You wouldn't guess it looking at me.....but I know donuts. These are some really good ones. The gal at the front was very helpful and made sure I didn't leave without getting the necessities. Haha Be sure to make a point of visiting this spot on your way in and around this cool city. This street alone is full of gems to explore, and Status Dough can give you the fuel to do it.

Variety of doughnuts including their 4 specials.

Even though they opened 25 minutes late this morning, the donuts while few were amazing. Super fresh and larger than expected. Definitely worth the wait.

Building is under construction, but they are still open. Probably seats 12 to 15 . Ordered an iced mocha, and hot latte with three donuts. Barista made good coffee, donuts were fair. Place was clean. Nothing memorable, except check out the donut prices. Nearly $3.00 for a donut is pretty pricey IMO

On a scale of documentaries to romances, Status Dough is your favorite comedy's biography. I mean, who gets this punny??? I opted to stop at Status Dough because of the reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. I went in for two donuts, and I walked out with a half dozen. We were particularly delighted by the glazed strawberry cake donut, and I was delighted by the custard-filled doughnut. The custard was some of the lightest I've had. If you love donuts and you're visiting or local to Knoxville, definitely make a point to swing by!

    Donuts!

Solid doughnuts in Knoxville. Went to Status Dough because someone said they have the best Apple Fritters in Knoxville. They were good, but I really liked the buttermilk old fashioned. Parking is all on the street so leave time to find a spot!

Hot lavender latte with beautiful foam. Artist: barista Michael!

Having worked many years in the service industry, I'm not easily moved - but the hospitality I found here today was phenomenal. My barista, Michael, was friendly, authentic, knowledgeable. I'd probably sit in a park and discuss art with him, chill fellow. Anyway, he helped me decide on my coffee, ground the beans right on the spot, frothed the milk by hand, and poured a beautiful design on top of my lavender latte I'm halfway through a 20-hour drive to my grandfather's funeral, have already been rear-ended on this trip, on top of a tumultuous past month overall - Michael's genuine positive engagement was exactly what I needed to power me through the next leg of my travels. Thank you!

Top donuts are pumpkin spice. Middle ones are coffee and the bottom ones are apple fritter and chocolate old fashioned

The Donuts's are off the chain The primary type of donut they specialize in it the old fashioned. They have several different flavors of that donut, such as buttermilk, pumpkin spice and coffee. They are very large donut's as well

A+ staff and super cute spot located right in downtown Knoxville! It was super easy to find street parking on a week morning and I enjoyed walking around with my coffee, exploring. They use Intelligentsia as their espresso roast, which I prefer over the other smaller coffee chains like La Colombe. On road trips I always try to scout out the best donuts, and I'm truly a sucker for quality old-fashioneds. When I saw Status dough had a variety of old-fashioned flavors AND good espresso, I immediately routed there. I got the coffee and chocolate covered old-fashioneds. Of the two, I'd recommend the coffee one more as it's more dense in flavor and texture. The chocolate one was weirdly lacking flavor, the donut cake was pretty dry, and I couldn't get through half of it. Wasn't worth the calories. They offer vegan donuts here and a variety of milk alternatives, including oat. It's a small place but the front area has enough seats for a couple small groups. They have cake donuts and original doughy donuts. If I came back I'd probably try the buttermilk old fashioned as it looked a lot more flavorful. If you like doughy donuts all I can tell you is they looked really fluffy and almost too perfect to eat - so maybe this place would be great for trying those! Check their menu online in advance before visiting to see what seasonal flavors they have in shop.

Apple fritter, cinnamon roll, chocolate frosted, butter cake old fashioned, and raspberry frosted (so fresh tasting!)

I love doughnuts. Doughnuts are my life. I'm having them at my wedding instead of a cake...ok so you get the picture and my obsession. These doughnuts are amazing. I mean amazingggg. They are HUGE. Super fluffy and moist. They have some fun flavors like raspberry and orange creamsicle. As well as the classics like chocolate and vanilla frosted, cinnamon rolls and classic butter cake doughnuts. I ordered a mixed half dozen and they come in a box the size of a whole dozen from those basic doughnut chains. I also carried them around for 3 days to bring them back to my family and they were still good! I can't wait to go back to Knoxville and try them allll! I wish I could have these doughnuts at my wedding, but I don't think they'll travel to Charleston for me.

    Half dozen
    Tammy F.

On my morning walk I stumbled into this little gem. I ordered four and the gentlemen promptly told me that was the magic number and that half a dozen would be the same price. Wow, very few businesses actually try to save you money so this really impressed me! He also took time to talk with me about local spots I needed to visit. I really appreciated his excellent customer service and hope he enjoyed the cash tip I left in the tip box:) donuts are huge and although they are made in another location he assured me they were fresh and they were yummy for sure. Give them a try!

One of the best donuts I've ever had!

I can't say no to a crepe so when we saw them on Yelp as a breakfast option I knew it had to be done. It's a fast casual spot so counter service but it's still a lovely experience. The woman who took our order was really nice (and particularly kind after a guy who had previously ordered pushed his way back in front of us because he had forgot to order a coffee). My husband and I both went with the Complete crepe (eggs, ham, and swiss cheese) which also came with a side of fries. We also decided to split a bananas foster crepe for a bit of sweet after our main meals. Everything we sampled was excellent. They also have a few pastries/desserts available and my husband got a croissant to go to nibble on later during our continued travels. The space is SUPER cute. There's plenty of seating and the upstairs area has a really lovely view of the space below. There are a few seats outside but they had filled up by the time we got there. I was really charmed by Knoxville in the short period of time we were there and I'd love to come back and explore more and French Market will definitely be on the list of places to revisit!

Thankful to have a reservation, we were promptly seated while others with no reservation were being told three hour wait times. I loved the vibe of Tupelo, the hanging lush green plants on the side of the bustling kitchen, the cheerful staff and the lively music. Lizette was our server and she was just a darling. It was our first time here, and she was so helpful with her all of her recommendations. One of Lizette's favorites was the "Peach, don't kill my vibe" sangria. Which I just loved. I nice mix of peach and pineapple in a sangria. For our mains, we had the grilled harvest chicken and the chicken tenders. Both mains came with two sides. With my grilled harvest chicken, I got the mashed potatoes and the braised bacon green beans. The green beans were to die for, even my hubby was saying he should've ordered that as his side. The harvest chicken I loved--especially the sautéed spinach, red peppers and tomatoes on top. But if you can't handle spicy, this dish does have some heat to it. And we ended my birthday celebration with the heavenly banana pudding. It was heavenly in every way. Made in house, and so delicious that even my hubby ate it and he never cares for this dessert. If I could've licked that little bowl, I would've. We already cannot wait to come back and try some of the brunch items on their menu. We loved everything about Tupelo and hats off to Lizette for making our night even more special!!

Not Watson's? More Like... Not Worth It…read more Sometimes in life you have to listen to that inner voice. The one that quietly nudges you in another direction. The one I ignored today when I chose Not Watson's instead of following my true spirit to the Old City for a vegan tamale that had been pressing on my psyche all morning. But I ignored it. So here we are. This happened Wednesday, March 4, 2026. I was downtown on Market Square for a business meeting. The weather was nice, I had already paid to park, and the craving for fish and chips got the best of me. Not Watson's was close, so it seemed like the logical choice. But when the vibe is off... the vibe is off. Around 1:05 PM there was a line at the door. One party of four, two additional parties of two, and then me -- the solo diner. While we were standing there waiting, two women from one of the parties asked if I was waiting on someone. When I told them no, they kindly invited me to sit with them. A thoughtful gesture. But I declined. Maybe if I had accepted, I might have received better service. Ah yes... the small pitfalls of solo dining. What made things odd was that the place didn't even appear busy. Several different servers came to the front to seat people, but there was no hostess and tables still needed to be cleaned before anyone could sit. I almost left. My instincts were already whispering, go get that tamale instead. But the pull for fish and chips was strong, so I thought, forget it -- I'll wait. When my turn finally came I was asked, "Outside? High-top? Or a table in the back?" Well damn. It felt a little like I was being strategically placed out of sight, so I chose the table in the back. Walking through the restaurant I again noticed it really wasn't busy. Then I sat. And sat. Ten minutes went by with no greeting, no water, no acknowledgment. So I did what anyone would do -- I watched the TV in front of me. At that point the urge to leave was getting stronger, but me being me thought, let me give this another second. That's when a gentleman from the kitchen came over. He introduced himself and said he noticed no one had waited on me yet and didn't want me sitting there hungry, so he took my order. He mentioned my server would come by shortly. Spoiler alert: my server never actually showed up. I later learned my server was also bartending. Eventually my food arrived -- three pieces of fish, fries, and coleslaw (which unfortunately had absolutely no flavor). By this point I was hungry, so I dug in. First problem: the fish was fried way too hard, almost burnt. Second problem: the fries were so salty they could probably raise your blood pressure on sight. But the real issue? The fish had zero taste. None. If the fish had actually tasted good, crispy or otherwise, I probably would have eaten it anyway. But this was like chewing overcooked cardboard. When the gentleman came back, I showed him the fish and he immediately saw the problem. He said he would alert the kitchen. He kindly offered a complimentary dessert (declined) and offered to have the fish and chips remade (also declined). At that point I had lost my appetite. When the check arrived, it was half-price. Now here's where the math didn't quite math. You were willing to remake the entire meal, yet I paid half price for a plate where I ate one piece of fish and a few fries, after spending most of my visit waiting to be acknowledged. So I paid my $9, left a tip, and got the heck out of there. As I was leaving he said, "Hopefully we'll get it right next time." Next time? I left just as hungry as I arrived. The only silver lining of the entire experience was remembering I had half a Butterfinger sitting in my desk drawer back at work. Now that lit me up. Unfortunately, between the awkward service, the overcooked fish, and leaving just as hungry as I came, this is one fish-and-chips stop I won't be revisiting.

Both upscale yet inviting. Note that it does feel a bit like European dining where the tables and fellow diners are very close to you and the tables are small and cozy. You hear all of their convos as well, for better or worse. :-) We ordered the scallop appetizer and for our meal, we both got the short rib pappardelle pasta and a side of the brussel sprouts to share. Our server was very kind but our orders took a very long time to come out, from drinks to the food itself. In fact, our brussels came out at the same time as the check. I will say that she recognized this issue without us saying anything and even removed the brussels from the bill preemptively. The food was delicious-especially the main course. The bolognese sauce was creamy and had a slight kick and the short rib was tender and tasty. Another odd thing is that we ordered the same exact dish but one plate visibly had almost twice the amount of food than the other, which is an odd choice if you know they are going to the same table. Other than the few service quirks, it was a wonderful experience and the food and drinks were delicious. We will be back at some point.
