Representing 2020 in alphabet series, L is for Lima's Chicken. I moved to Russett in western Anne Arundel County in November 2020. I went here a few times in the first year living in Russett including in November 2020 as it was just up the road to Hanover. My parents & I enjoyed the chicken at the time when they visited the week of Thanksgiving. Their chicken was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. It's no Don Pollo, Sardi's, or others, but it does the good and was convenient at times. The last time I went to Lima's was in October 2024. It was Friday, 10/11/24. I had a Poker night at an acquaintance's place in Arundel Mills area, and this was on the way. I wanted to eat beforehand as I wasn't sure what the food situation was going to be. Ultimately, Lima's kind of pissed me off. I was asking about trying samples of a couple of the sides (as I didn't remember; it had been maybe 2 years since I went), and there was a language barrier, where I had to repeat, which was frustrating. I ate in the restaurant. Cashier was unfriendly, and I realized they charged me 10 cents for the Anne Arundel County's stupid bag tax, or maybe it was Lima's just wanting to charge the fee. It was complete laziness on their part to not ask me whether I was eating in the restaurant or taking it to go. I know it's only 10 cents, but it's the principle of it. False advertising with prices . They advertise one price then when I get to the register the price goes up by 1 dollar . When I asked for my money back the person didn't want to give me the 1 dollar back despite the price discrepancy. It's not my fault as a customer you didn't up date your signs to reflect the accurate price and now I will never return back to your establishment because you want to bait and switch on prices at the register read more

The service was absolutely ridiculous and terrible from the manager. How are you an immigrant and racist at the same time? That makes absolutely no sense to me. A request for sauce was made during the placing of the order and was not fulfilled. The manager stated "WE ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO TELL YOU THAT THERE IS A CHARGE". What in the world kind of nonsense is this? Dude... it's 1 dollar! lol you went all racist over a DOLLAR? It was as simple as anywhere else that charges for condiments... This is my favorite Peruvian chicken I've ever had. This place always hits the spot. Can't wait till the next time I'm there.

I came here for the first time because I was curious about the food. I reviewed the menu before arriving, so I decided on a burrito bowl. When I arrived it was just okay. It was kind of dimly lit inside, but the ordering station had lighting that was decent enough to see what I was ordering. I walked in and was not greeted, so I basically stated that I wanted to order a burrito bowl. The staff member looked at me opposed to directly asking what I wanted in the bowl. I started naming the usual items (rice, black beans, corn, salsa, peppers and onlons etc, but since they only had the chicken burrito bowl listed on the in-house menu, I stated that I only wanted a veggie bowl. The cashier at the other end of the station stated that veggie bowls are the same price as those with meat. He added that I could add some roasted vegetables instead. I never asked about pricing, but I guess I understood why he said it, but not how he said it. Everything here seems to be extra and by extra, I mean nickle and diming extra. The guacamole was almost $4.00 in addition to a bowl that was already almost $14.00, which is insane. The service was a no for me and was pretty much non-existent. However, the burrito bowl was unexpectedly exceptional. The flavors were impeccable. I was amazed from the first bite that the flavors exceeded my expectations. I only added salsa verde to the bowl and that was more than enough. I am used to Chipotle bowls in which the salad dressing/sauce always kicks up the flavor several notches, but Lima's bowl did not need anything because the flavors were already prominent and available in every bite. I am not interested in eating here again, but the taste of that burrito bowl might make me reconsider. read more

Delicious! I stopped in for a quick pick-up, and it was a great choice. The inside of the restaurant was just okay--pretty dated look. The service was friendly and efficient, and I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. bluf: lima's chicken offers Peruvian style dishes and combo meals reminiscent to a KFC (but much better). Lima's offers a pretty wide selection on their menu ranging from chicken options (dark/white meat, cut of the meat, etc) to burritos and other dishes. I usually opt for the combo meal because it feels like a great deal with tons of food (it's a whole chicken + 3 sides + a 2L soda which you can swap for a small side). The taste is awesome. I've been coming here for a while and I feel like the taste of the food has changed in the last 3 years or so. It's a bit different, but not necessarily in a bad way, so I can still recommend them for their yummy food. Their sit-down area is kind of fast-food like. There's not really any service involved after ordering your food, so it's not really a sit-down restaurant situation. They're also a good candidate for carry-out/doordash if that's what you're looking for. Love the spot and they also have a few locations scattered across the DMV area, which in my experience has varied in terms of flavor/experience, so just keep that in mind. read more

Overall- awesome food for the price, well-balanced and delicious food, great sauces, kind service, and a casual ambiance The chicken is always juicy, fresh, hot, and falling off the bone with excellent flavor. We love their fries, yucca fries, platanos, veggies, and fried rice. If I could purchase the green sauce by the gallon, I would. The napkins here can't handle the mess of the food, but it's a small price to pay for the quantity and quality you get for the price. This Lima's is one of our go-tos for dinner the past four years. (We've been to other Lima's and they aren't as good- one had completely different fries and green sauce.) We do take out or we eat in. I also love grabbing a Family Special or Lima's Special to bring to a family who just had a baby or might need a meal for something. The bathrooms are traditional- separated by men's and women's with multiple stalls in each. read more

This was my regular place to takeout Peruvian Chicken. The chicken was flavorful and moist. Their plantains are always delicious and well made. This week I went to get Peruvian chicken. The guy who took my order had a bit of an attitude. He asked what sides I wanted, I said plantains. He looked at me and asked, "another". I said plantains again and he gave me a look like I was crazy. So I said "your plantains are really good. He looked at the cashier and rolled his eyes. I got home and the chicken was all dry. The meat on the wings and the outside of the drumsticks were solid brown, dried and burnt. I really think this chicken is unsold old chicken, Refi she rated and then reheated. Something I loved about this place is how conveniently located and quicker at once. The staff was extremely helpful, kind, and fast paced environment. The food was delicious and it was the best chicken I have tasted in the state. Closest thing to Peruvian season Pollo à la Brasa. If you're in town, definitely check this place out. I didn't go into this location so I will ask my husband more about it. However, I did have the food. Everything was good the chicken and rice. I did not enjoy the green beans so much but everyone's taste buds are different. I like my green beans to be a little bit more cooked and seasoned. My green beans were crunchy and bland so that's the only thing that I would recommend. The sauces were pretty good as well. I haven't been inside this place in years but I'm sure that it's still pretty clean and the customer service is good but I will have to follow up with my husband to get more information read more

I moved here this week and the ordered 3 entrees. The pollo Saltado was really overcooked I couldn't eat much of the dried out chicken. The flautas that I ordered the creama and tasted sour and the meal was very wet. The quarter dark chicken was dry and didn't seem fresh. I love, love, love their flavors. Amazing, piquant, fresh. Especially the steamed veggies! I was sorely disappointed by how tiny my 1/4 chicken was today. In the past, a thigh- drumstick combo would be enough alone, without the veg. Today, it was the size of a Cornish Game Hen. Sad panda. The drive through is efficient & staff so friendly. Actually wanted to give 2 1/2 stars, so it is rounded up. We visited here several years back and since we were in the area, decided to stop in. It looks the same. The Peruvian chicken fragrance met us at the door, we were excited. The menu was posted and I ordered the chicken tacos, you get 3 double shells (about6") heated in a grill of sorts similar to a panini press. The young man added some chicken that was precut, no specific means of measurement. Then the toppings, displayed in a typical cooler case. Any toppings you want. At the end I asked for sour cream, ok, he ladeled out this white runny stuff, it had to be the sour cream that was diluted beyond recognition. A big minus there. You get Pico de Gallo sauce, I asked for it in a cup b/c a little goes a long way...upcharge of $0.75 . Their prices are very high! $10.95/ quarter chicken. My husband ordered the steak tacos, same delivery, the steak was chewy, but had good flavor. $2 more for steak. The tacos were too messy to pick up from the sour cream sauce, so we resorted to a knife and fork. I ended up breaking the fork trying to cut them up. Frustrated with the whole deal, to say the least. Good location, plenty of free parking. Paid $29 for this and a soft drink. read more

Rude, rude customer service. Every time I try to call in an order, they pretend they can't hear me and hang up over and over. I finally gave up and ordered from Sardi's who has MUCH better food and friendlier, more professional staff. The Lima's in Hanover is ghetto. Do not go there. read more

I drive past this place every day coming home from work and I am here at least once per week for takeout only. I hear the other reviews on the 50/50 shot of getting a whole chicken without a wait time. Getting a half chicken with the two sides (plantains and steamed veg) is my usual go to plate, not just for efficiency but also for best value. I've tried the yucca fries, black beans, steamed veggies, chaufa (fried rice) and the plantains. If you're in to mixing flavors, their black beans plus green sauce is a fire combo. Chicken is consistently good here and doesn't leave me feeling heavy/gross like some chicken places in the area. Interior is more of a take out vibe, will be back again for next week's quick dinner. read more

This is putrid. Me and my fiancé went to Limas for dinner. Sat down and noticed the place had roaches. when there is on there is more. Makes you wonder what's going on beyond the dining room. Hopefully the health department comes in and does an inspection. Not only the roaches, but the staff was rude toned and no smile to be found. Now I know I've had Lima's before and it wasn't THIS bad. Personally, my favorite Peruvian chicken spot is Sardi's. However, I found myself having a craving and didn't feel like going out of my way to get Sardi's. Therefore, I ended up at Lima's. I got a quarter white meat chicken with the fried rice and plantains. While I was being rung up, the cashier was too busy looking at videos on her phone and showing them to her coworker. She was literally holding my food hostage just to do this. I think that's a little unprofessional to be on your phone in front of customers, especially when you're supposed to be bagging up their order so they can go. I was very disappointed in the taste of the food. It seemed to be lacking flavor and wasn't giving me that umph that I'm used to. It was still edible but just not that great. I'll keep going out of my way to Glen Burnie or Laurel for my Sardi's. read more

First time in town, driving around the area and stumbled across the restaurant. The best places to go eat at are those that you find. I had the Nachos and I tell you what OMG. The flavors can't be described on how it made me feel. The room was clean and the music was motivating. This is worth visiting, don't take it from try it for yourself. :) read more

IMO, best Peruvian chicken closest to Columbia where I live. I haven't been here since Covid and my husband had a hankering so we came this evening for dinner. We ordered a half chicken which came with two sides ($11.95). We chose green beans and rice with black beans. I normally wouldn't choose green beans as I am particular how it's cooked. I like them more on the cooked side so it's not firm. Chicken was super moist so it must have been fresh. We only get chicken whenever we come here and have never been disappointed with the quality. March 5th we arrived at Lima's at 11:20 for food, but they refused to let us in! Their sign says they open at 10:30 and google says they open at 11:00, yet the would not even open the door. They saw me and another patron out front waiting and knocking on the doors yet they continue to prep other to go orders! This review is for this location only so I would highly recommend going to another location. I've been to several Lima's Chicken's and the food is always pretty good. Their chicken is cooked very well, their Bistec a lo pobre is good too, and their ceviche mixto is alright. The sides Lima's usually provides are delicious and substantial but if you order the ceviche, they give you one unit of their side which is disappointing in my opinion. But the service at this location is horrendous. At this location, they speak Spanish and will insult and laugh at you in front of your face in Spanish. I went with a Spanish speaker and they said very disrespectful things and when asked what they said, they played dumb and laughed more. If you can look past this, then I would say go for the food. But, the unprofessionalism at this location compared to other locations is honestly ridiculous so I would suggest trying another locations. Also other locations tend to be cleaner as well. read more

WOW! Picked up some take out , Absolutely delicious, fresh and moist chicken. You know it's good when the breast is moist, they nailed it. My favorite sides are the green beans and the plantains. The plantains were not overly greasy, maybe roasted? COVID19 social distancing and masks worn. The service was quick. Get the yellow and the green sauce. This has become one of our favorite chicken spots. We tend to stop by after we get done grocery shopping when we don't want to cook dinner. The first time we actually went in and tried to order, they don't speak great english in there so it was a little difficult ordering dishes that werent just chicken. Since then we have started ordering online and picking up in the drive thru window. Everytime we go, ww make sure to get plantains and I really like the string beans. The food was just okay. I ordered the ¼ chicken (dark meat) with fried rice and green beans. The skin and the meat touching it was so hard and tasted burnt I didn't get to enjoy that part. I got the lomo saltado. When I tell you it was one of the best lomos I've had!!!!! The steak was so juicy and flavorful. The onions and tomatoes were perfect! The rice was cooked perfectly and had the perfect amount of cilantro the yuca was soooooooooo fresh & delicious I am dreaming of them now & don't get me started on the sauces! SO FRESH!!! Update, order takeaway and order was missing items and incorrect offerings (drinks) then what they sold. I called 11 times and was unable to get through. I messaged the business who apologized and offered not to replace the missing items but a discount similar to what the offer from the coupon packs they mail to you. Also, not sure if they made it differently this time but both of our stomachs were unwell after that meal. If I hadn't already promised my family I would pick up Lina's I would have left. All the employees are just standing around behind the counter with only the guy behind the sides and the guy at the register actually working. Peruvian eats are all over the MD area, so I'm rather picky about my go-to ¼ dark chicken with two sides combo...to break it down: -The chicken, I generally don't care about the chicken. Chicken is chicken; most places will have well-seasoned-juicy charbroiled-well portioned chicken. I think it's all in the sauces. Lima's green sauce was amazing. There was a nice fresh jalapeno spicy kick, without being too creamy or watery. I put their green sauce ahead of the competition. I didn't care for the yellow sauce, I felt it was a bit too mayonnaise tasting-without enough flavor spice standing out. -The yuca fries were wonderful. Very crispy, fresh flavor, nice hearty pieces-cut perfectly. And they gave me so many! -The plantains were one of the best plantains I've had. They were so juicy! Hearty large chunks, sautéed with a great flavor, they were super delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Line went quickly, portion was a massive plate to go, and it's a very reasonable price Overall, I still love Sardi's as my number one, but Lima's is now my top number two. read more

This place used to be the best Lima's. Not anymore. Last few times I went there the chicken was on the dry side. The rice had a lot of hard pieces in it as well. There's also too much playing around behind the counter. My friend was charged for a drink he had taken in. When he explained, hey don't charge me I bought this in with me, the guy caught an attitude. Like dude how do you not know you don't sell this here? The chicken, plantains, yucca, and green beans are good. The dine in area is not well maintained. The Hispanic woman, who took my order was stingy on the condiments. I have had better Peruvian Chicken Restaurantrs in the past. They need to make the condiments accessible to all patrons. They do not understand great customer service, when in the the Good, Old, United States - treat your customers better. They are losing business with their poor customer service, and being stingy on condiments, not smart in an economic downturn. read more

When it was pretty new this place was great but it has gone down hill. Lettuce was brown, vegetables looked old like they were left over from lunch, and the chicken was the smallest poor little bird I have seen and was like jerky. This was on a Tuesday night so definitely a slow night for them but you gotta take pride in what you are serving. read more
