Alpha science is a great place for SAT prep. They have a nice location near Stater Bros.,…read moreStarbucks, McDonald's, and more. There's one day a week to take a practice test, and the rest of the days are used to review the test and teach concepts and skills in Reading, Writing, and Math. Because of this, there's only four days of class instead of five like at other places, and its great to have a day off. Michael only requires us to memorize around 50 words a week instead of the redundant 50 words a day at other places. This is not only less work for the students, but also makes it easier to actually understand and know the words. He explains reading and writing problems pretty well and cares about the students' progress. Mr. Hsu is a real math master and while he can be hard to understand at times, it is really impressive to watch him fill up the chalkboard with a plethora of numbers and arrows in a matter of seconds. For whatever reason, the math class goes by faster than the other classes, so theres always extra time, time that Mr. Hsu uses to give us magisterial advice not just about the SAT and college admissions, but also life in general. Amber and Betty are really nice, the bathrooms are clean, and they put dryer sheets up on the walls so the room smells nice. However, the thermostat is usually set at either 69 or 70 degrees, so it can get cold if youre just wearing a tshirt and shorts. Although another review said the water is bad, it really isnt. The water is decent, more like kirkland or crystal geyser.
