LB seems very professional and Patrick is very competent at explaining the work he is going to perform. Unfortunately, I can't afford their pricing policy. LB priced $135 to install a smoke sensor that i already purchased and price an outlet connection job at $450. So I had to explain my concern about this too high price and the Sales Manager offered a 5% discount. Which did not change the bill too much. Reiterating my concern a second time, LB Sales Manager preferred to refuse to do the job pretexting i will write a bad review online as i said i would. I am very disappointed with this company. They came to our home on a Friday to look over the job and were very professional and polite. Unfortunately, the service ended there. They told us that they would call the following Monday with a quote. When we did not here back, my husband called on Tuesday to check up on things. He was told that they had to look into the price of materials. It has been two weeks now, and we still do not have a quote. We have not even had a call to explain the delay or to say that they cannot take the job. Even if there is a reasonable explanation, I cannot see one for the lack of communication. read more

I had an issue with a ballast and the lights in my kitchen. Bobby assessed the issue and corrected but unfortunately, the next day the light would not come on. It turns out the bulb cracked either on its own or through some type of a surge. It was really ODD because I know that everything was working just fine the day before. Used them for a pool issue which they didn't diagnose (charged a call-out) and said the pump was faulty. But when the pool pump warranty folks came, they said it was electric. Had to call Lightning Bug Electric back who did find fault in the electrical this time (didn't fix but found a workaround) and charged me a full project price ($200). When making the case that they should at the very least refund the first trip (their issue) they put up a big fight. I think I did get it refunded (we'll see) but would be cautious about using them at least for pool electrics... read more

So happy I found my go to electricians! First, they have a person that answers the phone; she's friendly, efficient, and helpful! They actually called when the technician was on his way to my house, another plus. Tony arrived and he was the best! He introduced himself, was very nice, and has a cheerful personality. I showed him the problem with the fixture and he got to work. Within minutes he knew what had happened, and showed me. I had him change the fixture out , which he did very quickly and efficiently. He even called me back into the room so I could select the height I wanted it at. It was finished in no time, but he even called me back to see which bulbs I wanted, I had two sets, I picked and he put them in. He did give me his opinion when I asked for it, which is helpful too. Oh, and carrying 10' ladders into your house and up stairs and into rooms, yeah, no problem! Didn't bump a thing; he took great care! I had a list of fixtures needing to be upgraded, my pantry and coat closet were dim, needed an additional floodlight installed and all floodlights moved to LED and we were in serious need of a contractor install repair (a shortcut was taken and we needed a jacuzzi tub moved to its own circuit). Let me start by saying I have used this company in the past. Their electricians are prompt and very nice and the work they do is good. However, their pricing, at least for some pretty basic services, is absurd. They came to my house recently to provide an estimate for the installation of two simple light fixtures (already wired; just installing); a ceiling fan (prewired and with support in place); and replacement of a shorted outlet. They will not provide an estimate over the phone. I can only assume this is a strategy to cause inconvenience and the acceptance of overpriced services because they are already there. The electrician got as far as the pricing for the fan and the two lights before I stopped him and told him not to bother going any further. For just those three fairly easy items, it was over $400!! I called two other companies who gave me estimates over the phone that were $200 and $100 less that this for everything (not just three of the four items). I booked one of these and the end cost was exactly as estimated. Again, their service is good, but the pricing -- at least for this work -- is offensive. read more

After going to throw my wet clothes in the dryer, I found that my dryer was not heating. Sears came out, and said the plug for the dryer was wired incorrectly. Jeremy and Cody, from Lightning Bug Electric came to our home yesterday to fix and replace a number of items. I am concerned about working with electricity, even though I know the theory of how things work. I was also concerned about price. I had one company come out last year that wanted $100 just to come out, and you could only get that money back if you used their services, which were highly overpriced. So, I was concerned about inviting Lightning Bug, but the Yelp reviews were encouraging. Jeremy and Cody arrived at about 10 AM and stayed most of the day. Switches were tested and replaced, lights replaced, and a new outlet installed. The biggest challenge was that we have a new "home theater," that had been a play room, but was recently completely changed. The problem was that we still had overhead fluorescent lights, which really detracted from what we wanted. Jeremy and Cody, after some discussion about what might look best, installed wall sconces that were dim-able, and I love them. Price was a concern, but they were upfront with their costs. They were reasonable (slightly less than what I thought it would be), and they got it all done the same day. That was remarkable. Love it. Now my wife is finding new things to get fixed. I couldn't be happier with the results and already plan to have them out again once we finish some siding work so they can take care of some outdoor electrical. Had them install 2 new circuits. 1 for a heat pump and the 2nd for an A/C unit. They also replaced the electrical panel with new adding a few spare circuits. Pricing was not inexpensive but was competitive with the market and electrical work is one of those things that you get what you pay for. The guys started late (10 am) each day but also worked late (6 pm) each night. The work ended up taking 2 days instead of the quoted 1 day but the quoted price was honored. The guys were professional and courteous and even did a couple of extras at no cost. I would recommend this company if you need some electrical work. read more
