The portions are HUGE and can definitely be shared between two people. They use beef pastrami in the Milanese, I double checked since I don't eat pork. Theres a lot of space in the restaurant/convenience store to eat indoors but I took my sandwich to go near the park. Was this the best sandwich I've ever had? No. Was it a very very good sandwich for the cost of $16 that filled me up for lunch and again for dinner? Yes. The portions are generous and the ingredients are fresh. Also the cannolis, 3 of them for around $14 a lil pricey but very tasty. I liked how dense and flavorful the cream was. A place with over 1000 reviews and 5 stars?!?! I knew I had to give this place a try. I finally found a time to make the trip all the way to SF just for this sandwich, so I had some very high expectations. I was able to order ahead online, so it was ready for pickup when I arrived. The inside is half sandwich shop half market, and they sell a lot of cool item! I got the mafioso sandwich and added the spicy spread upon reading many reviews. The sandwich was pack full of meat and veggies, all on a nice dutch crunch loaf. I will say, this was a veryyy good sandwich but there were a few things that just made it not worth 5 stars imo. The first was that the bread itself was actually a little stiff and didn't taste super fresh, so it was a little hard to chew. Additionally, the sandwich was $20 after everything which I really think is just a little ridiculous. The balance of flavors in the sandwich was wonderful, however, and I did enjoy it a lot. I came here with some friends to pick up sandwiches before heading over to Dolores Park. It's a cute place inside, pretty spacious as well so you have some space to sit down. I got the Speciale Sandwich and it was sooooo tasty. It reminded me of the sandwiches in Europe that were simple but were packed with the flavor. Definitely get it spicy! The owner Jalal was so incredibly kind/hospitable and even gave us a few things to sample. He was so helpful. We got it with the natural original cola in the fridge called MoleCola which I absolutely loved as well!!! There's some kind of peppers in the case that are stuffed with cheese and prosciutto. Decided to stop by for their great sections for sandwiches in the bay and there's a little supermarket inside it. They serve sandwiches, pizza, coffee, pastries. We got the Milanese Sandwich with Dutch crunch bread because of the basil pesto. You could taste how fresh the ingredients were when you take a bite of the sandwich. They also hollow out the bread, so the ratios are very good between bread, meats, veggies, and condiments. We also tried their domadas (spelling-???) and their meatballs, also very tasty! The cannoli's are made in house, all other desserts are from an outside vendor. Even though we were stuffed, we had no problems polishing off the cannoli! In addition to the deli and dessert sections, you'll also find a mini Italian Market, we walked from our hotel, so didn't get anything, but next time we plan to try some of their olive oils and other items. I was able to eat it for lunch and dinner and it was only ~$13. The mafioso was my favorite - it had such good quality meats - turkey , prosciutto, and bacon. Surprisingly though my favorite part was actually the mixed greens and seasoning of the sandwich. The vegetables had such a nice vinegar taste that really stood out in the sandwich, which I loved! The sandwich was so well flavored with their sauce, but it wasn't overly saucy at all (an issue many sandwiches tend to have). I definitely recommend getting the mafioso!
