The reason; class size has grown. It is a overcrowded gym class that can conformable hold maybe twenty-five seniors. Atletica policy towards Silver Sneakers is in constant change. In the beginning there were two separate classes. Each class with thirty + participants. That changed and Silver Sneakers no longer has a second class. Now there is only one class. A few days ago, the class size was reduced to thirty people on a first come, first serve bases causing a chaotic dash to enter the classroom and grab a chair. As of today, all are welcome regardless if you do or do not have a chair. There are 36 chairs which all are taken within minutes and there are many others without a chair. This person gave its chair to another and walked out in silent protest against the dangerous overcrowded conditions in Atletica Silver Sneakers gym room. There is barely elbow room while exercising. The overcrowded packed conditions poses a dangerous, health and physical threat to all those who actively participate in the workout. Boca Raton Atletica's Silver Sneakers classes feels and looks like a New York rush hour bus or train. Atletica manager and/or management has failed in providing solid solution to the above. The solution is more classes, welcoming newcomers, limited participants per class, allow original members who have attended for years seniority.

Instead of creating an environment that feels welcoming and restorative, the constant pounding club music gives the entire space a chaotic, overstimulating quality. The change goes beyond the music. There is now a noticeable coldness in the way the gym is operated. Interactions with management feel unnecessarily rigid and confrontational, and the overall attitude is less focused on hospitality and more focused on enforcing corporate policies without consideration for the customer. I originally joined under the previous ownership with the understanding that I could pay my $50 membership fee monthly. When an attempted automatic charge did not process, I went into the gym on the day the payment was due and offered to pay in person. I was told that no balance was showing in the system and that there was nothing I could pay at that time. A few days later, the gym attempted to charge me $80, including a $30 fee related to the declined transaction. I explained that I had come in on time and tried to pay, but their own system and staff had prevented me from doing so. I was also never clearly informed that the terms of my original agreement had changed or that a declined automatic payment would result in such a substantial additional charge. Rather than calmly addressing the contradiction, management became defensive and seemed more interested in justifying the fee than preserving a positive relationship with a paying member. That interaction reflected the larger problem with this gym: it no longer feels like a place designed for people who want to improve their health in a comfortable, respectful atmosphere. It feels loud, impersonal, tense, and increasingly unpleasant. Anyone looking for a polished, peaceful, mature fitness environment may want to visit during peak hours before committing to a membership. Listen to the volume of the music, observe the atmosphere, and pay attention to how management communicates with members. There are simply too many well-run gyms available to spend time and money somewhere that leaves you feeling more agitated when you leave than when you arrived.

Every time a weight hit the floor I would get an evil stare and then eventually got reprimanded. It's gym not a museum right lol? And no I wasn't throwing weights around being disrespectful. I was down in Florida in July 2025 for 2 1/2 weeks and wanted to try this place because it was new. So I bought a one month membership for myself and my wife and then asked to freeze the account until we come back down to Florida since we live in New Jersey. We did everything through a gentlemen named Mac who understood our situation that we wouldn't be coming back down until the next year. I got billed the next month accidentally and he refunded me and apologized. At that time I asked him to take my card off file. Fast forward to January and I've been getting billed the last 3 months after several phone calls with the owner and emails sent without a response. Today was the last straw as I called AGAIN to have my card removed and to be refunded. I mentioned that I'm going to have my bank reverse the charges and he started calling me a jack ass and saying why don't I come and say this to his face because he felt "threatened" and will sue me if I do it. I can't say enough awful things about the people here except for Mac who actually doesn't even work there anymore probably because he was nice. The fact that I asked several times for the card to be taken off file and it hasn't been is severely alarming. Anyone that is traveling and thinking about Joining beware. They told me something completely different than what the contract said. Stupid me for taking their word for it and not reviewing the contract. Not keeping your word says a lot about a business. Turns out Ryan is also a trainer and a genuinely great guy. Ryan is very knowledgable and personable as well as very encouraging, and he is always smiling - except when it is his turn to lift lol. Margate Barbell is primarily a powerlifting gym, and Ryan is always around to make sure you are using correct technique to avoid injury. If you prefer circuit training Ryan's got plenty of tricks up his sleeves to keep your heart pumping. It's a smaller gym, but boasts a great atmosphere and great people.
