We've been to Límani so many times. Food quality is excellent. Since Covid occurred they put up Temporary walls between tables and it has helped so much with the acoustics. Much improved! My dilemma with Limani is how to order. The appetizers are so great that we tend to be heavy on those orders and share...often avoiding entrees. The entrees don't come with sides so you must order sides but your guests may not like certain sides. Very complex ordering...With your family it tends to work...With friends it can get tricky. Love the octopus, saganaki, eggplant chips with yogurt, tuna, and hummus to start. Then entrees I like the lupe de mer, Greek salad (tomato/cucumber), lemon potatoes and broccoli rabe. Get the yogurt and honey for dessert!! But ask the waiters for guidance. I think it's needed. No issues with the food. It's all great. read more

We came here for lunch with our friends. The restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. I had Loup de Mer or Branzino, and Hubby had salmon. We ordered octopus and tomato salad for appetizers. Our friends had Royal dorado and crab cake. Everything was up to par, except the dorado wasn't that great. My Branzino was better than dorado. Hubby's salmon was better than my Branzino. I came here on the spur of the moment based on Yelp reviews. I was able to get reservations about an hour in advance which was a surprise and a plus. I will warn you that my comments are based on a comparison to Prime restaurant in Halesite which is Huntington NY maybe 15 minutes away wish I was very impressed with that I ate at about 2 weeks prior. They set the bar and was a memorable dinner. The restaurant is located on Northern Blvd so there is not much scenery. It's a large pretty space and it's set up very well for COVID-19 both inside and out. They set up wood and plexiglass dividers that look like they were part of the design of the restaurant. The entire staff had masks on inside and out and nobody cheated worth them under the nose. Kudos to management ! Everyone was well dressed in a black and white uniform. You can see the attention to detail. It was a pretty space overall. The valets were quick and even remembered the vehicle I was driving when I gave him the ticket to pick it up. The service was excellent, as good as you could expect for the restaurant. The food was very good although I would not say memorable. There was no mention of a time limit for the table which a lot of restaurants have been doing with COVID-19. Not the waiters fault my appetizer the crab cake burger literally came out 5 minutes after I ordered it. I spent a little over 2 hours there although I found I would have liked if the appetite and main did not come out so quickly. The crab cake was very good and was fresh lump crab, 6 ounces, served with beans and dip. Nice dish. The mains were Halibut which came with mixed veg and was also very good. Very fresh and cooked and presented well. The problem was the Yellowfin tuna. The dish came out looking like It was cooked properly although it was cold. The waiter apologized, took it back and the chef made an unrecoverable mistake. He tried to heat it to get the temperature up which overcooked the tuna. The waiter apologized again and said he would have the chef cook a new dish which turned out great. The problem is when you are not eating alone anyone with you feels obligated to wait and their diner will get cold. If not everyone's eating alone. When you're spending that kind of money that should never happen. Tried the chocolatina desert which was essential a warm chocolate cake with a taste of pistachio ice cream. It was very good and the Karidopita which is walnut sponge cake, homey and pistachio ice cream. My favorite of the two. The bathrooms are clean although they are not touchless at all as my experience with Prime who was touchless and had multiple bathrooms designated for one guest. They also had a person at Prime designated to sanitize the bathroom after each use. Limani had a person for the women to open the bathroom door although none for the men. Personally I would not go back based on this experience because although it was a nice experience there are so many other restaurants in the area that offer more charm, better food and even at restaurants that charge half the price I have never had a chef try to correct a mistake by reheating the food. They would do the dish over from the start. At that level of restaurant you need to be thinking ahead all the time. TLDR: Long Island location of Limani. Awesome Greek fish, meat, anything. Killer lunch prix fixe. I had eaten at the Limani in Manhattan previously and while it was good, the one things I remembered was how pricey it was. I avoided the LI Limani for that reason until I figured to give it a try. The prix fixe menu is beyond a bargain. For $30 you're getting a solid appetizer (with all good choices), a main (supplement on only the lobster pasta) and dessert. It's a lot of really great quality food. I have never left here feeling hungry still. My go to appetizer is the octopus. Charred octopus legs come pre-sliced, a bit of capers, some vinegar, lots of thinly-sliced onions, dill, olive oil. Perfection. So tender with that charred crust. The Greek dips are good but better shared with larger groups because the bread will fill you out. Tomato salad is awesome. Those tomatoes are just ridiculously juicy and bursting with flavor. For mains, I've tried almost all the options. The one I always get though is the Loup de Mer which is a kind of Mediterranean sea bass. It will come across on some menus at lavraki. So moist and flaky in every bite. The fish also comes with a side of sautéed garlic spinach which is very welcomed. Salmon and the grilled chicken were also surprisingly tasty. For dessert, it's fun to mix up the options with a group. If you were to get only one though, it should definitely be the yogurt. It's topped with thyme honey, a slightly crumble and black cherries. The perfect way to end such a great meal. I need to come back for dinner one of these nights but since we've discovered the lunch menu. We've been here many times this year. Awesome value, tremendous quality and probably healthier than a country-style brunch. Go! PS - Probably some of the most proper safety measures I've seen at any of the restaurants I've been to. Friday night dinner at Limani. The last time I came in April I got oysters and the Pea Flower Paloma. Both were so good that I got them again! For appetizers, we got oysters, crab cake, calamari, grilled octopus, and salad for the table. I got filet mignon with a side of broccoli rabe for my dinner entree. "WE'RE NOT REQUIRED TO TELL YOU PRICES OF MENU ITEMS" Place was pretty busy for Sunday afternoon at 4pm. There were a few large parties so the place was kind of noisy and the music loud on top of it so it was hard to hear the hostess when we walked in and also the waiters on top of that. These are trying times but it almost seemed like hospitality got quarantined as the hostess seemed upset that we couldn't understand her speaking through her mask and we couldn't speak loud enough for her to hear us in return. We got sat by the bar and were just left to linger at the table for a few minutes before anyone came to greet us. No menus given, even though a couple were already sitting reading their menus. As we ate, we noticed tables around us with menus as soon as they were seated. Luckily there's a QR code on the table for a virtual menu, but no WiFi password until I went up to the host stand to ask. Even then, the hostess told me to log onto the wrong network and I was left to figure it out myself. First waiter was heading out to break so wasn't sure if he was annoyed that we sat down before the next waiter came on or he was just tired, but he didn't seem interested to take our order. 2nd waiter going forward was more attentive and checked on us a few times throughout the meal. To top it all off, when it came time for the check, I saw a higher charge than expected for the oysters we ordered. Apparently they weren't on the QR Code menu as they're a special for today, so they cost an extra $10, but we were never told. The 3rd waiter who was giving us the check asked if we looked at the menu. "We only got the QR code menu" was our answer, even though the 3 other tables around us all had laminated paper menus showing the day's specials (with prices I assume). When pressed, this 3rd waiter's answer was simply " WE'RE NOT REQUIRED TO TELL YOU PRICES OF MENU ITEMS" ... I was so surprised by that answer I didn't even know what to say for a few seconds. I know the pandemic has hurt restaurants but this is a horrible way to do business. Greek Meze is always a favorite and almost a meal by itself. The grilled Octopus had good flavor and seasoning but the meat felt either over cooked or dry. Not sure, but it was almost like it was left over from a Friday delivery and today was Sunday night...at least that's how it tasted. It was tender and juicy on my previous visits. Oysters were fresh and very large for Kumamotos so they were worth it. The best thing about this place is the parking attendants. They were fast and courteous. I was really looking forward to eating there. My boss said the food was great. I have to check him on that come Monday. The food wasn't good. Over cooked fish, so sad. No flavor at all. We had grilled octopus that was more like boiled octopus. The price for appetizers,dinner, dessert and drinks came out to 300.00 without the tip. That's fine. I don't mind paying for good food which this was not. This place was so bad I would never go back. Greek born lifelong New Yorker here. Let's start out by saying that the place is gorgeous. The ambiance is spectacular. The service is outstanding. When not overwhelmed, the valet parking does the best job possible. Reservations are honored immediately. So why am I giving it three stars? For the same reason that every time I go there, I find myself the only Greek in the restaurant. Greeks just don't go to this restaurant. Why? Because Greek food is a very simple food; and while all the ingredients here are fresh, the food is completely lacking in any soul; the kind that you'd find in any Greek mother's kitchen. Greeks won't eat this stuff. Sure, Greeks that do go here have a celebration or want to go out and splurge. But at the end of the day it's three times more expensive than going to Astoria, and if you don't get there early, parking is just as difficult. If you know how fresh fish is supposed to be cooked, and what it's supposed to taste like, tell the well dressed, indifferent young men who own the place and walk around making sure to be attentive to their well heeled patrons. I hosted a business dinner at Limani. There were four of us. Two of us were colleagues, and we emphasized that to avoid any confusion. Two were retirees -- one when asked what kept him busy answered that at his age it was enough to make it through the day. That couple, married, had selected the venue based on proximity to their home, it corresponding to his nation of origin (he came by ship as a student), and the quality. I am glad I deferred to their judgment. I would be glad to go again, though the truth is I am not often in the neighborhood. Our guest of honor selected several small dishes to share. The octopus was tender. That dish is not always as delectably soft. The zucchini chips were battered delicately. They were the best such item I have ever sampled. There were spreads with pita bread. My main dish was tuna with spinach. They have fresh fish laid out on ice. I love to see the sparkle of scales and the brilliance of the eyes. The preparation was by someone with a deft touch in timing the doneness and sprinkling on a modicum of sesame seeds. The side of spinach was exceptionally fresh. It was sautéed so as not to pass into limpness or to be too wet. I would register a minor disappointment. At Greek establishments, I look for retsina. Its distinctive flavor is caused by sealing amphorae with pine resin. That practice is not necessary, but it continues in order to impart the off taste. The "balsamic aroma" Is an acquired taste. I took to it without any cajoling, as an aficionado of stronger relishes. I had enough leftovers, since I was given the starters, for two meals. I don't know why some people eschew leftovers. They are a pleasure. They also are economical and environmentally beneficial. I suppose some worry about germs. I have never had an issue. The ambiance was upscale without being extravagant. The service was impeccable. It was not raucous. It was just lively enough to suit a party that was more mature. read more

For the past 6 or 7 years, Limani has been a staple for my family. It is among a small group of restaurants that we trust and love. The staff is welcoming and on top of everything. They get the orders correct every time and make you feel like royalty. As a result, we booked a party there in one of the rooms for this past Saturday. I communicated with Ilias who was attentive and made sure that the party was a success. The waiters and bus staff are always exemplary. Of special note are waiters, Nestor, Romel and Damian who are consummate professionals and make dining a delight. For the party we had Romel and a staff of about 3 or 4. Romel made the event - constantly checking in with me to make sure that every detail was in place. The drinks were expertly crafted, the food was superb and everyone at the party came up to me to tell me how fantastic the place is. One of my friends is even considering having her wedding reception at Limani after seeing how spectacular everything was handled and executed. Ilias made sure that I had time to set up and did not rush us out after the event was over. I can't say enough about Limani. You should try the place. You will not be disappointed. I went with my husband to celebrate our 25th year wedding anniversary and the fish I ordered was NOT COOKED and it was absolutely disgusting. The waiter recommended me to get a striped bass and it was NOT cooked, then the waiter apologized and brought it out the 2nd time, No difference, it was the same. I've been here four times and each one feels like a different place. During the daytime it's super chill and a great light menu for healthy eats. It was quiet and bright. Before 6:30pm you'll find the early birds and a prix fixe menú that was $39 (9/2018) and well worth it. Lots of wait staff, one chef even helped out at our table. Was smooth and courteous throughout. Around 7pm it was so packed and festive that it was hard to converse. We left and my ears were buzzing. My sister and I treated our parents to a special brunch. My sister had been here before and suggested it for our celebrations. We made reservations for an 11am brunch, right when they opened, and there were already people seated and eating in the restaurant when we were brought to a table. A few minutes later, the chef came around and explained how the brunch works and where to find everything. A server then came around with the complimentary drink. He didn't have the Bellini on his tray, but I requested. He must have came around when I was off getting food because a glass of champagne was placed at my seat. I drank it anyway. If looking for a bottomless brunch kind of place, move along. The restaurant is beautiful and feels spacious at first glance, but in reality, when trying to navigate through the tables, it can feel a bit labyrinthine. And as people eat more, they tend to push back a bit from the table, making it a bit harder to walk through, especially while holding the plates. In terms of brunch, they do a stellar job. I would get everything I tried again. The moussaka was great, the blonde brownie bars were spectacular, and their sushi was also surprisingly there with the best. I did enjoy a lobster, as well as a waffle, various potato, chicken and rice dishes... It truly was endless. I think I had about three plates of food. I never really understood what the fuss was about a macaron until I tried theirs (or whichever bakery they get them from). We were all full for the entire day and skipped the rest of our meals. Had to ask 4 different people for pita bread and after waiting an hour and half my fish was a failure in presentation and taste... which for a seafood restaurant is just sad... everyone has been sitting around for 20 mins done and servers don't notice to prompt for next course more concerned with the turnover of other tables than satisfying the customer currently eating. We ordered three appetizers as two were served as I had to ask where is our third as the table was cleaned off it did arrive after a few requests. As we were eating NATS we're flying over our food. Surprisingly garbage. I had pretty high expectations from all of the reviews and recommendations from my colleagues. As such an expensive fine dining restaurant with a following, one would think that either the food or service would be outstanding. But to think that neither were even to a bearable standard was a bit upsetting. For reference, I did not partake in the prix fixe set, which may lead to a differing experience. One of the appeals that Limani has is that you can choose from a variety of fresh seafood from a raw bar near the kitchen. However, none of the food that I ordered was amazingly fresh like I had hoped for. I can't say that the fish had deteriorated to the point of being spoiled, but there was an absence of the slightly sweet flavour that comes with truly fresh and high quality fish. I will concede that I came in to dine around 8PM, which I suppose may be a bit late(?), but I suppose that I was too demanding in expecting some half-decent seafood. The seared Yellow Fin Tuna was fine but not at that premium. And definitely not the Black Sea Bass for Two. The Kumamoto oysters were probably the best part of the meal, but that doesn't really require much processing, so I can't give too many points for that. Our party ordered two soups, one of which was the Astakosoupa(Lobster Bisque). The bisque was a bit watered down and tasted mostly like sea salt water, but it was still palatable. The unfortunate part was the presentation of the plate. It looked like someone threw up on the dish. The other soup was still alright, with only spotting on the edges of the plate. It really just tells me that there was no attempt made to clean it up with a towel before bringing it to the patrons. We also got a Kolokitha, which was just fried eggplant and zucchini. Nothing special. Dessert was the worst and most disappointing. It took around twenty-five minutes to send out plates that weren't heated. I had thought that the Chocolatina, described as a warm chocolate soufflé served with roasted figs and fig ice cream, would be made fresh and require a bit of time to bake, but what came out instead was a lava cake. Granted, the cake was made from chocolate, but it would take a lot to confused it with a soufflé. The baklava was uninspiring, and the Milopita wasn't anything fresh either. To sum up, if you are looking for a great meal and service for a fairly good deal, you won't find any of those qualities in Limani. But I will compliment them on their choice of decor. The lighting and furnishings are pretty on point with that of a high-end dining establishment. Looking at the raw bar is also pretty cool. read more
