We visited here with our family on a warm day in March hoping to see butterflies. One of the staff members kindly told us that the best time to see many beautiful butterflies is around mid-May, so we plan to come back then. Even though we didn't see many butterflies this time, the visit was still wonderful. The greenhouse is full of beautiful flowers and the landscaping is very well done. It's such a peaceful and relaxing place to walk around. We also bought a lemon tree, which became a lovely gift for our daughter. Highly recommend visiting. Especially after May if you want to see lots of butterflies! read more

I'm here visiting from Michigan and went to both the nursery and the Sage cafe. The nursery selection was outstanding. I'm planning to go again on my way back to Michigan. The cafe was so inviting and a great place for friends or families to meet. I like when a soup and sandwich combo is offered and that's exactly what I ordered. Their hibiscus tea was so refreshing for a summer drink. This place is definitely worth the trip! read more

I came here For the first time today for my sisters birthday. We took the kids to the butterfly garden. It was so beautiful out there, lots of flowers and vegetables to shop from and a lovely area where you can join the butterflies! There are also tons of local items for purchase. I could have shopped in there for hours. My niece wanted to buy a birthday present for her mom. She took a pumpkin and some money to the lady at the counter "Sherry." Sherry spoke to my little niece about her pumpkin purchase and treated her so sweetly. It really made the experience. More businesses need these Sherry's at their counter to interact with others. A few weeks ago I made my first visit to Wilson's and look forward to going back Sunday afternoon. I love their selection.

My husband and I were looking for a nursery and found Wilson's. Not only did we find everything we were looking for but I decided to buy herbs for an herb container garden. I had never don't this before and ask Jake quite a few questions. Not only did he answer all of my questions but he was polite about it, took his time and was very thorough. I definitely wanted to let the public know and his employers know what a helpful young man he was. So if you're at Wilson's and have any questions just ask for "Jake from State Farm." Lol read more

Went for opening day of the Butterfly greenhouse and stayed for hours just walking through the place. It's huge and stunning!! We loved the butterfly habitat - hundreds of butterflies. They will be adding more throughout the season and then will do a release end of September. We saw their cafe up front when we drove in but we spend so much time wandering around looking at the place with all they have to offer, we just ran out of time to go to the cafe. A place I look forward to returning to when we have more time. read more

First off, I want to say... Can I move in? I seriously want to live in this place! My husband and I stumbled across Wilson's on our way back and forth from the Library and kept saying.. we should stop... we should stop.. and just hadn't until 2 weekends ago. And then promptly returned this last weekend! Neither of us can get enough of this place and we know it's bound to get us in trouble. Now, I love a garden shop.. I have since I was a child. And I've been blessed to have been able to visit some pretty nice ones. But, Wilson's is, by far, one of the nicest I've ever been to! The staff are all warm, and helpful... and the selection will just blow your mind. Not to mention the sheer beauty of the displays... I could not take a bad picture in this place, it's just that beautiful! And, we happened to pop in right as the Fall Sale was going on and the Christmas Decor had just gone up.. so, despite not going in even looking for one, we found our Traditional Holiday Ornament! On the way home, we chatted excitedly about the possibilities Wilson's presented for us, each with out own plant-based interests... myself in Herb and Flower Gardening, my husband in Exotic and Functional Terrariums and Vivariums design, and us both in growing food. We were truly inspired by the selection Wilson's presented to both of us. We found things there we'd not yet found anywhere else in Kentucky... and for competitive prices! Being inspired, I started to follow Wilson's online only to discover that they hold Workshops! Now.. I want to take them all, but most of them are a tad pricey for our budget... however, a few of them are free and I discovered one being held the very next weekend. I quickly registered both Hubs and myself and we popped in just this last weekend for a "Coffee & Conversation" on Forcing and Layering Bulbs! Taught by Owner, Jennifer Wilson, this hour long presentation stretched on to a full-blown 2 hour, hands on, experience that sent us home with bulb-based homework! It was a joy to get to hear about Jennifer's background and the history of the space. We were both truly inspired by the presentation.. even my husband, who really had no interest in bulbs until attending this presentation! I honestly feel truly blessed to have found such a wealth of information packed inside such a place a beauty. This will definitely be our Nursery of choice for years to come! read more

Great selection of indoor plants! I got a watermelon peperomia recently and it was beautiful!

This is a gorgeous nursery off Connecter in Frankfort, Ky. They offer a huge selection of plants of all types. The staff is kind of friendly. It's hit or miss whether or not someone speaks to me. I mostly enjoy this place just for inspiration. They have gorgeous planting ideas. The biggest drawback is they are WILDLY overpriced. I only buy something if it's an absolute must have or hard to find. Definitely worth a stop to walk around though. read more

Through the years we have purchased many healthy plants from Wilson Nursery. This past Fall after leaving a meeting down the road I found myself admiring their beautiful mums from across the intersection. If these flowers can look so attractive from this far away then they might be just what I need to add some color to my front porch. As a previous YELP review complained, the prices are higher than what you would pay at Lowes, Wal Mart or other big box store. What the previous reviewer didn't understand is you get what you pay for. The plants at the nursery are so much healthier and flourish once you get them home. I love Wilson Nurseries. Sure, it's more expensive than the garden center at a chain store like Wal-Mart, but it's also far superior. The selection is far more impressive. The plants are healthier. And it's just a really lovely place. I often walk through the greenhouse & the outdoor spaces just for inspiration. And yes, I buy my garden supplies here. It's important to me to have high quality organic seeds & starter plants. To me, it's worth the extra expense. The cafe next door is also nice, and uses fresh ingredients from Wilson's. read more

After applying for a Management position I received a bulk mailer to attend their job fair. I immediately called the person in charge and explained I lived over 8 hours away. We spoke for a short while and he decided to set up a phone/video interview at a particular time on a particular day to do preliminary interview and if all went well then I would come out to the garden center. That interview day came and went with no contact from the interviewer at Wilson Nurseries. I called Wilson Nurseries to explain the situation and see if I could get an answer, but all I was told was that "it must have fallen through the cracks". I thought I might receive an apology email, phone call..something. What I got was an email saying I was on the schedule for the next day IN Kentucky at the job fair. This comment tells me they had no recollection of setting up my interview via phone/video. So why are there so many management positions open at Wilson Nurseries??.... Why can they not keep good help?? There is more than a pretty website when potential employment and retention is concerned. read more

I love strolling through this nursery and finding inspiration. However I feel for the prices there should be a friendlier staff. Same thing a year ago. I went into today thinking I hope they're friendlier. Nope... saw numerous employees and no one said hello, can we help you etc. the checkout person didn't even say thank you much less did you find everything alright. It even hello, how are you today? I find this just plain rude to treat a customer. Also I live in Lexington and drove here today because of selection. From now on I will hang out in Lexington at kings or Redmon's and maybe even Walmart. Most of the time they say hello and thank you.... read more

I bought a Red Bud tree in the Fall on sale and found out this Spring that it died. I called and was told that there is NO WARRANTY on plants sold on sale. I would gladly have paid full price if I had known this! I am truly disappointed! read more

My wife, kids, and I love his place. We often go without any purpose or direction and always end up with something to take home. It's beautiful, vast, smells wonderful, has everything.. I don't find the prices to be high. They have consistent sales. I do find the quality to be high, tho, and in almost all things, you get what you pay for. And to be honest, the staff is very helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. Not sure what the beef was from the single star review, but it is amazing how nice people are to you when you are nice to them. read more

Sells invasive species (Japanese honeysuckle, callery pear) without providing information to buyers about how expensive it will be to remove from your and your neighbor's yard once they take over. These species also easily escape residential areas and invade Kentucky's forests, costing millions of tax payer dollars for counties, KDNR and KYDOT to kill. While other nurseries are becoming more responsible and knowledgeable, offering beautiful alternatives to invasive plants, Wilson's has ignored customer concerns and continues to stock these harmful plants. They are knowingly harming forests, streams, wildlife including pollinators and Kentucky's natural ecosystems. They are irresponsible nurserymen and I'm really disappointed. Wilson's was recommended to us for blackberry/raspberry shrubs for our place in Henry Co and I just had to walk out. read more

Yes, they've got a great selection but prices like theirs are what you'd expect in the Hamptons or Hollywood. $100 for pyramidal boxwoods is just outright robbery. And from the attitude of the employees I'd say they're not treated fairly either. I'll be sticking to the garden center at Lowe's. read more

Made a trip to Wilson Nurseries in Frankfort yesterday and today. Kudos to Bryan (Brian?) who was VERY efficient, friendly, and informative when we went to pick up our magnolias today. The tall male cashier is also very friendly and knows the inventory. Yesterday, Dave, "the tree man" was helpful as he located exactly what I was hoping to find. The lady (blonde) working with the plants helpfully led me to my favorite, even based on my vague description. I LOVE this place! Don't forget to eat at Sage while there.
