We contacted Artscape and from the get-go, Ben responded promptly. Ben asked us to fill out a landscape needs/wants questionnaire which provided him with a general idea of our vision. My wife wanted more of a succulent dominant landscape whereas I wanted more color and plant textures. Ben spent a considerable time incorporating our thoughts into a cohesive plan and a landscape design to fit our topography and climate. This was a dynamic process with a lot of communication. With our budget in mind, Ben provided alternative plant choices and explained the reasoning in a thoughtful, kind, and professional manner. Ben is an excellent communicator and designer. Once we agreed on the plan, Oscar and Melvin completed the installation. They were always on time, worked tirelessly and surpassed our expectations of professionalism. We received status updates at each milestone and were informed on what work was to take place leading to the next milestone. During the install, they found some leaks in our irrigation system and fixed the leaks. Oscar went above and beyond to help us find and install a modern sprinkler monitoring system which is working wonderfully. We love our new front landscape and updated backyard landscape. Even our neighbors have remarked how much they love looking at the new landscape! We highly recommend Artscape! Ben's leadership and creativity in the design are unsurpassed, and Oscar and Melvin's plan execution produced a beautiful landscape which we will enjoy for years to come.

On a project of this scale, finding a contractor you can genuinely trust to deliver top-tier build quality without cutting corners is rare, but Edgar and his team delivered on every front. They managed to execute the job efficiently and move fast without ever making the work feel rushed. Edgar approaches every aspect of the build with a true "measure twice, cut once" mentality, ensuring every detail was carefully thought out well before the concrete was poured. What truly sets Edgar apart from other contractors is his transparency and client-first mindset. Rather than making unilateral calls or pushing options that benefit his own bottom line, he presented every decision with clear options and thoughtful pros and cons. He never nickel-and-dimed small adjustments or weaponized formal change orders just to inflate the bill. Additionally, his crew was exceptionally professional, courteous, and respectful. As a landlord managing a property with tenants on-site, this was invaluable. While many contractors disregard tenants because they aren't the paying client, Edgar's crew treated everyone on the property with complete respect and care. Platinum Paving offers remarkably competitive pricing, but more importantly, the value and quality of their craftsmanship far exceed the rate they charge. If you have a large-scale project, especially on a rental or multi-unit property, do yourself a favor and get a quote from Platinum Paving before making a final decision. I highly recommend them!

This was a big investment for us, and he took the time to answer questions, work within our budget, offer alternatives, and give thoughtful recommendations when we were unsure about certain decisions. Substandard design and substandard installation…read more I contacted Standard Design Group to replace the 3/4" crushed rock that had washed away from my parking strip. I was thinking of using epoxy-stabilized gravel. I had other matching rock in the front yard. I expected to use something smaller per the epoxy maker's recommendations. Alan, Standard Design Group's designer, recommended using 3/4" crushed rock so it would match the pathway through the center of the front yard. This was terrible advice. Epoxy-coated rock is much darker than uncoated rock, so matching the size was irrelevant. The epoxy-coated 3/4" rock has enormous spaces between the rocks that trap trash and leaves and allow weeds, wildflowers, and the neighboring palm trees to germinate in them. Weeding the porous structure is very difficult. Pulling the wildflowers has broken loose large chunks of the epoxy-coated rock. Small chunks and individual rocks are breaking free from foot traffic. Alan never visited the site. He underestimated the amount of epoxy required. The installation crew's foreman was going to leave patches of the rock uncoated. When I saw it and told him that it was not what I expected, he had the workers mix some of the already coated and curing rock with the dusty, uncoated rock. This resulted in weak bonding with even larger spaces between the rocks. There were still uncoated patches left. I contacted Standard Design Group by email after the installation and again after chunks of rock began breaking free. I did not receive a response.

We discussed what we wanted and he also gave us some helpful opinions on what would look good on our property. Later on, Bryce sent us a detailed quote of the artificial grass that we wanted to put in and the drought tolerant plants that we wanted in the backyard and frontyard. Once we agreed on the scope of work, we signed the contract and scheduled with Bryce when they would start the work. On the first day of work, they sent like 6-8 guys to demo the backyard! They were very punctual and worked really hard! By day 3, they were about 90% done with our project! Throughout the entire process, Bryce did an excellent job with keeping us informed of the progress via text. He was very responsive and answered any questions that we had in a timely fashion. He was also super knowledgeable about plants! At the end of the project, we did a final walkthrough of the frontyard and backyard, and the artificial grass, drought tolerant plants, and pea gravel looked perfect! We also had some drip irrigation installed that worked perfectly! All in all, working with Bryce and his team was a 10/10 experience, would hire them again for any future landscaping projects!

We recently had our driveway and side yard (about 600 square feet of pavers) completed by Black…read moreDiamond, and we couldn't be happier with the result. The finished project is beautiful, and our project lead, Gasim G., was responsible, accountable, and fully committed to every promise he made. Although Black Diamond's bid was the highest of the four onsite estimates we received, we chose them because they provided the most detailed proposal, a firm written commitment, and a strong, verifiable reputation. Looking back, we are thrilled with that decision. One thing I learned during this project is that proper ground preparation accounts for at least 80% of the work and complexity required to build a durable paver driveway that can support vehicle traffic. Even the highest-quality pavers cannot compensate for a poorly prepared foundation. Black Diamond removed our cracked concrete driveway and excavated a significant amount of soil. To our surprise, we discovered that the previous concrete contractor had cut corners and skipped proper ground preparation entirely. Black Diamond installed a thick base of gravel and sand, then carefully compacted and leveled the area before laying the pavers. Once the foundation was properly built, the paver installation itself was relatively straightforward. As with any construction project, unexpected challenges arose along the way. Gasim kept us informed with daily updates and managed the project as if it were his own home. He paid close attention to underground gas lines during excavation, designed a solution to route water from our downspouts through an underground drain pipe before installation, and carefully addressed tree roots, the side-gate transition, and connections to our existing landscaping. The crew even removed random buried metal debris they uncovered during excavation. These issues could have caused significant problems down the road if they had not been handled properly. We also struggled to choose the right hardscape ground cover to transition between our existing Italian cypress trees and the new pavers. Gasim went above and beyond by visiting several rockery suppliers and bringing back five different material samples for us to compare. The final result looks fantastic and ties everything together beautifully. The entire process--from contract signing to payment scheduling--was streamlined through an easy-to-use online system. Black Diamond was professional, organized, transparent, and committed to delivering exactly what they promised. We highly recommend Gasim and Black Diamond to anyone considering a paver, driveway, or landscaping project.

Scott oversaw the construction from start to finish. He was very attentive and obviously cared about and was fully invested in the success of the project. I am constantly smiling at the plants Scott suggested. They are thriving, and I wouldn't change a thing. The crew was respectful, clean and did a beautiful job. It was a long project, but Pacific Outdoor kept their initial timeline. Our main reason for going with Pacific Outdoor was that they were a one-stop shop. They could do everything. They truly delivered, and it is better than we ever imagined! It was so easy to look at their choices and select what we wanted. They had a wide variety of design choices. They didn't quit until the project was finished to our satisfaction. The design process was easy and affordable, and Jonathan was on site every day. He was communicative, thoughtful, and paid attention to the little details throughout the project. The whole crew was great to have around and kept everything clean at the end of each day. They even did a thorough final cleanup of the windows and doors around the yard. What we appreciated most was that their care didn't stop once the project was finished. They came back to fix a faulty sprinkler head and later trenched along the grass by the deck when we realized skunks were trying to get underneath.
