We had the pork belly appetizer, which was fantastic. We ordered entrees including a Greek salad with shrimp, the risotto, the steak frites, the pork schnitzel and the shrimp scampi. All of the dishes were fantastic. But the peanut butter cup was divine. We ordered one of those and a dish of ice cream and passed it around the six of us. It was a perfect end to a fabulous meal. Stopped in for lunch on a weekday and we might have hit at a time where prep was happening - the wait and service were quite slow and lacking. Not in a way that felt like we were being ignored, just forgotten from start to finish. Overall, an okay burger and not the best wedges to accompany. It's a cool concept given how close it is to Buffalo Trace as a tourist attracting, and it's in an old house that has been fixed up magnificently, but the food wasn't too special. read more

We had a wonderful first impression on our first visit. We stopped by Sunday afternoon to check out the brunch menu. Everything, absolutely everything, was fantastic. The staff, the atmosphere, the food and the beverages. We had the cheddar scallion fritters for an appetizer. The fritters were good but that poblano cream dip was out of this world. My bride had the bourbon burger cooked medium and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the pork belly benedict and they were not skimpy with the protein. I've had a lot of hollandaise sauce and Limewater's is as good or better than any I have ever had. We are looking forward to trying out the regular menu in the weeks to come... read more

Great food, great location, and very nice inside. these are the winning combinations. located on the kentucky river you can sit outside and dine with a wonderful view, or go inside and sit in a nice but nit stuffy dining room. Now as for the food, I tried the falafel. why? because it's fun to,say falafel! and tzatziki- though I'm not sure how to even say that - but it tastes good. We stopped by Limewater while in the Frankfurt area visiting. This was one of the best meals we had while in Kentucky for the weekend. Beautiful place located on the banks of the Kentucky River. Fabulous Food & Drinks - we spent a few days in Frankfort and had a very relaxing, delicious dinner. Love the online reservation process which allows you 4 choices for dining areas within the restaurant. We chose to eat on the patio. We had the best shrimp & grits I've ever had. My dinner was Halibut (cooked to perfection) and my husband had the Pork Snitchel. My 1815 beverage was amazing!!! The patio is located on the back of the building with a gorgeous view of the Kentucky River. We walked down to the river after our dinner. Things I noticed - only because I used to work in restaurants and I notice silly things. - We had to ask for salt & pepper - Our water glasses were empty for a solid 25 minutes - We were asked by the server: "Are you ready for your check?" (Rather than...Is there anything else I can get for you?") - The cane chairs would be more comfortable if there were cushions on them. (My legs stuck to them.) - Plastic greenery in some outdoor planters - so odd. Thank you for playing a huge part (amazing food & drinks) during our fun stay in Frankfort. Lovely atmosphere and decorations, even the smell of the location gives you a bit of a "Disney" feel. The service was laid back but professional, true to Kentucky's hospitality you hope to receive at this caliber of restaurant. My wife absolutely loved her Halibut, as for myself I did not enjoy the particular flavor of a dish which was quickly rectified above and beyond expectations; the 2nd dish brought out was exactly what I had hoped for. The pricing was incredibly fair and correctly priced for the area, I would even venture to say they could slightly elevate their dishes and crank up the prices, the talent is certainly there to do so. Had brunch here recently and we were really impressed. Started with Mimosas and the cheddar scallion fritters. They reminded me of a hush puppy but softer and cheesy. Highly recommend! My companion opted for the Bourbon burger and I had the Pork belly Benedict. Both were delicious! The home fries were so crispy and some of the best I've had. We ended up staying for a second Mimosa and shared the blueberry bread pudding. It was nice and we did eat it all, but nothing special. Service was attentive without being intrusive. We had high hopes for Limewater and it fell a little short. We were seated without a res which was lovely however. The interior is stunning and the patio during the summer/fall must be beautiful. Our food was good, though I wanted bolder flavors with the shrimp & grits (no andouille sausage) and for $30 it felt small. They could use larger, shallow serving pieces however the use small bowls for some of their entrees (lo menu included)? Dinner took quite a long time and everyone was apologetic, but no action. I have been going to the bourbon trail every year for about 10 years and have spent most of those trips near Bardstown and have enjoyed those restaurants for dinner. Finally stayed in Frankfort and am so glad I did - mostly because of the wonderful experience at Limewater. What an absolutely magical night. The ambiance was absolutely breathtaking. The place was almost empty since we had a later seating and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Our server was fantastic as were all the staff we met. The food though, so delicious. If you ever get the chance to try their Wellington - which was a special that night, you won't regret it. Everyone enjoyed their meals and honestly we couldn't believe how wonderful this restaurant was. I can't imagine taking a trip anywhere near Limewater and not having a meal there. read more
