The amount of work that the owner and studio staff put in to keep this place running smoothly is insane! There are a huge number of dancers, and the fact they can coordinate all of the competitions, activities, shows, information, etc. just shows how important this all is to the studio. The teachers are professional and there are so many options for helping your child further their passion and development. The competition teams have bonding nights and activities throughout the season to build relationships and connection and it shows in how the dancers all treat each other. Overall it has been a wonderful experience being part of PDC!

The teachers are nice but quite young. We like it because it's very close to our home and they have an extremely forgiving makeup class policy. Also, we love the cute dances they have the kids do. But, 5-stars because their makeup policy is EXTREMELY generous, which is great when you have a two-year-old. This is a good place for children to have fun and obtain social exposure.

But our youngest LOVES this place. I have to say, during Covid and a particularly challenging time, they did everything they could to provide dance instructions while also being responsible members of the community and keeping everyone safe. It could not have been easy but EAD consistently improvised and found ways to keep dance going. It would have been easy to just throw up your hands and open fully despite health orders and frankly, if that had happened, we wouldn't have felt comfortable going. As it was, they made the experience both fun and safe at a time we really needed an outlet for our daughter. I can't thank them enough and I could not recommend this place more to people. The dance instruction is inclusive and accessible and celebrates the desire to dance regardless of skill level. I've always felt comfortable sending my daughters here.

We have only Dance albeit briefly at one other studio, but the amount of rehearsal time prior to the studios "It's Showtime" production in the spring is incomparable for a non-competitive studio and it shows! Such a professional production! My little dancers really fee like stars. The only thing that drives me crazy is that in May the usual dance schedule gets thrown out the window and a new schedule is implemented and it can conflict with other commitments. It's a pain, but it really is worth it in the end.

Especially if she's asking little kids that kind of shit!! And if the owner wants to know who it is, I'm happy to tell her, just not going to put someone's name on blast on Yelp

In the midst of a pandemic, I was really glad to see Zoom classes offered and signed up with low expectations; I was just hoping to find my daughter an outlet for her energy. Ms. Aria and Ms. Christine remembered us even though we were gone for a while and my daughter was quickly put into the right class level. 4 days later, we received the Zoom invitation for her first class. Ms. Aria offers the Pre-Ballet 1 & 2 class to on-site in an outdoors setting (plenty of water breaks) and Zoom students, and I am impressed at her effort and attention to both on-site and her Zoom students as they are, after all, young children. After the first class on a tablet, our family experimented with our zoom learning space and eventually settled on projecting to the wall-mounted TV with a blue tape on the carpet to keep our kid within camera view, so Ms. Aria can monitor my daughter's progress more easily. By the end of second class, my daughter has revisited the old ballet positions and learned new ones, all from the comfort of our living room (aka zoom learning space). I am really glad we signed up for Zoom ballet classes. My daughter was so excited for her second class this week she was all dressed and ready to go an hour before class. Many thanks to Ms. Aria for making this possible.

While I wasn't impressed with the ballroom dance studio, I do quite enjoy Genovia Dance. Here is the dance schedule as of July 2024: Wed 7 PM - Beginner Salsa Wed 8 PM - Intermediate Salsa (progressive class) Fri 7 PM - Beginner Salsa Fri 8 PM - Beginning/Intermediate Bachata (progressive class) Only $5 per class. What a bargain and a gift! Cash is preferred. No credit card transactions. So close to home for me too. I don't have drive all the way to Sacramento. I love Elliott's easy listening music selection, which include bachata cover versions of pop music in English, like Ed Sheeran's "Shivers", John Legend's "All of Me", and Sam Smith's "How Do You Sleep?" All my favorites! I've only been to the Friday classes twice so far. So far, I've seen the beginner salsa class cover the Basic Step, Side Basic, Front Basic, Back Basic, and Right Turn. If he sees that you have had salsa classes before or you can follow and you're lucky enough to get to dance with him, he will lead you into other moves, like the Left Turn. He will give you tips on finetuning your technique, which I found super cool. He sometimes will lead two followers at the same time, one with each hand. Some students could feel insecure getting personally corrected, but you normally have to pay for private lessons for feedback like that. The beginner salsa class needs more leaders, so please show up, men! Women can lead too. I tried leading last week. You are also allowed to bring and pair up with your own partner for the entire class if you prefer, so couples, come learn and dance! You can work on both your relationship and dance connection. The intermediate bachata class is a progressive class that begins the first week of every month. I worry that I slowed class down joining the 2nd week, but I am following well enough according to some of the leaders. We haven't managed to cover new material the 2nd and 3rd weeks, but it is a somewhat tricky routine with the back-to-back Turkish towel move and grapevine ronde counts. It'll be a rush to the finish in Week 4, but hopefully, we learn and add on the new patterns first, instead of review. The dance routine and patterns we're learning are graceful and beautiful. I was always afraid bachata would be too sexy and romantic a dance for me, but I really like it. I think I confused it with lambada....I've watched "Dirty Dancing" too many times! After class, Elliott offers private lessons. He can teach Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Rueda, Hustle, and Kizomba. I've been taking dance lessons on and off throughout life. I get frustrated with the creepy leaders, poor instruction, or dance snobs, but for the first time in a long time and for the first time since moving to the Sacramento area, I am actually excited about going to dance class! Thanks so much, Elliott :-) I was so happy you smiled when I entered class last week.

"Word up" about buying tickets: do NOT buy the floor (white) seats UNLESS you can get the front row. The seats behind the very front row have NO view, and the people in front of you in this section who used their cell phones to record ABOVE their heads blocked our view even further. We were straining our necks, and bobbing left and right just to to try to see a few kiddos in each of the performances. It was further frustrating to be additionally blocked by these people in front of us who were holding their cell phones up above their heads. Why are people so thoughtless? The director CLEARLY stated "no cell phone recording", but these people felt entitled to do as they pleased and to heck with those of us behind them . What a great dance school, and WOW, such talented kiddos! We'll return again, but we'll make sure to book better seats for sure next time.
