Make sure you're aware that when you start a membership with Hand & Stone that if you try to…read morecancel, you will have to pay an extra month even if you were just drafted and haven't used your balance yet as a 30 day notice fee. This extra month does get credited to your account, but in my situation I find this very unreasonable. I tried to cancel my appointment on the 30th. There's no way to cancel online. I called on the 30th 3 times and couldn't get an answer on the phone. I also tried calling another location that I've been using 4 times with no answer. On the 31st I called again and was able to reach someone the first try. It takes 1-3 business days to process any request that changes your membership whether you freeze or cancel. They suggested I just freeze my account and that they would try their best to get it in before I'm charged on the 3rd. I checked my email continuously the next few days to no avail. Of course, I ended up being charged on the 3rd. Disappointing as I am cancelling due to financial constraints, but I was warned it could happen so whatever. Well today on the 7th I called again to just go ahead and cancel because after consideration I really just don't want the membership anymore due to this. On the phone today I was told that "I called on the 31st, they sent out the email to freeze on the 2nd, and I was billed on the 3rd." However, I received the email to freeze on the 3rd after I was already billed. They then tell me that yes, I will have to pay for an additional month where I will be billed on the 7th of May. So basically, I'd spent a couple hours on the 30th, and most of the day the 31st, 1st, and 2nd stressing over this to only be charged for a service on the 3rd I tried to cancel, then at least freeze believing it would be easier...and now next month I'm going to have to pay an additional $79.99 for a service I don't even want. Overall the services I've received the past few months at the secondary location I'd been using primarily due to it being closer to me were nice, and I loved the staff there. The staff at this location were friendly as far as I've experienced but I've only been there twice and talked to them now twice on the phone. I do feel like it's a little overpriced for what you get, but it is still something nice to do for yourself. My low rating is purely due to the lack of leeway in their membership despite me trying to cancel since the 30th, and no one informing me of their cancellation policy until today. This should be something informed to you when you sign up.

I inquired…read moreabout the Serenity package my husband paid for as a surprise, and she insisted it only included a facial, despite the online information and package menu clearly stating a 50-minute massage followed by a 50-minute facial. When I tried to explain, she cut me off and bluntly said, "No, it's just a facial." To make matters worse, she denied any possibility of using the gift card for other services and falsely led me to believe a refund might be possible and stated that only the manager could speak with the number on file (my husbands). The manager later called my husband, claiming she was told that I didn't want some of the services and that we'd be charged for one due to the esthetician's waiting time. However, it seems as if the whole story wasn't informed to the manager... that I was told I was only getting a facial ( I wasn't opposed to the facial but I was under the impression I would be getting a relaxation massage with a facial but yet told "No its just a facial".) This whole ordeal was marked by miscommunication, and it's clear no one was concerned about the dismissive behavior of the receptionist. She not only interrupted me but also avoided making eye contact, focusing on her computer instead. This place is misleading, and I strongly advise against it. I'll be informing my colleagues and friends to steer clear of this location. Awful experience!

I really really didn't want to like Hanna. I was mad at her. But I can't help this 5 star rating…read more Here is why. I made an appointment for a Saturday facial with her, about 5 weeks in advance. I work full time and I can't just take off for a body treatment. She called me and spoke with me and confirmed the appointment for that Saturday. It was confirmed. I show up exactly at our agreed time on the Saturday we agreed upon. The salon is locked. It is 97 degrees outside and the sun is blazing on me. I wait in the sun for 10 minutes before I give up and call the salon to leave a message about my appointment. I had childcare that day so I could get my skin some much needed attention. It was all paid for. Then I get a call from Hanna. She started telling me how she called and left multiple messages and texts informing me she had cancelled. I told her I've got nothing from her. Then she tells me how I never confirmed my appointment. I remind her that she personally spoke with me on the phone to confirm it. After she is done defending how it's not much of her fault for ruining my Saturday, I lose all my patience and ask her if she had been contacting a wrong number. She realizes that was a possibility. Offers me an alternate day. I had to accept after a 25 minutes argument that she wasn't going to show up and that was a day completely wrecked. It messed with me because spa days are supposed to be relaxing and this woman clearly just didn't get it. She calls me back in a few minutes confirming she had the wrong number all along, a mistake she made noting it down. So why the 5 stars? I got her microdermabrasion facial today. She was AMAZING. She is very talented, but that's not what got her 5 stars. She made me feel like she genuinely made a mistake, she compensated for my childcare expenses with a service and she went above and beyond to make this a great experience for me. It was impossible to stay mad at her. Even when her errs, she wins. As far as her skills are concerned, she is PERFECT. I'll never look for another aesthetician again.
