6-8th grade. If you have another option, take it. Discipline is a problem and there is no follow through or real solutions. If your child is unfortunate enough to be bullied, there is nothing you can do except threaten to get the police involved. Recently, a student was attacked by another student and required 30 stitches to his forehead. They have added additional security which should be a red flag that there are serious safety issues, clearly this addition is not enough. Students are given 'in school detention' so attendance funds aren't lost. My child has been injured on numerous occasions and the VP will explain away the assaulter's actions to avoid suspension or expulsion (no attendance funds). The band instruments have been abused and destroyed by non-band students allowed to run around between classes with no expectation of good behavior or supervision from the current band teacher. When my other children attended this school they encountered teachers who were verbally abusive and foul mouthed, the only solution was to have them moved out of those classes. If you encounter a problem with your child, I suggest calling a meeting with the Principal and her supervisor, otherwise you will be spinning your wheels. The school spent the entire month testing and prepping the students for a state test, not much else, our kids do not get graded on this non-sense which only benefits the school district. I expect the remainder of the year to be filled with 'activities' of no educational value like movies and busy work. I will be spending the summer catching my child up to only be slowed down again next year, unless my child is fortunate enough to get the few teachers that are capable of so much more than what this disappointing facility can offer.
