SHORT REVIEW One of the best accommodations we have ever experienced. View: Spectacular Service: 10+++ Cleanliness: 10+ Property Quality: 10+ Amenities: 10+ DETAILED REVIEW I searched long and hard for the perfect accommodations for our 50th anniversary. The bar was high. Sacred Rock Inn exceeded our expectations in every way. EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION During my first call to Sacred Rock Inn, I spoke with Daniel who was very pleasant, knowledgeable, thorough, and accommodating. After making a reservation we immediately received a confirmation and detailed navigation instructions, as some of the nearby roads were under construction. We received one or two additional clear, concise and pleasant emails as the time for our visit drew closer. EASY CHECK IN We arrived before check in time. The staff made sure our room was ready just minutes later. Tyler and Anna were warm and welcoming. Parking was right outside our door, and there was an electric charger for Tesla's. FIRST RATE ROOM AND AMENITIES Our room #243 was even more gorgeous than the photos on the website, and the view...well, in a word, spectacular! This was one of the cleanest rooms we've ever stayed in. Every window, floor and counter were spotless. No detail, no matter how small, was overlooked in their recent renovation. Even down to the grout between tiles in the bathroom, which was perfect, and the wood grains matched where they came together. Furniture was high end and comfortable. All of these details might not be noticed individually, but they created an impression of luxury, of being pampered. Of a staff who cared for your well being. Other amenities included a gas fireplace that put out a good amount of heat, a jetted deep soaking tub with a fabulous view, motorized blinds and skylight above the bed, and a private terrace with a million-dollar view. Oh, the sunsets we saw! The Coyuchi bed linens and towels were soft, and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchenette was stocked with premium products including individual packet Steeped coffee (better than Nespresso or Keurig), real cream in the refrigerator in a glass bottle, local cheese, Carr's crackers, chocolate chip cookies, dried fruits, mixed nuts, Acqua Panna spring water, Pellegrino sparkling water, sparkling fruit juices, and probably a few more items I've forgotten. Items were replenished each day. The gardens were lush and incredibly well tended. Lots of places to sit and relax. One evening we went for dinner at The Greenwood, the on-premises evening restaurant. Tom, the General Manager of Sacred Rock Inn, a very genial guy, greeted us by name. We had an excellent dinner of fresh, creatively combined ingredients, beautifully presented, expertly served by Dominic and Jenel, with a fabulous view. The same attention to detail in the rooms was applied to the restaurant. Even the tables were works of art with inlaid mother of pearl designs. ABOVE AND BEYOND As if all this was not enough, they surprised us with more than was expected. (1) They sent a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. (2) Since the Elk House restaurant (breakfast and lunch) is not open mid-week (typical for the area), they surprised us by delivering a yummy breakfast of yogurt and granola, fresh baked cinnamon bun, and fresh squeezed orange juice to our room late each afternoon so we could enjoy breakfast on the terrace the following morning. (3) Sacred Rock Inn was offering a special rate to celebrate the completion of their recent renovation. We were unaware of it. Imagine our surprise and delight when they applied a 30% discount to our final bill. This goes to the character of Tom the General Manager and the whole staff. They really want to make your stay enjoyable and exceed your expectations. Mission accomplished. Sacred Rock Inn has our highest recommendation. ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS in the Mendocino/Fort Bragg Area Note: Check which days places are open/closed Casual Restaurant: David's Deli in Fort Bragg - Big sandwiches at reasonable rates Casual Restaurant: The Brickery - excellent smash burgers and pizza at outdoor cafe Grocery Store: Harvest Market - good selection of foods to go Ice Cream - Cowlicks in Fort Bragg and at Botanical Garden Rhody's Cafe Natural Beauty - Russian Gulch, Mendocino Headlands, Van Damme State Park (both Fern Canyon Trail and Pygmy Forest), MacKerricher Park (tide pools) Things to Do - Mendocino Botanical Gardens Cute Shops - Mendocino Jewelry Studio, Northcoast Artists Gallery, Glassfire Gallery, Beautiful Earth If traveling down Anderson Valley on Hwy 128 to Napa: Gowan's Family Orchards for Cider Tasting (Philo) Disco Ranch Wine Bar and Specialty Market for picnic items (Boonville)

The staff is friendly and helpful. I have difficult dietary issues, the staff listened careful and respectfully and served me meals that were well prepared, tasty, and had nothing I could not eat. I live and work locally to Sacred Rock. I enjoy eating out, but having severe reactions to some commonly used ingredients I am careful where I eat and/or what I order when I first try a new or different restaurant. Many places have things on their menus that with little easy changes I can have. I started with one of those, and enjoyed it. Then wanting to become a "local regular" I ordered something that required a little more effort to get right, the staff got it perfect. I feel confident that I will be able to dine there without incident and only reminding them of my troubles, they will either modify offering for me or let me know if they cannot be modified.

We stopped here only for the night on a long road trip to Carmel from Oregon. What an absolutely spectacular oceanside sanctuary! This idyllic haven feels spiritual and definitely worthy of more than 1 night stay. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Michaela, we felt a wave a calm and rejuvenation. She's a wonderful host with such a welcoming presence. She walked us to our room (229) thru the gorgeous, lush gardens. The website doesn't remotely do justice to this property as they have renovated the rooms and the website doesn't reflect the updated photos. Our room & view was beyond our wildest expectations. The soft jazz playing on the tele as we entered truly set the mood. The complimentary snacks, drinks, etc were such a pleasant surprise. THE VIEW! We slept with the balcony door open to hear the ocean waves. Beautiful fireplace to cut the chill. Jacuzzi tub with the ocean view with cup of their fabulous hot tea was perfect after a long drive. Linens were luxurious. Bed was epically comfy. Shower was amazing. Wood detailing and decor is gorgeous. Their gardens!!! I have to share pictures of the beautiful flowers. Michaela was kind enough to give me a tour of the event space / multi bdrm residence rental they are renovating and it is absolutely stunning. I cannot recommend this Inn enough, it will forever reign as one of our all time favorites

This is a wonderful place to stay and we treasure each visit. Sacred Rock (formerly Griffin House) is a very special place to us. When we first started dating, I was feeling stressed and needing to get out. My girlfriend arranged a quick weekend getaway here to recharge and connect. It was just what I needed. We were so grateful they had an opening! These cottages have a Mom and Pop feel, are incredibly clean and have a feeling of privacy, plus you get your own parking spot! We always stay in the Smith Cottage which has an enclosed backyard area and clawfoot bathtub for an evening soak. It is so nice to sit outside on the patio surrounded by flowers where you can hear the birds, the ocean and watch the hummingbirds zoom by. One of the best places to sip on a glass of wine, it is a slice of heaven. Recently, we had a very special stay at Smith Cottage, we celebrated our anniversary. Ana was an incredible host and worked out the details with my girlfriend, bringing dessert to our room, having a beautiful flower arrangement that instantly caught the eye when you entered and arranging for a bottle of surprise champagne to arrive in the morning for mimosas. She accommodated our special dietary request as well for breakfast in the morning. After our breakfast was delivered we set everything up on the patio to enjoy, we had a dance in the patch of grass surrounded by flowers. Here the woman I love asked me to marry her and I got to say "yes". I could not have asked for a better place. The private patio allowed us to share our moment while being outside in nature. The attention to detail and accommodation from Ana and the service from the entire staff added to this special and memorable weekend. Thank you!

We live FT in The Sea Ranch so Harbor House is an easy drive and it's like having our own neighborhood Michelin star resort and dining in the hood. Lunch was as good as I remember it. We started with a raw smoked trout stater and it was gently smoked which kept the trout firm and with only a hint of the curing process. Their freshly made bread followed and that kelp churned butter is to die for. The next two courses were a poached black cod in a home made miso sauce that was a lesson in how to ferment properly ! Delicious. The pork loin followed and I must admit it was a little tough - perhaps not rested enough post cooking or just a little over. The dish had teenie tiny wasabi leaves among all the veggies and greens on the plate and they really imparted a lovely natural zinginess...desert was some sort of a custard with a thin meringue and some other wonderfulness that made the whole thing refreshing but not too sweet and a lovely end to the meal. It was our 34th anniversary and we had made it a point to mention it when we made the reservation but they didn't even stick a candle in the dessert they gave us as a part of the meal...which seemed a missed opportunity IMHO. Just saying, we eat out quite a bit and most of the time not to celebrate anything special so it's nice when an establishment makes mention and notice of it in some way... We had the wine pairings ($100/each) along with the five course lunch ($150/each) and they do a nice job with the pairings, mainly featuring nice Italian varietals and of course some local favorites from the area - like Baxter (Pinot) and a dessert style wine that was very nice and not something I would have normally thought to order on my own. The grounds are as beautiful as always and now that spring has sprung and the flowers on their grounds are in full bloom and the beach area is starting to take on that summer sheen - it was a stellar afternoon once again. We will be keeping this place on regular rotation for sure and we look forward to our next meal later this summer when the tomatoes are ripe and the fruits and vegetables are in all their glory ! Highly recommend.

Our cozy cottage was clean with a great view of the garden and ocean. The bed is very comfortable and the provided space heater helped kept us warm at night. Only con I have to say is the pillows were very flat so we had to sleep with both pillows on top of each other for more support. I love that it had a full kitchen so you can cook delicious meals with fresh ingredients such as the daily delivered eggs straight from the chickens and greens you pick from the garden. If you want a break from cooking or want a meal prepped for when you arrive, you can add in the option of a dinner or picnic basket to your reservation as well. For the activities such as chicken chat and goat gab we weren't able to attend; it was raining pretty heavily during our stay so we opted to stay indoors and enjoy the cozy cabin. For the moments where the rain would stop, it was nice to explore the land, making stops by the bunnies and chickens with our dogs. Definitely planing on coming back! Would love to experience Mar Visita during the spring or summer!

The Inn at Newport Ranch - such beauty

We recently married in August 2025 and we wanted to get out of Los Angeles and see the Redwoods for our honeymoon. We were looking for quiet, peace, and nature. We found a small piece of heaven, a glimpse into the garden of Eden or at least the ranch in heaven! THE ROOM: We stayed for 4 nights and had the most relaxing time together. Let me start with the room. My husband called and emailed as he was able to see pictures of the rooms to help make a decision. We chose the Captains Quarters and it served us perfectly. We had access to the jacuzzi, a very private room, and the most serene view. The inn was so well kept and the attention to detail was very much appreciated. I pray it stays like this and they keep investing in the upkeep as it was well maintained and we loved the craftsmanship. We loved the decor of the room. I didn't even think twice about a tv. There is no need for television with a view of paradise through the window. THE PEOPLE: We were so blessed to have Colby hosting us at dinner time each evening. He went above and beyond to help us have privacy as we dined each night at a newly married couple. He worked very hard and was exceptionally good and professional at his job. He kept the fireplace going each night for us, talked with us when we engaged conversation, was polite, respectfully, and made us feel very comfortable. He recommended and made great drinks, and helped us with some exploration tips around the area. We made it to the Avenue of the Giants, the tide pools, Mendocino, and a few other local places like Fort Bragg and the Skunk Train. Colby made us feel at home on the ranch. Clancy gave us an amazing UTV tour. His knowledge of the rich history of the area and deep passion for what he does made the trip all the more special. He showed us great sights and if we had more time, we would have definitely done the picnic next time. What he does on the trails to maintain and create them is incredible. What a job to maintain the land. Also, I loved being able to meet and pet his dog! THE FOOD: This is where I was blown away. I thought we were coming for the view, but had no idea the food would be just as stunning. Chef Nick Wells, you are a culinary genius. We were so grateful to have the opportunity to meet and speak with Chef Nick. He, too, was familiar with the surrounding Los Angeles area and so it was great to connect and to share our appreciation and admiration for his talent and creativity. He was so down to earth and friendly. The food was next level. We did both the ranch supper and tasting menu. We originally only had one dinner planned, but after tasting supper we canceled all other dinner reservations and made sure to come back each night for the food. Literally, we reworked our plans to come back and taste what creation he had planned for the evening. It was one of the highlights of the honeymoon and it really gave us a chance to connect as a couple. Side note, we fell in love with the bacon each morning- just incredible. I woke up looking forward to what feast awaited us at breakfast! What a treat and a great way to start our day each morning with a hearty feast. THE EXPERIENCE: The views not only from the room, but the ranch itself were breathtaking. I am used to Southern CA coastline with homes and businesses lining the beaches. Here, a person can breathe. This is how it was intended to be. I am so glad The Inn was kept to the number of rooms it is and that they haven't expanded to some big hotel. It would lose the magic and wonder. I loved that the dining experience was just for guests and there was no traffic. It was intimate and made us feel a part of the ranch. I really valued the experience. We worked very hard to be able to have this experience. Being able to appreciate the land, the trails, and the history of how Mr. Wilson wants to keep the land as was well worth it. The lodge itself was gorgeous. From the stained glass windows at the entrance to the garden and the trails with such special views, I was overwhelmed with beauty. We were so lucky the flowers called "Naked Ladies" which only bloom for about two weeks each year bloomed while we were there. Those pink ladies were gorgeous. THE FUTURE: We are starting to save now for August 2035 for our 10th year anniversary. We look forward to what awaits us down the road when we visit again! Please don't change. Thank you for everything!

We were excited to come after getting jealous from watching Reels on their Instagram, and boy- visiting in person was even 10x better. Would highly recommend going in the "Bay Area summer" of Sept/Oct because the weather was unbeatable, not a cloud in the sky as we enjoyed the pristine, awe-striking CA coast. We stayed in the Hearthstone Junior Suite and had our own private jacuzzzi underneath the stars. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and the drinks!) were Michelin star-worthy, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (special shout out to Misha and Timmy who were especially accommodating to my service pug, Gus). The menu for each meal consisted of fresh food directly from the ranch. The creativity put into dishes honestly had me shocked that this place doesn't have a Michelin star already. SO so so delicious. 6 out of 5 stars. The Inn at Newport Ranch is like a secret gem, but I'm not going to gatekeep its beauty. CanNOT wait to come back soon!
