I was dating someone in SC who went every Sunday - she'd roll the handle less cart, lift and stuff and it all seemed like a lot of work to me. The only fun for me was playing with the push/pull detergent machine handles. All sturdy and sterile looking, they've got big ones and bigger ones - all front loaders , my Maytag loaded from the top which still seems more logical than the middle - like R2D2 standing next to R2D3, similar but definitely different. I always liked the TIDE NASCAR car (2nd only to the M&Ms car) zip around the tracks in Houston Astros orange, so I dropped 4 quarters in that slot- thinking about the science of hampering. Although the internet here is fast enough, that stale fabric softener oderiferus emination is slight but unpleasant to my nose, so I tend not to stick around and watch my pants really roll. The quarters machine is always working -i hear that's an issue elsewhere, just hold the cup steady and pretend you hit Cherry Cherry Cherry on the one armed bandit as the avalanche of coins go "jingle jangle jingle" as they fall perfectly fitting your Dixie paper cup - if only they had a Missile Command or Robotron machine.. I'm also always consumed by the idea of pouring a excessive amount of detergent into the machine, set the controls to HOT and HIGH and let'er Rip. Fill the Lighthouse with bubbles to the ceiling, flicker the light switch (put the needle on the record) juggle the bubbles and spin within them like a spinny top.

It is a comfort to be able to do your wash without contending with the crowds and competition for washers and dryers of much larger laundromats. The staff at Auburndale is helpful and friendly. The washers are nearly brand-new and very reliable. Although the dryers have been in place for some time, they have always worked well for me. I will exchange the quiet and service of this small laundromat for the bells and whistles of a larger, newer one, every-single-time.

The prices are okay, but I'm not fond of having to buy a laundry card for $5 and having limited options for refilling it - the only other option being to use coins. I might be a bit spoiled as the last laundromat I used let you use a credit card at the washer/ dryer itself. Parking is a little difficult - it's not a big lot and it's not easy to navigate. Last wash is at 5 pm and the doors are locked after that - they'll open them for you, but they're locked even for leaving the building, which doesn't feel safe. But she had a lot to apologize for: ATM not working, only 3 washers take credit cards and none of the dryers do. It's 2025! The machines are old and poorly kept, 7 of the dryers are out of order, the snack machine, built to take cards, only takes bills (fine) but DOESN'T GIVE CHANGE. The laundry supply dispenser was mostly vacant, there's no WiFi that was readily apparent (despite the large sign in the window, which also advertises the [non-working] ATM). But: it does have a restroom and provides nifty cups for your quarters (but you'll have to go somewhere else to get cash before you can get change!). The change machine works! A coat of paint and some 21st century tech would make this a place I come back to. Otherwise: nope. They haven't even claimed the business to read reviews, so clearly the owners don't care, and it shows.
