We worked with Lightsource to print several large and small fine art prints for art gallery shows, and for sale on our website. We usually print at home on epson velvet fine art paper, and were reluctant to outsource the printing to a vendor, because we've never had much luck with color matching, paper quality, etc. Not the case at Lightsource! Their incredibly knowledgeable staff- JP and Sam specifically- took painstaking time insuring that their prints matched our home-printed ones almost exactly, with color, quality, and paper. They worked fast, and gave us a very competitive price for the job. We sourced the job around online, and found cheap, low quality-controlled vendors, but really preferred to stay with a local business, so we could be on-press with proofs and corrections, etc. LIGHTSOURCE was the best! We will surely use them again in the future, and you should too! read more

They helped me choose the right paper for my pen and ink illustration prints, they edited-out smudges and artifacts and resized my images. I've worked with LightSource on a per-project basis for a few years now and they are terrific; super responsive and helpful with questions (I'm an interior designer not a photographer). I once had a big dream of owning a 44 inch printer and spent the past year planning a studio edition with it in mind. It became the Achilles heals with the architect on where to put the monster. We finally took it out of the equation when I started to work with LightSource, who are minutes away, and do a far better job than I will ever have patience for. I don't even do large prints that often. The idea of maintaining such a machine was no dream either, the inks would dry out, heads clogging, let along all that scary color management and I never even considered the space for all the rolls of paper (they have an amazing collection) Thank you LightSource. Just finished getting 11 of my original watercolors digitally photographed by the amazing team at LightSource; I was introduced to the firm by Sam the owner and he spent a great deal of time with me discussing their process, equipment, people and examples. Their work is first class, and museum quality. They have a gallery space in their lobby showing examples of their work in various formats and sizes; a great way to showcase their work to a new client like myself. I worked with Jeff in discussing my exact requirements for developing the right size of digital file for printing my work in large format. He was thorough and professional, and worked with all of my specific requirements. He met my deadline for completion and the invoice was detailed and thorough. Once the digital capture was done on all 11 pieces, I then had them print several full size images of several pieces. Upon first seeing the final digital image, I could NOT tell it apart from the original watercolor; complete color accuracy, rich detail and every single nuance of the water color medium was captured in the print. I am looking forward to working with them on additional printing and photography on more of my work. read more

The three printing experiences (one of which was for 20+ prints) I've had with LightSource keeps me coming across the bridge. They're responsive, helpful and friendly. I had very limited experience printing from digital files and they were happy to answer all my questions and recommend specific papers for specific prints, help with retouching things I didn't know needed retouching and even move things around to accommodate my schedule. We needed to scan one photo that was going to be enlarged to poster size. Sam was so helpful by guiding me on what I needed to do. In the end our needs were not a fit for LightSource but Sam went above & beyond the call of duty and found another photo service store in SF that would be a better fit for our needs. I went to LightSource for a major travel photography printing job, and am absolutely thrilled with their service. Their staff is top notch - true experts in all aspects of printing and prepping images, and their attitude and patience were amazing. The quality of the prints blew me away. I never thought I'd take these images off a 5-megapixel pocket camera (Panasonic Lumix), and blow them up to 40 inches by 25 inches, and have them look stunning. Lightsource definitely has some secret sauce for up-res-ing, and they also know their pixels inside and out and were able to tell me for each shot, based on the file size, how big I could reasonably print it without any sacrifice. They really wen the distance. They printed test strips which were very helpful and allowed us to refine some colors, and they were the first to pull out a few of the prints to redo if there was so much as a tiny blemish. First class operation. Lastly, their pricing was hard to believe. Incredibly affordable for that kind of professional output. The owner, Sam Hoffman, is a master-craftsman who combines old fashioned patience and customer service, with modern day technology expertise. Plus, he's a hard core cyclist. Tough to beat. read more
