At first, the rustic decor, amazing aroma and friendly staff make it feel like a treasure trove to a cheeseoholic such as myself, but unfortunately that initial excitement quickly turns into disappointment. Granted, the staff are very knowledgeable about cheese, but they are less skilled at the practical side of their job, such as cutting a slice anywhere near to the weight specified by their customer or adding up prices correctly. Adding this to the rather high prices to begin with, leaves one's wallet in severe danger of starvation.

When you come out you not only know you have the cheese that you went in wanting, but you also feel slightly more enlightened than before. The main reason for my continious visits are the sandwiches that they sell, put simply they are amazing - so popular that John's now purchase them to sell in their bar at lunch time!! They are sandwhiches made from the highest quality ingredients fresh just a little earlier that day. Both hot and cold sandwhiches are avaliable.

They have this really confusing ordering system if you want take away vs eat in which regulars seem to have down pat. Everything is extremely expensive . Eg. Ella's baby food - deli £2.38- boots in the village £1.10. Tea cakes 80p - near bakery 60p. They have a nice warm fire and an assortment of kids books and toys which is nice. The outdoor area looks like it would be fun for the kids when it's open. You can't book tables and are encouraged to share when it's busy. Look. It's ok. Not Much competition if you want to sit down in the village for a coffee and a chat or if you want to buy particular groceries. However the coffee could be better, the array of food could be better, the signage or use of space could be better and you have to be prepared to be sitting with some truely pretentious people.

He even growns his own herbs and salads in the deli's back garden so you don't get fresher than that! Why not join the queue for one of their lunchtime sandwiches, stuffed to the brim, a frothy capuccino and perhaps one of Drew's meltingly good chocolate brownies and enjoy it down by the river across the road whilst deciding what to purchase to take home.
