Finding good coffee when you're on the road can be a hit or miss proposition. Likewise was a hit. The place is interesting, a converted house with a series of pleasant room to sit and drink good coffee. Closed on Sunday, which is unfortunate, but perhaps understandable given the name. read more

I visited Likewise last week when meeting a friend in the morning. There were several reasons this fairly new coffee shop stood out to me and I wanted to share them with you. Overall it is a fantastic place to try out and I love any business that is modeled to help someone in the community. Big Wins: 1.The space out back with picnic tables and other seating that is spread out and has shade. 2. The art displayed through the house that has been done by local young artist. 3. The old house that has been converted in to this cute coffee shop. Wins to be acknowledged: 1. The cleanliness of this shop! I felt clean and bright which is really important for me when I am consuming food somewhere. 2. The fun seating all around the downstairs of the house. Neutral: The coffee. This will be a big deal for some. I could take it or leave it. I wasn't overly impressed, but still enjoyed it. I did try a latte and it was VERY sweet. If you go this route and are not crazy about how sweet latte's get, maybe ask for half the pumps of syrup. There was one reasons that I decided to give this cute place 4 stars instead of five. It has to do with how quiet the inside was. While the space it SO CUTE, it lacked any subtle noise that helps cancel out any conversations. I was having a quiet conversation and we eventually moved outside because no matter how softly we spoke, it still felt like everyone around us was easily listening in. And I also felt like I was subject to listening to others as well. If someone were to bring children, or have a group meet together if felt like the noise would quickly get out of hand. It's a simple coffee house, not to say its bad. I enjoy the lattes that I order, as well as, the breakfast croissants. I've never stayed in the house, but every time I visit, the place is clean and peaceful. Likewise Coffee has room to grow and perfect their business. If you need a place to go and work on your portfolios, set up meetings (formal/informal), work on your lines for that next date...Likewise has the room and the privacy you need. The only thing I'd like to see on the menu is something related to pumpkin spice, I work nearby, so getting my favorite flavor as fall rolls in is only possible if I purchase it elsewhere. My wife and I love this local coffeehouse. The historic home it's located in has been lovingly and beautifully restored. There's nothing different from a "high-end" coffeehouse (Starbucks), but the pretentiousness (and the high prices). So, honestly, they don't offer a huge variety of coffees and food, but they offer enough IMO. Their mission is noble, a non-profit business that raises money and awareness of human trafficking, and their employees are wonderful. The food tastes fresh and the coffee is very good. As long as we live in this area, this is our 'go-to' Saturday morning stop. read more

Likewise Coffee Shop puts East Knoxville on the map when it comes to coffee destinations. Everything is thought out from the moment you walk in the door, where you sit, and what you order. Each coffee is bought from a farms that practice ethical treatment of their worker and product. The owners, Will and Katie, as true coffee snobs in the best sense because what they serve does not disappoint. I highly recommend the cappuccino while sitting in the corner seat in the main room. Two seats overlooking the road as you sip a drink that was made just for you. The heart of the shop, of course, is caring for those who need caring. Reaching out to the vulnerable and hurting to make sure they know that some is advocating for them. Buying coffee helps you and also helps many in our own community. My first review was glowing and had multiple good experiences (brought many people here for meetings) and then the last time I was here, the barista decided to flex in a very patronizing way. Background: I was a barista for years and know how "pulling shots" works. They pull two at a time which means that if someone wants an odd number of shots, one of them either gets wasted or has to be used in someone else's drink. This is easy to do in a busy shop and there are also ways to save leftover shots for cold drinks to reduce waste. When I asked for a three-shot latte (because two isn't enough and four give me major jitters) I was told that: A. We don't do that B. We're not going to do that C. It's wasteful She proceeded to lecture me about waste and told me if I wanted more than two, she would HAVE to put the fourth in my drink. I ended up leaving without ordering. Went out of my way to patron this business even though it was further from me than other coffee shops. Also, I've been in customer service for over 15 years. You don't EVER act in a way that's intended to make someone feel foolish or ashamed. Finally, funny to lecture on waste when they're in a TO-GO business. Not my problem to find a solution to your waste problem but it is my right to order more or less shots than what's on the menu. Most experienced baristas would use the opportunity to taste the 'waste' shot in order to keep the espresso calibrated. Won't be back. read more

This has quickly become one of my favorite coffee shops which is also close to my work. I have visited here about half a dozen times over the past month, and I have not been disappointed. They have amazing cold brew and hot coffee options. I tried the gingerbread cold brew first which had a house made gingerbread syrup, and it was absolutely amazing. I also tried the peppermint mocha which is also made in house, and again amazing! The staff is very welcoming as well. One day the power went out at work, so I went to Likewise. Their power was out too, but they offered me a free hot coffee, so I drank my coffee and relaxed for a bit. The space has many options for seating while drinking your coffee, and it is a very relaxing environment too. Last but not least I also like their mission Raising A Voice. Overall I highly recommend this place, and I will be a regular for sure now that I am working next door. Check it out! read more

I have visited Likewise Coffee several times to have coffee with a friend and talk. This past weekend I reserved a room for my daughters baby shower. She loves the decor of Likewise and it was a great experience. The room was so nice. Enough room for our intimate crowd. They ran a tab for out guests and the 2 young girls working were so friendly and professional. Love using our local small businesses! So many people that attended had never heard of Likewise , so I am hoping they will visit again. read more

I LOVE THEM. The mission based coffee houses are my favorite and the atmosphere was perfect for studying or small bible studies/ coffee dates. It's many rooms made it easy to find a place to settle in and the coffee is fantastic! The people are so nice!
