Not just for the warm water and beautiful scenery but the people that come to La Mala beach, the music played by the DJ, and the delicious food all combined create an all around perfect beach. Forget St. Tropez, Ipanema, Playa del Carmen, Belize, Florida, and Hawaii. While I do love all those beaches for different reasons, and really if you're hanging at the beach, life is still pretty good no matter which one you choose to chill at, La Mala is a cut above the rest. Definitely geared towards a younger high society crowd, the vibe is still amazing. However one downfall is that there isn't sand. It's rocks. So plan on bringing your water shoes. On to all yelpers most important subject, food. Here's what my table ordered: Mixed Fruit plate: a combination of every fruit I could think of plus some fruits I didn't recognize. The presentation was nice and the fruit was refreshing under the hot sun. Actually this is the only dish I got a pic of. Pizza Magherita: any Yelper from San Francisco is probably an expert in Magherita pizzas by now. The Magherita pizza at La Reserve was the best I've had yet. Chicken Caesar Salad: I didn't try the salad but a couple of my friends did. They said it was really good. There was a lot of food (such as seafood, etc) being served to people around me that all looked Food or Travel Channel worthy. I wish life was as Lil Wayne said, but for me I'd say: "Life is La Mala beach, I'm just playing at La Reserve".

I saw that you may want to make reservations so I called and I was blanking on the word "loungers" when I called and the gentlemen asked me if I knew how to speak english while laughing so I was like okay a little sassy but was still open to trying. If youre coming from the train station its a nice little walk through a neighborhood. When you see steep steps to your left with a small la reserve de la mela business sign that looks like you might be trespassing then youve found one of the entrances! We were sat down at the loungers on the beach. Our server came up and asked if we wanted to start with a bottle of Dom Perignon which we laughed and declined. We ordered the local lager & a Chablis which were both good. We also ordered one of the pizzas which was really good. We continued drinking and enjoying the beach but there wasnt much of an atmosphere, no music :/ we wanted to get a couples massage but they only had one masseuse but I would like to note that she was the nicest person working at that establishment and so she deserves a mention. We ended up spending around $250 and wouldve spent much more if the service and atmosphere were good. At the end of our visit the server said oh theres no pin to your card I can just charge it to $500 yeah and I just laughed nervously because I was uncomfortable. Like we get it your a private beach club but ive been to private beach clubs around the world and this is one of the less desirable ones ive been to. Its tacky to bring up money so much. If there was a good product there then you wouldnt have to awkwardly push a bottle of dom perignon. Next time im in South France I will skip this place :/

Location - The location was very central and it was walkable everywhere. About 10 min from Promenade des Anglais (the main boulevard along the beach), 10 min from the train station (Nice Ville), if you want to take the SNCF to Monaco, and 20-25 min walking to Vieux Ville. There are a decent amount of restaurants in the area too. It's easy to get dropped off and picked up in a cab or Uber in this location also. Room / Hotel - The hotel itself is renovated and feels modern and new. The room was spacious for a European hotel and we had ample room. There was a safe and a refrigerator in the closet. The TV was huge and new, and very clear. The heater/thermostat didn't really work too well, so we were hot in the middle of the night and didn't sleep super well. I can't imagine this in the summer when it's even hotter. The bed was pretty comfortable but the duvet was really warm and there was no sheet, so you had to sleep with the duvet on, or nothing at all. The duvet wasn't super great at regulating body temperature so I didn't sleep that well since I kept waking up super hot and sweating. Amenities - They had a pot to boil water and make tea, and also provided 2 complimentary bottles of water which was a nice touch. They also had a nice note and some chocolates on the bed upon arrival. Bathroom - The bathroom was large and nice, and they provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion, but the shower was terrible. There was nowhere to put the shower head above you, so you had to hold the shower head with one hand and then attempt to wash your hair with your other hand. This made for very awkward and difficult showering. Not sure who designed this shower but if they were going to go through the effort of remodeling the room, the least they could have done was put something to hold the shower head. We also ran out of hot water for 10-15 min on a Monday morning and had to wait for the hot water to come back. Overall, the location of the hotel was great, the rooms were nice and remodeled but we were a little annoyed by the heater and the shower head in the bathroom, especially at the prices that they charge.

The rooms are very old and outdated. They need new carpet, furniture, and decor. The stay was fine but a bit grimmey for what is called a three star. The free WiFi was super slow even though we had a router in our room.

Very charming hotel. Fabrizio in front desk is a superstar: speaks good English, very helpful and always cheerful. Nice is such a beautiful city!

If you are planning to stay here, I'd highly recommend taking a taxi from the airport (~35 euro) or packing light. He's friendly and welcoming. I would give him 5 stars. I would've rated the hotel higher, but it is a bit of a trek to the touristy spots. In addition, the walls are thin, so you can hear everything that goes on in the room next door. Our neighbors were definitely having a lot of "fun" on our last night. Even though I knocked on their wall several times, I wasn't able to stop their late night fun. We thought our room included the breakfast buffet, unfortunately it didn't and we had a 16 euro/pp/day charge. It wasn't that we minded the charge, but the food was definitely not worth the 16 euro/day. There weren't that many choices at breakfast. The hotel provides free wifi access, although it is spotty. It is also limited to two sign-ons per room. If you have a lot of wifi devices, you'll find yourself trying to figure out which device you want to connect to the wifi. There are some other creative ways you can get online, but I'm sure other yelp reviewers are smart enough to figure it out. :) If I visited Nice again, I would probably pay the extra $ and stay at the Hotel Negresco. I do recommend this hotel if you have a rental car. Nice is car friendly and this particular hotel is located in a residential area, so there is plenty of free street parking.

Comfortable beds and pillows, well-furnished bedrooms, sparkling clean and roomy bathrooms, friendly and helpful staff (who will explain where to go and what to do)...you get the picture! About one previous review: YES this hotel is located on a hill: the plentiful photos online clearly describe that fact...and the results are outstanding - quiet neighborhood, beautiful view, and fresh air! About another previous review: YES the breakfast is 16 Euros each but (traveling around the world) the buffet here is top-tier and delicious: hot eggs, bacon, sausage, plentiful fruit and baked goods, coffee and tea, juice and milk, yogurt, salmon and prosciutto...again, you get the picture! You are in France so definitely have breakfast other places on other days but for sure check out breakfast at the hotel itself! Everything is relative - for the cost (large bedroom with garden view for about 130 Euros) and the gorgeous/comfy/calm surroundings, I would give this hotel 8 stars if it was possible!
