I had my cousin's wedding there last night, and whilst there was potential to be good, it didn't quite live up to expectations.
The staff were friendly enough. But in terms of dealing with people with allergies, there is a lot left to be desired. When I replied to the invite, I specified that I was allergic to dairy, tomatoes and strawberries (the list is longer but I thought those would be three things most likely to make an appearance on my plate)
Entree was fine, expect for the tomato garnish, which is annoying but easy to move onto my partner's plate.
Then came main. The options was steak or chicken, which came with mashed potato (dairy) and Lily's special sauce (tomato). I was of course given the chicken. When I brought this to the attention of the waitress, she tried to interchange it with a plate with plain chicken and mash, which again I sent back. Finally my actual plate came, but this time is was again garnished with roasted tomatoes!
And just when I thought things couldn't get worse, I was served cheesecake for dessert.
I'm not generally a complainer, as I will normally just eat what is served and deal with the consequences later. But considering I specifically told them what my allergies were, it seems a bit ridiculous that all three dishes came with some form of the things I was allergic to. It's just lucky that the worse that can happen to me is an outbreak of eczema and not an anaphylactic episode. read more
