The feel, the ease of getting around and the newness was grade A. The bathrooms were clean and the gym area--or main auditorium for events was spacious and easily navigated. Plenty of seating and it was easy to get up and see the events. Exiting was easy too, not crazy u-turns or random one way areas...just easy peasy and back on main roads. read more

I am a Sophmore at WJU and I couldn't be happier. I've been pleased with the content, the teachers, and the overall experience. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time. The 7-week classes and the flexibility with my schedule have allowed me to go back to school in my 30s while still working full time and raising my children. The teachers are compassionate and the fact that it is Christ-centered is one of the primary reasons I was drawn to WJU. My success coach, Aiyana has been amazing and super responsive. The other depts. I have communicated with have shown the same care and attention. The University is a little more costly but in my opinion, it's worth every penny. I hope my business degree serves me well as I transition out of my current career into the career I aspire to begin once I am done with school. read more

My time at Jessup was good overall until my last semester which was Spring 2023. I had never had such a problematic living experience in all my time at Jessup. At the start of the Spring 2023 semester, two girls were placed into the apartment I was in since some of the girls in the apartment had graduated in Fall 2022. Everything was fine at first but then it started becoming problematic when I started to smell weed in the apartment which I reported. Some time later I caught boys staying overnight in my apartment a few times which I also reported. I had never reported so many times in my time at Jessup. The apartment I was in was a relatively peaceful apartment until those two girls showed up. I spoke with the RA'S and the RD but hardly anything was done. The RA'S and RD need more training because it doesn't seem like they know what to do when it comes to confrontations. When I told the RD about one of the problems I was having with one of the girls he told me to basically let it go because "she's just trying to graduate" which makes no sense because if you're "just trying to graduate" wouldn't you be trying NOT to get in trouble? At one point, after reporting so many times, I was told by the RD to just talk to them myself as if that's a good idea. I shouldn't have to talk to them since it's not my job to, it's the RA's and RD's job. After I told an RA and the RD that I didn't feel safe talking to the girls by myself (just to see what they would say since safety should be a priority especially if someone doesn't feel safe) all they said was "I'm sorry you feel that way" and didn't do anything to help me and just ignored me. It got to the point where I told the RD that I was fed up with living in the apartment with the two girls and that those girls needed to leave in which he said that they weren't going to go anywhere and that if someone was going to move that it would be me since he couldn't make anyone move out of the apartments. In the end, me and my roommate ended up moving apartments and the two girls stayed. All in all, living in that apartment the Spring semester of 2023 was like living in a Motel 6. I really didn't appreciate smelling weed in the apartment and also seeing random guys that didn't even go to Jessup at 4:00 and 5:00 in the morning leaving the apartment after being with the girls in their rooms doing who knows what for hours. It's really frustrating because I was paying to live in that apartment, I wasn't living there for free. It sucks that I had to go through so much stress, annoyance and frustration in my last semester. read more

One of the worst decisions in my life was to go to this school. They treat anyone who is different race, religion or mental illness like anxiety or depression as if you need to be fixed or saved. The majority of people here are conservatives white and two faced. They are so sweet and kind to your face but will be the first to talk shit behind your back. (Expecially those in student life..) They will tell you anything and everything to get you into their school and once your in you will be miserable. Just ask anyone. They make everything look great and spend the most money on preview days but every other day of the year sucks and you will be promised the work with scholarships and loans but once your in they are not there, or not as promised. The teachers are nice but the rest of the staff and office staff are rude and will look down on you if your not what they expect of a Jessup student. read more

I am about to head into my second year at Jessup and I could not be more excited! All the following still remains true to my experience here! : I am a first time freshman at WJU, majoring in Liberal Studies. I had the choice to go to many of the California Universities and state colleges, but knew that out of every where, Jessup is where I belonged. The most unique aspects of my school are it's tight-knit community and it's focus on not just a higher education, but on developing you as a well-rounded person in the image of Christ. At WJU your professors will know you and they will care about you. They check up on you in the cafeteria and will email you about any concern or encouragement. Your wing-mates and room-mates can become your best friends because of the community-styled living and activities that WJU offers. At Jessup, everyone has the chance to rise up and become a leader of some sort. Everyone here has a purpose to how our school runs. This semester I love my classes and I have really loved our chapels and student outreach opportunities. I have already been able to help clean a church for a day and serve the homeless in Downtown Sacramento. There is so much opportunity here as an individual and not as another face in the crowd fighting to be noticed, which is something I don't think you will find at many other schools. William Jessup University is a place of possibilities and I am so blessed to be apart of this Warrior family! read more

William Jessup University is an awesome college, but it's a mixed bag. They still have some refining to do to be top-tier. Good things - smaller class sizes, teachers who care, safe community, Christ-centered teaching, excellent dorms & food! Be aware - sports programs are a bit weak as money seems to be generated from music/theater performances, academic counselors give inconsistent advice, unspoken requirements for scholarships, student-run leadership promotes favoritism. Specifically - If you're not a big soulful-style singer or paying $500+ extra for Jessup's private vocal lessons, forget being a soloist in UCO. The chapel worship teams are basically hand-picked by the student leader and administrative oversight/mentoring is limited. Same thing goes for student-directed musicals as only the favored few are selected for lead roles in productions, but everyone MUST work tech to earn a theater scholarship. (JM won't tell you this upfront though, making you believe you have a fair shot.) My advice, especially if you want to graduate within 4 years, is to make sure you study the catalog to know ALL the requirements and keep a close watch on how your courses (especially any transfer units) are credited. Academic advisor turn-over is horrible and misinformation abounds; sloppy record-keeping or seemingly innocent mistakes can cause students to have to stay an additional semester (note: your CalGrant funds will be exhausted after the 4th year). Overall though, Jessup's heart is to create Christ-focused leaders. Professors genuinely care about students both personally and academically. The biblical teaching is sound and not full of a bunch twisted worldly ideals that you would get in state-run colleges. Rocklin is a beautiful bedroom community where there aren't dangerous fraternity/sorority parties or gang violence, etc. Courses provide practical knowledge and create well-rounded college graduates who are prepared to excel in their chosen field. In the end, Jessup is an excellent choice! read more

This is a review of the cafeteria - not the school or educational experience. For that matter, Yelp needs to also catagorize the Jessup cafeteria under restaurants. Went there for lunch, fantastic experience. On the cheap, tons of great food buffet style. Easy for the vegan or the gluten free diet. I had the portabello mushroom fajitas, some farm to fork salads and a yummy warm n fresh chocolate chip cookie for dessert. This is likely the last place one would think of for lunch or dinner if not a William Jessup student, but needs to be on the "go there" list. The best school by far. Where else can you go for university where the President and VPs make a note to remember you and your name. Where else can you go and casually hang out with your professors. We even set up a weekly luncheon with a couple profs and students. I learned so much here and really enjoyed going to school. The complete atmosphere is so much more positive than anywhere else I have gone. read more

This is a really amazing college to go to! Every professor is kind and supportive, and at this school I really feel as if everyone is rooting for me to succeed. The FOOD is the best food you will ever eat. There are so many options, you will never leave dissatisfied. After an entire year of eating there, I never got bored. The great thing is that the restaurant is open to outsiders so you can bring in friends and family or just anyone from the community can come in and enjoy it! read more

If any institution of learning puts Christ at the center of their facilities then they will be blessed and such is what you see at WJU. I am a student there and that is the reality on campus. If you want to go to a beacon of light in this dark world to receive an excellent education of higher learning and walk daily with Jesus, this is the school. The very presence of God is here. Learn yes,but learn along side Christian warriors. Staff are professional and very efficient. Teachers,instructors and professors are engaged and well equipped, and subjects and campus life is truly alive and maybe one of the most warm and inviting places I have seen. Hey Robert from the below review, I completely disagree and feel like you insulted the institution. If you want to make a change I believe you should take an active role in that change. It might be progressive to plug in to some music or find a quieter place because there is plenty of room. It might not be the quietest library but it is extremely helpful and the staff, I believe, do their best to manage it. The 24/7 hours though I too think would benefit the school as a whole. Robert, I do enjoy your willingness to have an open mind, and while I will agree that there are some people who don't take the library expectation of relative silence seriously, it is crass of you to degrade them as devolved beings not capable of change. Your point might be more highly regarded if your intentional use of vocabulary was more sensitively chosen. read more

Being as that I am a prospect college student, I visited the campus twice, once for a preview day, and once for a scholarship interview. In terms of food, COLLEGE food, even, Jessup tops the line with an amazing buffet three meals a day. I have yet to have a disatisfactory meal on campus. The staff and facility are too of the line, and make a point to remember not just your name, but you as a person. As one of the fastest growing private schools in the state, sports and education have become top of the line. One review made a point of the tuition. It does indeed seem rip-off high. However, jessup statistically has covered 3-4 times as much money as the cal grant for EACH STUDENT. No other college does that! As of right now, it would be cheaper for me to go to Jessup than even a CSU! Plus, the average student debt is about $10,000 LESS than a CSU upon graduation! With the amazing Christian education you can't get from a public college, William Jessup University definitely runs at the forefront of my college choices! read more

This is a perfect example of a school that has teacher that may care and know who you are because of the size of the classes and school, but is the same o university money trap for students. Come to our school, where you are worship, and get a chrisitan education, while we charge you an arm and a leg to get your training so when you get out into the real world you are struggling to pay your loans because think about most jobs in ministry wont allow you to support a family and pay loans .. you will be in our prayers though so you might overcome :P Ya right ! money hungry ! read more

Having hired some Jessup grads versus grads from the UC/CSU system, this difference became immediately obvious from the interview through the first year of employment.
