We parked our car, then started to look around to see where to eat, and I found Limon right on the other side of the street. Lucky me! Limon has been on my "go-to" list! Good for a hot day - stimulating appetite. Sea Bream was generously big, crispy outside and super juicy inside! Simple yet perfect seasonings. Squeezing fresh lemon perfected the flavor. Israeli salad is a bit under-seasoned (for my liking), but nice aroma with plenty of herbs. Lamb Shish Kabob was also generous, a lot of large chunky meat cubes are cooked to perfect medium rare. Food: 4 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 4 Stars Fill Factor: Stuffed My partner has been having cravings for hummus (yeah don't ask me) in recent weeks so after doing some research Limon came up as a place she wanted to try. Well we just so happened to be in the neighbourhood recently so we paid a visit so we can cross it off our list. The quick and dirty is that the food is pretty good but the wait times for our food really detracted from the experience. The first thing you notice when you are near the restaurant is the amount of seating they have outside and the weather was beautiful the day we visited so the outside patio was packed. Walking inside we were promptly seated with menus and water arriving shortly. There was a lot of seating indoors and the space seemed clean and nicely decorated though nothing really stood out to me. One thing to note is that due to how busy the restaurant was when we went, it was extremely loud so if you do not like noisy restaurants definitely pay attention to how busy it is. Moving onto the most important part which is the food, the selection on their menu is fair with enough variety to suit different tastes but not enough items to make it seem like a big life decision. Myself and my partner ended up ordering a variety of items starting with some shareables of hummus (of course), fried eggplant, and falafels while for the main we ordered the chicken shish kebob which came with a choice of salad (we added 2 dollars for our option). The portion size for the shareables were definitely good for the two of us and I would say for an appetizer it should be big enough for 3-4 people. My favourite item were the falafels as the texture and taste were really good. Our least favourite was the hummus which we found to be a bit watery. The biggest issue we had with our visit was how long it took for us to receive our main. We took our time enjoying our appetizers as we assumed we may have to pack some of it to go once the main dishes arrived but after an hour our main dish had still not arrived. By then we had finished all the appetizers and did not want to wait any longer. We ended up asking the waiter to pack our main to go which took another 10-15 minutes before it finally came. It was such a shame we didn't get to enjoy the main at the restaurant as it was really good but I had to save most of it for the next day which definitely was not as good as freshly made. Aside from the blemish of our main taking forever to arrive we did enjoy our meal at Limon. We hope to be back but maybe pick a time when it's not as busy. read more

This is an excellent place to stop for falafels and hummus. Falafels had the perfect squish-to-crunch ratio, and the flavour was superb. Pita was light and fluffy. Eggplant and pepper dish was fresh and healthy (unlike their baba ganoush which contains mayonnaise). The beets were tangy and well seasoned. Hummus, a small order of falafels, beets, and eggplant was too much for 2 people for lunch so we brought the rest home and enjoyed it the next day! I was out for a celebration with a special friend of mine and the server who attended us was extremely rude and had no smile when he came towards us, where as he smiled and greeted every other customers. I was torn on how to rate Limon. We had lunch on a Monday, based on a recommendation from family members who had had a great experience here previously. The food was terrific and the portion sizes were quite generous, however the service was very lacklustre. First, the food - the sandwiches were very large. The lamb kefta pita had two large kefta pieces on a big fluffy pita - delicious. The baba ghanouj and hummus were yummy - the hummus was sesame-forward, and beautifully presented. Extra pitas for dipping were served hot. The service - mediocre. As a party of 5, including one toddler, we were shown to a table for four. We had to grab a fifth chair on our own. We were never offered a booster seat for our toddler. It took a while for menus to arrive. Our server rarely checked in on us. I honestly couldn't figure if he was pretending not to be able to understand my father's accent as he asked to add the order of hummus and one pita, or if he truly could not understand (my father was being quite clear). Only when our server came to present us with the bill did he become friendly. Been here a few times and one of the best middle eastern restaurants in Toronto. I for sure enjoy it much more than Tabule! And to be right by the beaches, absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend getting a bunch of their house-made dips to start. Some must-orders are the humus (believe me, it's way better than any humus you've tasted short of going to the middle east), the labne is perfectly tart and creamy, and the babaganoush is creamy and smokey. The fried eggplant dip was also quite good with big chunks of eggplant, but I think I prefer the others. Order a few of their freshly baked pita to go with the dips and you almost have a meal on its own! For mains we've had the grilled whole sea bass, chicken schnitzel, grilled rainbow trout, lamb kefta (daily special), lamb kabobs (daily special). They are all delicious! I did find the lamb kefta slightly dry at the time, but the flavours were on point. Personally, their fish is absolutely killer. The grill it so that it has a crispy exterior with a moist interior. Each main comes with a side, definitely try the freekeh which according to google, is made of young, green grains of durum wheat. It has a nice texture and flavour to it, and even if you don't like rice, you'd enjoy this. The fries come out hot and crispy. The Limon Salad is a nice refreshing side. Steamed rice was a little plain, but I guess it's good for those looking for a simpler, less salty/greasy option. Drinks are reasonably priced with a good variety. Service is great, attentive, and very friendly. So glad this place is close to us, as we've already been a few times and have never been disappointed yet. Limon, located in the Beaches neighbourhood, serves great Middle Eastern (mostly Israeli) food with generous portion sizes. The menu includes classic Middle Eastern / Israeli dishes such as falafels (either as a plate or in pita sandwich), various mezze dips (hummus, babbaganoush, tahini), salatim, kebabs, and different types of fish. We ordered 2 salads (Limon Salad and Israeli Salad), and these came in ginormous portions (just like all their other dishes). One of them came with pomegranate dressing, and the other came with lemon vinaigrette dressing. Both salads were fresh, crisp, had good mixture of vegetables, and the dressings were delectable. The Arnabeet (Fried Cauliflower) was my favourite dish - the cauliflower was flash fried and not breaded, so it had some charred marks while still retaining its fresh cauliflower taste. It came with labneh, radish, red onion, scallion, sesame seeds, sumac, and tomato. Very yummy and healthy! When you first look at the Falafel Pita Sandwich from the outside, you might think that it's stuffed with 2, or maybe 3 large falafels. But you dig deeper and realize that it actually contains 6 or 7 large, crispy falafels. Even half of a sandwich could fill you up! It also contains Israeli salad, amba, hummus, tahni, and zhug. In addition to the vegan and vegetarian dishes, we also tried 2 of the fish offerings - Oven-Roasted Rainbow Trout and Roasted Whole Sea Bream. Each one came with pita, mixed pickles, and choice of sides. The house mixed pickles were mostly cabbage with some carrots and cucumber. For the sides, we selected Freekeh Majadra (freekeh, lentils, and crispy onions) for both fish. If you've never tried freekeh before, you should try it! It has a bit of a nutty taste and somewhat chewy texture, like a cross between bulgur and barley. The flavour of the Freekeh Majadra was bomb, especially combined with the lentils. Very flavourful. The crispy onions on top added a nice crunch to every bite. This was another favourite of mine from Limon. The fish themselves were excellent as well. The fact that they were both roasted meant minimal oil and we could taste the freshness of the fish and delicous flavours. Not to mention that they were big-sized fish... one order could feed 2 people. We didn't order any dessert, but they offer classic Middle Eastern desserts / sweets such as baklava, halva, and saffron cake. read more

What a great restaurant! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I had a fantastic lunch and will certainly be back this summer. Next time, I'd like to try their sea bream with salad. Make sure to try Burrata salad. It's great for sharing and it tastes amazing. As a suggestion, their menu would benefit from adding fresh lemonade (not a slushy and not from a bottle/can) and freshly squeezed juice (e.g. pomegranate, grapefruit, orange). When it comes to seafood on the menu, it is not clear whether rainbow trout, sea bream, and salmon are farmed or wild. I don't like to eat farmed fish. I'm sure there are people out there who also prefer wild fish only. It would be helpful to know whether seafood items on the menu are wild or farmed. A hidden gem! The food: The best hummus in town in my humble opinion. You get a $8 appetizer plate but it's big enough to share with people. If you're gluten-intolerant, I highly recommend trying their in-house gluten-free wrap. The service: Amazing service each time I visit. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable about each of the dishes. After my 2nd visit and knowing that my partner is gluten-intolerant, the staff recalled right away and was happy to accommodate. I had the lamb chops (3 small pieces) which come with mixed pickles, pita, and 1 side (I chose the limon salad) $26.00. I chose add on of zhug sauce +$0.50. The grilled lamb chops were good but nothing exceptional. The limon salad was unique and tasty. I ate the grilled lamb chops with the pita, mixed pickles and zhug sauce. I also tried the fries which were actually spiced home fries. I found these to be extremely dry and and wouldn't recommend this. Overall their main is ok for a Middle Eastern place. For the price, I wish their meats would come with some sauce (instead of charging extra for them) and at least two sides instead of one, so you can get a carb and some veg. While indoor eating is closed they offer their menu for take out as well as an assortment of desserts, snacks, seasonings, sauces and wine (a tiny market). I ordered the falafel pita and my partner the steak sandwich. The food had just the right amount of seasoning, not too dry (especially the falafel) and was plentiful (we definitely could have shared). We opted to eat on the go, which to be honest was quite messy. Thankfully the person who had taken our order saw us outside and brought us napkins. Forgotten about for 15 mins straight before we decided to call them up to get our order in. The food presentation was great. Flavor was not bad overall. The fried cauliflower was nice but not salted enough to balance out the sour yogurt it came with. Both beef and lamb were pretty chewy even though they were cooked medium rate. I had to swallow some big pieces whole because I was too tired of chewing. The waiter never checked on us once for the whole evening and we were there for almost 2 hours. We even had to flag them down for the bill. Didn't ask if we wanted to split the bill and just gave it to the only guy we had in the group. Interesting. A lot of 2 people tables, so you'll be lucky if they have a table of 4 or more. In terms of food, it was good. The salmon was decent with a nice crisp skin. Limon salad was refreshing. The schnitzel was okay but a bit dry. However, the home fries were very well seasoned and delicious! Our friends enjoyed their food as well. Dips for apps were delicious, pitas for $1 to dip. The price does reflect the size and quantity of food - we didn't expect so much, but that's a nice surprise. Service was okay but seems to have lost or behind in our orders as we were waiting for quite a long time to get our food. Don't think the kitchen was ready for a full scale night of patrons as the table after us got their food before us. Overall it was good place to try but wouldn't be my go to middle eastern food. Nothing special or different to be unique. But, decent food if you're around the area and want to grab a bite - you just might be a waiting a bit. read more

Went here for lunch. Everything was delicious and the service excellent. The Squash soup was very good. 10/10. A hint of something different in it. Falafel sandwich (because I wasn't too hungry) was huge, made to order and one of the best I've ever eaten. I've eaten many. 10/10 I thought it was a side order of the Limon Salad but it was full size. Again, this was a delicious, totally different tasting salad. 10/10 Probably one of the best new restaurants around. Limon is an absolute GEM of a restaurant, and a much-needed representative of such ethnic cuisine in the Beaches. I am SO glad they decided to open shop on Queen East a few short years ago, and it seems so are the local residents, as it can get very packed. The price:quality ratio is incredible- they could easily price their dishes 15-20% higher and I'd still feel I were getting a steal for the quality and portion size. Portions are truly significant, most things easily enough for two hungries to share. Also love the vibe/aesthetic, and service is always friendly & attentive. Good tunes always playing, too. Some of my favs are the chicken (both white + dark) skewers, the fried cauliflower, their incredible hummus & falafel (both the best I've had in the city), the steak and/or schnitzel on baguette, and so, so, so, much more- their deserts are absolutely to die for!!!
