I brought my daughter here a few weeks ago to see the butterflies after remembering that my son enjoyed them when he was her age. At the time my son was here (years ago), the admission was free. However, it's now $10 per person. I was a bit daunted by this because I thought $10 just to see the little butterfly greenhouse garden was a bit much... .... then after we exited the garden, we stumbled across an amazing children's outdoor play garden! I did not recall seeing this place before and my daughter was absolutely delighted! We loved it so much that we left to go pick up my son and bring him back the same day. They both spent hours playing in the dirt, with the toy food, climbing the structures, making a water fountain, playing in the tent, and so forth. Definitely worth the $10 per person for them to have that experience. We were also blown away by the fun selection of decor and children's garden toys and accessories inside the shop. The employees were super friendly and nice, too. Great spot. Will definitely be back. This place has also inspired me to consider having a garden. Maybe.

Even though we didn't see many butterflies this time, the visit was still wonderful. The greenhouse is full of beautiful flowers and the landscaping is very well done. We arrived at 7:07 and the house was locked up and empty. We sent her an email to let her know that we had arrived since that was our only method of contact that she had provided. We walked around the grounds looking to see if we could find someone outside working to no avail. Lots of boxes and other odds and ends from the wedding several days before were still strewn about. Finally called the number listed in the front window and she answered with "Hello, who is this??". I asked her about the showing and she told me "It's 7:30, you said you would be there by 6:45 and you didn't show up, so we left. You want me to send someone back out there?" I told her no, thank you and we left. If you are searching for a wedding venue, I would advise you against dealing with this place.

It was challenging to concentrate with the frigid room temp and the poorly lit room. All food and drinks were brought in by separate vendors, so there was no water or warm beverages available on site. There was an old water fountain that barely spewed water, but it looked sketchy. The location was gorgeous--both inside and out. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. Several areas were off limits to viewing, but the mansion was in great shape for being built in 1900/1910. The only downside was poor insulation. Also, after spending four hours shivering alongside my coworkers, I noticed that an employee had left an exterior door opened about 2-3 inches right outside our meeting room. Also, the chairs we sat in for eight hours were very uncomfortable. For 30-40°F outdoor temperature, this was completely unacceptable and very uncomfortable. If you have an event during the colder months, wear lots and lots of layers and bring your own food and drinks!
