I came here For the first time today for my sisters birthday. We took the kids to the butterfly garden. It was so beautiful out there, lots of flowers and vegetables to shop from and a lovely area where you can join the butterflies! There are also tons of local items for purchase. I could have shopped in there for hours. My niece wanted to buy a birthday present for her mom. She took a pumpkin and some money to the lady at the counter "Sherry." Sherry spoke to my little niece about her pumpkin purchase and treated her so sweetly. It really made the experience. More businesses need these Sherry's at their counter to interact with others. It was such a great experience!

Went for opening day of the Butterfly greenhouse and stayed for hours just walking through the place. It's huge and stunning!! We loved the butterfly habitat - hundreds of butterflies. They will be adding more throughout the season and then will do a release end of September. We saw their cafe up front when we drove in but we spend so much time wandering around looking at the place with all they have to offer, we just ran out of time to go to the cafe. A place I look forward to returning to when we have more time.

First off, I want to say... Can I move in? I seriously want to live in this place! My husband and I stumbled across Wilson's on our way back and forth from the Library and kept saying.. we should stop... we should stop.. and just hadn't until 2 weekends ago. And then promptly returned this last weekend! Neither of us can get enough of this place and we know it's bound to get us in trouble. Now, I love a garden shop.. I have since I was a child. And I've been blessed to have been able to visit some pretty nice ones. But, Wilson's is, by far, one of the nicest I've ever been to! The staff are all warm, and helpful... and the selection will just blow your mind. Not to mention the sheer beauty of the displays... I could not take a bad picture in this place, it's just that beautiful! And, we happened to pop in right as the Fall Sale was going on and the Christmas Decor had just gone up.. so, despite not going in even looking for one, we found our Traditional Holiday Ornament! On the way home, we chatted excitedly about the possibilities Wilson's presented for us, each with out own plant-based interests... myself in Herb and Flower Gardening, my husband in Exotic and Functional Terrariums and Vivariums design, and us both in growing food. We were truly inspired by the selection Wilson's presented to both of us. We found things there we'd not yet found anywhere else in Kentucky... and for competitive prices! Being inspired, I started to follow Wilson's online only to discover that they hold Workshops! Now.. I want to take them all, but most of them are a tad pricey for our budget... however, a few of them are free and I discovered one being held the very next weekend. I quickly registered both Hubs and myself and we popped in just this last weekend for a "Coffee & Conversation" on Forcing and Layering Bulbs! Taught by Owner, Jennifer Wilson, this hour long presentation stretched on to a full-blown 2 hour, hands on, experience that sent us home with bulb-based homework! It was a joy to get to hear about Jennifer's background and the history of the space. We were both truly inspired by the presentation.. even my husband, who really had no interest in bulbs until attending this presentation! I honestly feel truly blessed to have found such a wealth of information packed inside such a place a beauty. This will definitely be our Nursery of choice for years to come!

This is a gorgeous nursery off Connecter in Frankfort, Ky. They offer a huge selection of plants of all types. The staff is kind of friendly. It's hit or miss whether or not someone speaks to me. I mostly enjoy this place just for inspiration. They have gorgeous planting ideas. The biggest drawback is they are WILDLY overpriced. I only buy something if it's an absolute must have or hard to find. Definitely worth a stop to walk around though.

1st was for Green Eggfest. Really enjoyed ourselves, All the food they had was great. If you had a question, They would get the answer. Need to stop @ Sage restaurant next trip

    Beautiful potted plants

This place is top notch! We went for the free egg fest and could have stayed to look at the plants all day! The inside is beautiful and the wide variety is amazing! The staff is very friendly. Prices are sufficiently higher but well worth the experience. Neat little restaurant next door too! You could spend the morning at the nursery and then eat lunch next door.

It will last into January most likely, ours always do . My wife and I have been buying trees for 36 years. We have bought trees from many places. All you have to do is walk out there, find it, hold up your provided measuring stick, and look around for an employee. They'll drive over, price it for you (our six-footer was right at $100), cut it, drive it to your car, and even tie it on for you. Additionally, this location is very dog-friendly. My boyfriend and I don't often get a real tree because we usually travel for the holiday. This year we decided to get one anyway, mostly at my insistence. I was a little worried about a pre-cut tree because Thanksgiving was so early this year that I figured they'd be getting pretty dry. So yesterday, December 1st, we decided to find a place where you can cut your own. We'd done so in the past, but it has been several years. My boyfriend found Werkmeister through an older Courier Journal article. The article featured multiple places but Werkmeister seemed to be the closest on this side of the river. We prepped the car and put on terrible clothes and shoes since it was a very wet day. I then forced Matt to listen to Christmas music for the 30 minute drive to Shepherdsville. Once there, we learned that they had closed the fields for the year and only had pre-cut Fraser Firs brought in from North Carolina two weeks prior. I was definitely disappointed because we had driven all that way to avoid it. They explained that they only had the fields open Thanksgiving weekend and that a blight has hurt a lot of local tree farmers. It sounds like the fields had to be closed to keep the farm sustainable. The Fraser Firs, which do not grow in Kentucky, were beautiful and still in really fresh shape, despite having been cut and shipped two weeks prior. They had a variety of heights, but every tree was a flat rate of $60. All of them had been trimmed to have a great shape. We decided to get one anyway. Everyone there was really nice and helpful. They trimmed the bottom branches for us, gave it a fresh cut, shook it free of some of the water and loose needles, baled it, and helped us get it in the car. The service was really good. To be honest, it's unlikely we'll be back because we usually travel Thanksgiving weekend, and it's not really worth the drive for a pre-cut tree. But if you are around for Thanksgiving or live in the Shepherdsville area Werkmeister is good choice.

We did a bit of research, and decided to check out the adorable Gubser Tree Farm. We were not disappointed! We drove up to the farm, and we were immediately greeted by one of the owners, who encouraged us to grab a saw and check out the trees. There were green tags attached to the trees that were eligible to cut down ... with prices ranging from $60-$70. Anyone who's cut down their own Christmas tree knows that these are usually upwards of $100 - so this is quite a deal. The trees themselves all seemed well taken care of - and we had a hard time selecting which one we liked, since there were a few we had our eyes on. We went with a thicker tree that's around 7' tall, and it cost us $70. After we cut down the tree, the owners wrapped it up for us, and tied it to the top of our car. They were quick, friendly, and efficient. We paid for the tree inside of a little craft shop, and if we hadn't been in a bit of a hurry, we would have certainly been tempted by the homemade zucchini bread. All in all, it's safe to say a visit to Gubser Tree Farm is going to become our new holiday tradition!

The greenhouse itself is a working greenhouse and while customers come to this location, one must understand that the business of growing and maintaining healthy plants will be happening all around you. The walking surface is crushed stone, so it is not like walking in a regular store. The majority of the spring flowers go fast right around Memorial Day and Kentucky Derby weekends. This greenhouse appears to deal primarily with Proven Winners merchandise. As such, you can be assured a robust and healthy plant specimen from good genetics. Pricing seemed a little high, especially for perennials. This may be Proven Winners MSRP and not necessarily controlled by the family business. This would be my go to for a greenhouse in the Harrodsburg area. They also have a small amusement park for school aged children, that is open during certain days and hours. I don't know much about it, but from the road, the rides look clean, newer and well maintained. We do not have children so it has not been part of our experience. Daynabrook has a number of "pop up" satellite locations to service your flower needs as well. This is a family run business and therefore, I prefer to shop at such places. Parking is ample on a stone lot, off of a quiet road. The greenhouse also borders the highway, making it an easily accessible location.
