I didn't get on it immediately partly because of my schedule and health, also because beneficial critters need somewhere to live and I personally don't like suburban neighborhoods cosplaying as golf courses. But the smaller trees were being crowded out and the march of the ball moss continued and it was just time. C and his brother ran late for the original consult but everything else was perfect. Polite, enthusiastic even though they work on some huge old heritage trees--BIG jobs for big names--and this was just a little cluttered lot, a day's work for a team when they usually require two. It was important to me when he said "this is what we love doing, going in and saving trees [for the long term]." The day of? Smooth as glass. Missed one small thing on the list but did at least two others that weren't requested for the price quote. They cleaned up after themselves, they worked around circumstances, and they did that under their own steam because I was out of commission with a severe migraine. Stump from the sizable cedar they removed? What stump? No tripping hazards here, and no possum picnic table kind of stump like another removal company left in my neighbor's yard. It felt great hiring local, the price was fair, and we're happy with the results.

I have found out that he is back working in town, so I wanted to warn people against hiring him. He showed up after 5:00 pm each of the days? Nights? he worked. He used flashlights and flood lights and would work really late. It was dangerous and each time I said something he said he would start earlier - never happened. It took many days to finish and he asked for money often even though we had agreed of what would be up front and what would pay upon completion. It wasn't until the weather warmed up that I discovered he had stolen by HVAC unit and many other tools. Beware of Christopher Childress, owner of Groovy.

DAMAGED MY ROOF & SIDING WHILE CLAIMING TO HAVE INSURANCE!!!…read more Chris of Groovy Tree Services caused major damage to my rental property and left me to finish the repairs myself, all while claiming to be insured. Before I hired him he assured me he had insurance but after the tree crushed the side of my house but he would never give it to me despite my repeated requests. Chris tried doing the repairs to the roof and siding himself but did a subpar job. I had to end up paying my roofer to redo what he did (not only did he use the wrong shingles but he drove nails through the top of them). I tried repeatedly to get a hold of him but he stopped answering after he found out I had to have a roofer redo his repair attempt . I am going to have to hire someone to redo the siding he tried to fix as he did it wrong and a painter to come out and finish the job. Not only did Chris leave me with damage to my property (all while claiming to have insurance) but he never showed up when he said he would and asked for money twice before the job was done. Lessons learned: Don't just go off Google reviews, get proof of insurance and call the insurance company to verify they paid their premium.
