This place is very cozy. Check in was easy and everyone was very friendly. We had our own little park model. It's a little worn but very clean and there is a nice porch to enjoy meals, drinks and games outside. A great base for hiking and visiting local sites.

It feels like some of the folks talking trash about this resort did not take more than a few seconds to look over the description. If you are looking for something close to a lot of activities, bars, etc, etc, then this isn't where you want to go. If you want a VERY clean location, with a very nice resort with a GREAT individual micro-house, then keep reading. If you want a quiet location, sort of close to a small town, where you can relax (or write, which is what we are interested in), then keep reading. If you want easy access to sandy beaches along northern California coast; if you want hikes around the western forests and ocean front; if you want to get away from the Bay Area heat and manic traffic; if you want to TRULY relax and recharge -- if THESE are the things you are looking for, then THIS is a place you want to seriously consider! There is an on-site cafe that has great food, but it has very limited days and hours, so come prepared to cook. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need to cook full meals. You'll want to bring food with you -- and let me say this again: you NEED to BRING food with you! The two local grocery stores in Pointe Arena are somewhat limited and probably more expensive than you'll want to pay -- even by California standards. The grocery store in Manchester is better and cheaper -- and on the way to the beach. It comes with a nice sized TV, and some kind of cable service. But we have never used it, so I cannot comment on it. The bed is quite comfortable, but the rest of the furniture is okay. The full-sized bathroom is good; hot water comes quickly. I like to write on the front porch, and the wrought iron table and chairs on the front porch were more than adequate for me to work on. We love this location, and come to it every year for a writer's retreat. The you-pay internet access is more than adequate for our needs. I wish I could do this quarterly!

Great and wonderful experience loved the area, if your someone who is looking for a vacation that will be peaceful and relaxing this is your spot. In best word it's a location to get away from the world. No one bothered or disturbed me, The mini house was clean and had everything you'll need from towels to kitchenware the fire place came to great use. There are outdoor grills with everything you'll need to cook and a laundry room on the property. If you plan to stay here just make sure you pre plan buying food in cities before arriving. The only downside was if you wanted wifi you had pay for wifi with outrageous prices and service isn't the best in this area. Overall I would definitely book again! I made sure to take photos because I seen the photos on their yelp are a little old and not detailed.

On June 21, 2021, and after many weeks of planning the photographer, the nature preserve trip, rental cars, and more, this Resort (which is also an Endless Vacationing Rental RVC Resort Vacation Certificate TIME SHARE) abruptly canceled stating they are "extending their occupancy restrictions through July 31, 2021." THIS WAS MY 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TRIP! Side note - Disneyland is open in LA and this small shabby resort is still enforcing occupancy restrictions????? Thanks for ruing our 10 year anniversary plans !!! We will be blasting this all over social media in hopes other people will be leery of making plans with a shady RESORT (term to be used loosely I see). I will have to Cancel the photographer I had planed to use on the beach to celebrate our 10 years of marriage. I will have to tell my 5 year old she will not be able to feed the giraffes at the Nature Preserve. We are hugely disappointed and devastated. We will not ever attempt to stay here again!

This is a great place for a coastal getaway located just north of the very small town of Point Arena. It is on the corner of HWY 1 and Lighthouse Road While here be sure to go check out the lighthouse, it's only a mile or so away, an easy walk or a short drive. The units are small manufactured style homes that have everything you need. I like places like this because you have a lot of room to spread out, a fully equipped kitchen, queen bed, TV ( if you want ) and a gas fireplace. The separate bedroom have a queen size bed and the bathroom is nice sized as well. The sofa in the living room is a pullout queen bed. There is a small dining table and chairs. The small kitchen is fully stocked with a full size refrigerator, dishes, coffee maker, microwave and a dishwasher. They have salt, sugar, tea and coffee. Each unit has it's own porch with a table and chairs making it a great place to hang out and enjoy your morning coffee or evening drink. Each unit has its own parking. There is online laundry at the resort and you can also wheel a BBQ over. There is a small cafe on site that is open for breakfast, lunch, and the sign said they are open for dinner on the weekends only. Maybe its different in the summer. There is a very small video library and some gifts in the lobby. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This is a great place to stay while you explore the coast. The town of Point Arena, Manchester and Gualala are only a few miles away. Mendocino is about 30 miles north which makes it a fun and easy day trip. A great alternative to a hotel, you can just spread out and enjoy your time away from it all!

Our cozy cottage was clean with a great view of the garden and ocean. The bed is very comfortable and the provided space heater helped kept us warm at night. Only con I have to say is the pillows were very flat so we had to sleep with both pillows on top of each other for more support. I love that it had a full kitchen so you can cook delicious meals with fresh ingredients such as the daily delivered eggs straight from the chickens and greens you pick from the garden. If you want a break from cooking or want a meal prepped for when you arrive, you can add in the option of a dinner or picnic basket to your reservation as well. For the activities such as chicken chat and goat gab we weren't able to attend; it was raining pretty heavily during our stay so we opted to stay indoors and enjoy the cozy cabin. For the moments where the rain would stop, it was nice to explore the land, making stops by the bunnies and chickens with our dogs. Definitely planing on coming back! Would love to experience Mar Visita during the spring or summer!

By the way, every room has a private bath, unlike a lot of B&Bs. The house has a variety of rooms and amenities, so do your homework to make sure you get what you're looking for. The WiFi was very spotty and cell signal is non-existent, so plan accordingly for this. The breakfast, while lighter than some B&Bs I've stayed at, was delicious. Everything is homemade by a very talented staff. The service all around was terrific. We ate dinner the first night at the Pier Chowder House, just a 2 minute walk to the waterfront. Good food, lots of local beer and wine to choose from. The second night we found out about a scampi and crab feed at the grange in Manchester, a few miles north of town. There's also a decent Indian Casino just outside of town. There's a great coop market in town (a mile away, back on Hwy 1), as well as a small movie theater that used to be a playhouse. They sometimes have live music events there, too. Be sure to drive 4 miles north to the lighthouse. You can actually climb up the 145 steps to the top and see for miles. Take your camera! There's a small museum and gift shop as well. All in all, we had a great weekend. It was well worth the drive. We'll be back!

We spent two…read morenights at the Coast Guard House and I have to say, this is one of the quaintest and coziest little B&Bs I've ever stayed in. The location is right on the Arena Cove waterfront; secluded and - most importantly - quiet. The house was actually used by the Coast Guard back in the day so it has lots of history behind it. Your typical frilly Victorian B&B decor (bleh) is non-existant...think more turn-of-the-century craftsman. Our room (Surfmen Cove) was spacious, with a gas fireplace and sunken tub in the bathroom. Downstairs in the living room/parlor there is a wood burning stove that is usually lit in the mornings and evenings with a nice sitting area in front of it. Mmm, love that smell... The innkeepers, Kevin and Mia, have been operating this establishment since the mid-1990s. They are very friendly and willing to help you secure local dinner reservations as well as give you ideas on what to do with yourself while in the Mendocino area. Mia is originally from Philadelphia, so east coast feistiness + plenty of caffeine = enthusiastic "audio/visual presentations" over breakfast on local sights and activities. Fellow inn guests were just as friendly. The group this particular weekend was mostly from the south bay. One evening we ran into another couple staying at the inn at the Arena Cove Bar & Grill (just a few steps away from the CGH...another plus!) after driving back from dinner in Mendocino. We ended up sharing pints, stogies and port well into the wee hours. I would definitely come back here, and maybe next time try one of the two cottages they have on the grounds in addition to the five rooms in the main house. Holiday weekend note: The CGH can be flexible with reservation minimums. The website (which allows online reservations) says there is a three-night minimum required in order to make a reservation over a holiday weekend. For Memorial Day weekend, we actually wanted to stay at the CGH for only two nights (Friday and Saturday) and then head to Napa to stay at the Carneros Inn on Sunday night. On the previous Monday, I noticed online that there still seemed to be rooms available for the weekend. I phoned Kevin and he was agreeable to making an exception to the three-night rule and allowed us to complete our reservation for just two nights.
