Forget the stars and hats. On a scale of one to ten, this place is an eleven. Classic Italian seafood... fishing nets and glass buoys dangling from the ceiling. I've been dining here since junior school (over 20 years) and the place (thankfully) hasn't changed one iota. The menu... atmosphere... even the staff are still the same. That kind of place you can abandon for years of adventure, then return to a wonderfully familiar comfort zone that instantly feels like home. Claude's the man. And he runs a tight ship. It's BYO, and neighbours the very well stocked Woollahra Cellars, so top up supplies are footsteps away - convenient, but dangerous once you've settled into the Nino's groove. The Seafood Mornay is a visual statement and a compulsory indulgence. A giant clam shell crammed with fresh catch... prawns... fish... mussels and an almighty hunk of lobster submerged in cheesy garlic sauce beneath a perfectly crisp crust. Whole barra is crisp skinned, juicy and meaty as it gets, commanding nothing other than a squeeze of lemon. Garlic prawns are authentic as, and pasta serves are like mountains you can't jump over (so order the entrée size). Besides, you need to save space for the Tiramisu. It's a unique take, light on cake... heavy on marscapone and as good as it gets. This place is unassuming but it's a fixture for locals in the know - packed every night of the week (except Sunday when it's shut). read more
